Chapter 1 - A new life

Life as a baby is great, I don't know why those protagonists complain so much, it is like a year of vacation after running around being a corporative slave and they just want to go back into the fray. Sure the range of activities is severely limited but that's the thing, you don't have to do jack shit.

I feel no shame about having another person having to feed me and change my diapers, it doesn't matter that I have more than double said person's age I'm a fucking baby, and I have no control of my body so fuck it.

My physical attributes are suppressed right now but it looks like I can force it to full power, thanks to my resistance it won't have an adverse effect on my current body but I decided not to, and just enjoy the moment. Lisa said this world is safe and I don't have to worry too much.

Still made some countermeasures though, you never know, my runes and spellcraft are still at full power so I just used them for more guaranteed safety. Better be safe than sorry, and for now, aside from the training regiment I, Scatach and Ivy devised we just lazy around most of the time chatting, sleeping, and generally being taken care of.

It looks like all my girls have new families, Lisa is happy with hers and Ivy is overjoyed to now have parents that actually loves her and pampers her, Scatach, on the other hand, is in an awkward position.

It is not that her original family didn't love her and treated her well, but they weren't as intimate with her as this new one, even though she is just a baby, she also didn't like feeling useless. It took me some time to calm her down and convince her to just take it as a rest time.

I only managed to convince her by saying that it's like training with weights considering we already know the best way to train if we manage to reach our former level of strength with this new body not only we will do it much faster than the first time but when unlocking full power we would reach new highs of strength, that did the trick.

I'm in an orphanage, I don't have any biological parents in this world, that was a decision of Stella, the girls had a more complicated family structure so now they get to experience good parents, since I'm ok in that department I was just made into a baby and delivered in front of the orphanage.

Lisa says to don't worry, it is all planned out who's going to adopt me but for now, lazy life is the life.

A few years later.

I am now five years old, I am taller and way stronger than other children my age or even above since I have a more mature mindset, more often than not, I help the nuns, nurses, and volunteers that work in the orphanage, becoming a big brother of sorts.

This is a very good place actually, well maintained, and the personnel has a lot of care for the children in here, so much so that the great majority of people who donate and come spend time in here are former residents.

This place also doubles down as a daycare so because of that I pretty much know almost every kid in the neighborhood most of them are taught by me one thing or another and because of that I have the nickname of brainiac.

There is no bullying and overall it is all very harmonious, truth be told since Lisa had a hand in this world I was half expecting some batshit crazy shit happening in the background, and although I already know that this is not as normal as my former Earth and have a few extraordinary things I did not worry too much.

Boy that was a mistake. I was not caught unawares, always vigilant and all that, but two things, not said but screamed to me that this was just the calm before the storm, a happy, excitement-filled, crazy storm that if I'm being honest I look forward to it to the proper start.

The first thing was Lisa, when I commented about how peaceful this word is she made a weird quiet laugh that I could only imagine her adjusting her glasses and saying "keikkaku dori".

The second thing is, I'm now being adopted, I have always had a lot of suspicions about a lot of the people that frequent this place but did not delve too much into it. I already did my preparations for safety so I'm not going to infringe on the private life of these people unless necessary, and since they are not a threat to me aside from reasonable measures I just kept to myself.

Even though I know all these people from anime, right now, they are not characters, they are living beings, and not everything will be like in the media I first saw them. Anyway, the couple that is now adopting me, I frankly can't figure out how they are able to do it if it were on my Earth they would even have lost custody of their two children.

I will just chalk it up to different world different rules. Anyway, there is no custom to introducing yourself with your surname in this orphanage and it is like everyone is a big family, so even if I had my suspicion it meant nothing to me until now.

Saibai:"Wahahaha, now that I'm your father brat I will be able to punish you as I see fit, let's see if you have the guts to bully me again."

Ringo:"Oh shush it, Bai-kun, you totally deserved it, don't listen to him, I know that you will be a great addition to the Yuuki family, take care of us from now on."

Rito:"Wow now, Cad-niisan is really Cad-niisan."

Mikan:"Yatta."

Cad:"You two just want somebody to take care of your kids 24/7 while the two of you go head-deep into your jobs, you two useless parents."

Saibai:"Guh"

Ringo:"Ack"

That's right, the Yuuki, former residents of this orphanage, they grew up together, being childhood friends, got married, and decided to have two children. They have fallen into that pit of not wanting their children to have the same struggles they had to strike big, so they get lost in their jobs making big bucks.

The problem is, with their jobs being so highly demanding their kids spend too much time in the orphanage to the point it wouldn't be weird if someone thought that they are just like any orphan in here.

The employees don't mind as they do donate a lot and help every time they can, and since Rito and Mikan are really good kids they are more than happy to take care of them. Especially Mikan who is a bundle of sugar that gives everyone diabetes.

Saibai:"I-it's not like that, although this is a great bonus, I really appreciate how you took them under your wing and will do our best to repay you, although as you say we are useless parents we feel you deserve the same resources we provide to our blood-related children."

Ringo:"Yes, I am deeply sorry that we won't be able to be as hands-on as we really want to be but don't mistake it as not caring, we love our kids very much, and that now includes you, but I still hope you can forgive us for putting a lot on your shoulder."

Looking at their quilty faces and can't help but sigh, many would complain like some bullshit justice thing but I don't care, we've known each other for two years and they always treated me as their own, and also this is not without consent, I can deny and the headmistress responsible will veto the adoption.

Cad:"Yeah I know I know, that's why I'm going through with it, but don't think I will go easier on you because of this, your kids did not ask to be born and even though it is understandable they are your responsibility and I will make you two get in a somewhat balanced state and not just dump them on me."

