Preparing the Defenses

When all the expected things never happen, you have to resort to those you never thought you would do. The unification of all communities, big or small, was something no one could have foreseen. However, thanks to the calculations presented by Dominic's organization and the resources that could be extracted from the sea, progress was visible.

All the communities entered a training program; those who were problems disappeared magically, and only the useful ones remained in the program.

Dominic had prepared a small army of five thousand soldiers. All the heavy artillery was being moved by an aircraft carrier, and in this manner, they headed toward Washington, taking great care not to be affected by the walkers from Canada.

"Have you ever seen anything like this?" Stuart asked while standing next to Dominic in the command room. Everyone was a bit nervous after seeing the new class of infected people they called the Burrowing Runners.

Dominic did not respond immediately. He took his time to see what the drones were showing and then asked, "How long will it take us to take the White House?"

"We have run many simulations; it would take us less than fifteen hours to settle in that place and set up security measures to face hordes of walkers." Stuart was confident in their timeframe.

Among all the places where Dominic could set up his base, he decided to do it at the White House. This was because there was a vast, flat area at the location of the state monument where they could set up their defenses.

As everyone knew, it was impossible to install defenses throughout Washington if they planned to defend it. The best they could do in this case was to have drones monitoring the border at all times, and when they were certain that the infected were passing through their jurisdiction, they would attract all those walkers to this place where they would initially set up their defenses.

The best weapon they could use on land was the Phalanx defense system, which would activate when the weapon system detected enemy proximity.

They had found these systems in maintenance, and now they could only move forty of these machine guns because all the others were installed on the protected islands and cities.

"The drones are in motion, monitoring the border, and the other teams are now beginning to clean the cities." Daniel was standing next to Dominic, who was appreciating the views.

"The artillery?"

"In position, more than 50 kilometers from the city."

"Then let's start; let's take the heart of Washington." Said Dominic, giving the green light for his people to act.
