A Thought

What Dominic had noticed was that things were speeding up a bit; he didn't know if this was actually happening, but it was true that it was happening faster than usual. But this wasn't something he cared much about; things would end up happening sooner or later, so it was good to be involved.

"Do you plan to kill him in this place?" Dominic took a box that was attached to his motorcycle and began assembling a basic hunting rifle. He didn't want to intervene, but he knew that if things didn't happen as they did in the original story, he needed to pay attention.

What he didn't want was to rely on a faulty timeline; he knew that people with their identities were real, and that increased the chances of decision variants. Besides, this was the real world, not a story. If he started moving around like it was a video game, he would end up dead faster than he could realize.

"Many cases of dead people coming back to life are being reported; professional doctors say this could be due to a misdiagnosis, so they'll be much more attentive to it."

Dominic finished assembling his rifle and said, "It's not a rare diagnosis, and they know it. Damn useless."

On the internet and in the news, numerous rumors were spreading about a virus, infection, or similar things. Everything was connecting very quickly, sooner than Dominic had anticipated.

"Emma, get ready to leave the building."

Dominic knew he had left the most important decision for last, which was Emma's safety, but he knew that if he took her to the refuge earlier, it would make him vulnerable.

Many would wonder, Who are these people? Dominic would expose himself too much, scare Emma's mom, and nonsensical things would happen.

"[School alarms have been issued; everyone is evacuating.]"

Dominic couldn't believe what he was reading; this was much earlier than expected. "How are things accelerating so quickly? Nick has only been in the hospital for a day; the information isn't reliable."

Something was happening, and Dominic couldn't understand it. But now wasn't the time to comprehend such unexpected events, not when Nick was about to be killed right before his eyes.

"So, if there are changes, I shouldn't trust the results." Dominic was about to kill Calvin, but he stopped in the end. He wanted to know if some of the possible endings were still reliable.

This was his own experiment.

"Come on, kill him, Nick." Dominic thought as he aimed his rifle at Calvin from the height of an abandoned bridge.

At least Calvin was smart enough to know how to kill Nick, but he was a very confident idiot, and that would lead to his death. Dominic just hoped that would happen; at least he couldn't trust the timeline, but he could trust the events that would happen at some point in his life.

When Calvin parked the car in the same place that brought memories to Dominic, Calvin got out of the car and said, "Stay here, brother; it's safe here."

Nick was still dazed; his senses hadn't fully returned, and he felt a strong headache torturing him. But as he closed his eyes to rest, something didn't add up; there was something strange bothering him.

"Let's go," Calvin said after closing the trunk where he had the gun. He opened the door where Nick was and said, "Nick, let's go."

Nick could see the gun but didn't react excessively; he knew to keep calm, which was very important in these cases.

"Come on, get out of the car, Nick."

Nick made a very open movement to get out of the car, and at that moment, he began to struggle with Calvin for control of the gun.

Dominic, from a distance, had completely lost control of who was shooting, and at that moment, a shot rang out hollowly.

Bang!

Moments later, Nick stepped away from Calvin, who had been shot in the chest.

"Same result: time does not correspond to my memories, but that's the least important." Dominic began to disassemble the rifle while keeping track of time.

By now, Nick would surely call Travis, who would also come to Madison's side. They would see the walker, and the continuous events would unfold from that moment.

Dominic couldn't worry too much about this; it was a waste of time, but he had to make his presence known to consider whether or not to have these people by his side.

About ten minutes later, Dominic saw a truck entering the tunnel leading to the scene where anisocytosis had killed Calvin, who had transformed much faster than others.

"Let's go…" Dominic took his pistol and put a silencer on it; he didn't want to act too soon because this drama would make these special people he wanted by his side smarter.

Wanting to use others' benefits for his own benefits was something that characterized him; at least now he could have more hopes against a certain group of powerful enemies.

Boom!

When Dominic heard a loud thud and the sound of the truck, he entered the tunnel driving his motorcycle, and as soon as he had the opportunity, he shot it in the head.

Bang!

Madison and Travis were stunned when they saw a stranger enter this lonely place and kill Calvin as if it were his problem.

"Oh my God..." Travis stared at Dominic, who had taken off his helmet.

"Has anyone been bitten?" Dominic asked calmly.

Madison looked at Dominic and asked, "What the hell is happening?"

"A virus turns people into practically indestructible beings since they practically don't die unless their brains are damaged." Dominic removed the silencer from his gun and put the weapon away. "What you need to do is get out of here, go back home, and I'll accompany you."

"How do you know all that?" Travis couldn't react better due to the great impression of what he had just seen.

"I know as little about this as you do, but I recommend you don't leave home due to the traffic everywhere and the large herds of these undead that can find you." Dominic got off the motorcycle and walked towards Calvin's car.

Madison looked at Dominic and said, "You should come with us."

"What are you saying, Maddy?" Travis asked, looking at Madison with confusion.

"His father hasn't answered the school calls; his mother died, and he's practically alone. Plus, he just saved us." Madison didn't want to have this discussion.

"I won't need your help, but maybe you want mine. Do you want the gun?" Dominic approached with a bag of medicines, drugs, and much more that he had taken from Calvin's car. He offered Calvin's gun to Travis, who refused to take it.

"We don't need it."

"Of course, you will need it; there will be many more of these, and you'll have to protect your family. I'm Alicia's friend; at least you should consider staying safe. Besides, you were my favorite teacher." Dominic, even in these moments, knew how to be somewhat funny with others.

Travis shook his head and said, "You fell asleep in my classes."

"The best dreams of the day were in your class, Mr. Travis."

Madison looked at the pills and knew what they would need them for, so she immediately took them along with the gun. "Thank you, Dominic; if you don't have a place to go, you can go in this direction."

"If you haven't left by then, I'll be able to bring you some food and more weapons." Dominic put on his helmet a little hastily because he needed to go for Emma, who was still in that building.

"Without weapons, you can come if you don't bring weapons," Travis said, still sweating cold.

"Hide well; remember how things are happening all over the country." Dominic said this before disappearing from the tunnel at full speed.
