"Zz. Are they the only ones?" The voice came through the speaker of a radio in Dominic's hands as he contacted his people.

Dominic looked at Daniel, who was silent, and then slowly said through the radio in his hands, "Make arrangements to establish a route to gather supplies from those areas. Avoid passing through zones where military bases are located, and if anyone asks, inform them that you're a special group responsible for transporting special personnel."

"Zz... Understood, sir, we'll be on the move first thing in the morning."

Dominic stopped communicating with the private security team he had hired for these special cases. Daniel, who had heard everything, remained silent; only now did he believe Dominic and knew that his value in the plan was so significant that he would be the very last.

"Is it worth risking those people for a few soldiers?" Daniel asked after some time.

"It's necessary for the future. I need trained men to serve me in guarding the things I want to keep for myself. Can you understand the chaos the world will be in three years from now?" Dominic pondered this over and over whenever he thought about his plans.

Dominic wanted to ensure that Daniel was on the same page as him and walked over to a map where he marked special points. "Cities will be in chaos, and at this point, they'll be bombed. There will be internal strife in the National Guard, and this is now when everything for the military ends."

"It's impossible for everything to destabilize." Daniel knew these things could happen, but reaching that point didn't make sense.

"You're right; the military will establish bases where they will resist and try to start anew." Dominic recalled many large bases that formed the CRM; there were also others similar in size formed by civilians.

"So, if that's all, I'll move when you indicate." Daniel stood up, as he wanted to return to his wife.

Dominic nodded and said, "Your wife will be moved to a location where she'll be treated. She'll be lucky if she doesn't lose her foot due to the infection, and I'll make sure she's not infected. We'll find out if she can pass the tests or not; I'll keep you informed about it at all times and find a way for you to visit her."

As Daniel left the house next to the Clark family's, Dominic, who was agitated, sat down on the couch, wanting only to rest. But at that moment, he heard movement on the other side of the room, prompting him to draw his gun.

"I heard you; come out wherever you are, or I'll shoot." Dominic took his pistol, determined to fire; he knew that if he couldn't maintain control, he would have to kill the person who was secretly listening to his conversation.

"It's me; don't shoot." Alicia walked into the room holding a plate of food, causing Dominic to lower his weapon.

Alicia felt a bit uneasy and said, "I didn't hear much of what you were talking about."

"Don't lie, you heard the whole conversation." Dominic walked to the couch and sat down to rest.

Alicia approached and gave him the plate of food. Knowing that Dominic had caught her listening, she said, "If you have a place to go, why did you stay here?"

"You know very well, I don't want to be alone because I wouldn't know what I'd do... After ending my girlfriend's life, I knew I needed time to process it and let it slowly leave my mind and not make mistakes." Dominic was also here because there were opportunities.

Of course, Alicia also understood how Dominic felt because she felt the same way, and there was no one else who understood her like he did. That's why she wanted to spend time with him, but when she found out he went to the military, she didn't know why or what he was doing.

Maybe the world was so messed up that people with certain useful skills for the military would be selected in the coming days. She also wanted to help because that would keep her mind occupied.

Apart from that, she knew she had to adapt as quickly as possible if she wanted to survive in this world. Dominic had said it well; she had to survive for many people who were still with her.

Certainly, the world didn't seem to be getting better, or so she noticed when she went out with Dominic in search of Matt, who had turned into one of those things.

"Thanks for the food; when you leave, you can take all that military food bag." Dominic put a suitcase on the table and then laid down.

Alicia, who had been lost in her thoughts, asked, "Aren't you going to tell me not to tell anyone?"

"I know you won't; I just ask for time to fix things and ensure our well-being. If for some reason what I just said is overheard by other people, I'm afraid all my plans will certainly be affected." Dominic knew the solution to this kind of problem, and that would be to accelerate the destruction of the military base.

Without giving Alicia a chance to say anything, Dominic said, "Emma told me she wouldn't die if I didn't forget her, that I should focus on saving people, and that's what I'll do. You should help me; we can still give our lives a new meaning if we manage to get out of this suffocation we're in."

The noose around Dominic's neck felt extremely suffocating; he had now focused on eliminating all evil by rescuing people. The useful ones would be saved, while the useless ones would die. It's no wonder difficult times create strong people; Dominic had no doubt that the strong in this place would survive, while the dead would be someone average who would be discarded.

"I'm not a hero..." Alicia murmured these words as she reclined on the other couch. She didn't consider herself special, but Dominic's words gave her another perspective on what she could do.

"People who adapt quickly to this world will be the ones to survive; those who can't see the reality of things will take longer to become strong." Dominic turned to Alicia and said, "If we're together, I think we'll be strong; that thought is the most accurate one I've had so far."

"Am I not another one of your victims?" Alicia realized that Dominic confessed to having controlled things to his liking, so she joked about this.

Dominic shook his head and said, "Only people with fear can be controlled; you're not afraid. Am I wrong?"

"No..." Alicia smiled slightly, sadness crossing her face due to how she had to face things. She also felt bad because the mutual support between her and Dominic seemed to be healing their wounds faster.