Saibai, Ringo:"Yes, sir."

And like that I again fall into my father role, at the beginning, everyone found it weird how I would scold and correct everybody, even more, when was a three year old doing it, but they soon got over it and just chalk it up to Cadmus being Cadmus and put me into a category on my own.

Rito looks at me confused not really understanding what is going on and Mika was still in her Wai phase throwing her little fists in the air with shining eyes saying "Cad-nii is my nii-chan". I start petting her head and she starts enjoying my caress.

There was only one other kid that had its own classification like me but she went on "brides training" after I "saved her"(scolded her) one year ago.

Cad:"We will go over your's schedules when we get home, I'm sure can manage something better, that way I can have regular trips to many things."

Saibai:"Ossu, we'll be counting on you musuko-kun"

Ringo:"Thank you Cadmus-kun."

And with that, I got a new family.

It's had been a few days since I was adopted and I managed to go over my new parents time table, and with a few adjustments in the most hectic months they have, they are able to show up once a week.

They are improving, slowly but surely, this week they are able to stay with us for three days so today, we are spending time in a nearby park playing with other kids. I suggested it so my new parents can start to get acquainted with the neighborhood parent watch and Rito and Mikan make friends.

Reaching the park there are a few guardians on the nearby benches and about seven kids playing by themselves, clearly too shy to get close to one another. two boys that look about my age and another a little younger than Mikan, and another five girls, three at my age and one a little older, and one at the age of Mikan.

I approach the parent conner with mine, they are all a little stiff, and it looks like it is the first time for a lot of them too. Getting closer I hear the comment of the American-looking man standing at the side of a woman, maybe his wife, smoking a cigarette.

???:"Well, I thought It would be better than that but it looks like they are being really shy, hahaha."

He says ending with a dry laugh.

Cad:"At least you guys are standing all together but still you are not much different from them."

Perhaps startled by the snarky comment all parents turn to face us while my parents have wryly smiles on their faces.

???:"Oh, and who might you be youngin'."

Cad:" Normally the one asking is the first one introducing themselves but whatever, I'm Yuuki Cadmus, please take care of me."

I introduce myself and look at my father and with a helpless smile on his face he also introduces himself and his wife.

Saibai:"I am Yuuki Saibai and this is my wife Yuuki Ringo."

Ringo:"It is a pleasure to meet you all."

The rest of the parents look a each other and take this as a cue to also get acquainted, first was one of the two that looked to be without her partner. With a happy smile on her face.

Mamako:"I'm Oosuki Mamako please take care of me everyone, Caa-kun is very mature for his age, please take care of my Maa-kun, he is the three year old sitting in the sandbox."

A gentle mother-like aura seemed to emanate from her.

Nanako:"Oho, what an interesting kid you have, maybe he could spend some time with my daughters so they can grow some balls, Onodera Nanako and I own a confectionery nearby, be sure to go there sometime boy."

The perfect energetic tomboy girl next door.

Yua:"I'm Wu Kanakura Yua and this is my husband Kanakura Wu Li, Nice to meet you all."

Polite but sincere.

Li:"A pleasure."

Hey, that was too "to the point", well it seems like he is still nervous

Gen:"Wahahahah Domo, Tachibana Gen, well done young man even I was having some difficulty breaking the ice."

Hoho seems like a too-honest kind of guy, I wonder how he got all these scars.

Chika:"Tachibana Chika"

Issei:"hoh what a peculiar lad, Ichijou Issei, and my wife Ichijou Hina."

A hawk-eyed man introduced himself and his wife who had a gentle smile on her face and politely nodded

Adelt:"Yes, I do thank you young man as ashamed as I am to confess I'm not used to this kind of stuff, I'm Adelt Wogner Kirasaki."

He screams nice guy vibes.

And last was the woman who thrown the question at me and called me youngin'. She behaved a little like a delinquent and was looking me up and down as if appraising me.

Hana:"You seem like a good young man, even though you look to be my daughter's age, Kirasaki Hana."

She concludes while nodding.

And with that out of that way, the conversation starts in an effort of getting to know each other, some talking more and some talking less. Well it looked like most of the women studied together when younger but most of them have fallen out of contact which aggravated the awkward mood earlier.

But even though things were improving on the parent's side, the kid's side was just sad to look at and all the parents, except one, were getting increasingly worried, casting their sights more and more on them. The worst part was the pleading eyes that said parents were throwing at me asking me to do something.

I sigh and go there the only kids that were actually having fun were Rito and Mikan playing in the swing, the rest was scattered around with, a what do I do now, faces.

Cad:"Rito, Mikan."

Rito, Mikan:"Hai, Cad-nii"

Cad:"Let's round up the kids, just ask them normally like in the orphanage."

Rito, Mikna:"Ok"

At first, the other kids were startled, but Rito and Mikan were already used to calling other children to play and had no problem gathering the lot, standing at the front of the group I pace around from side to side with my hands on my back looking at them, who were quite confused by my actions.

Cad:" Ok rugrats it has come to my attention that no one is having fun, so the superiors requested me specifically to make you have fun, any questions?"

More confusion issues.

Cad:"The playground it's empty and we have it all to ourselves and we have a duty to play in everything it has to offer. We have a tight schedule and I want to see everyone helping each other, no one is left behind in this company."

All of them are just lost in confusion but all too happy to simply have something to do and want to go along with it.

??:"Hey and who put you in charge? I'm the oldest one here."

Cad:"Oh, feel free to go back to your corner and resume light pole gazing."

I deadpan look at her who blushes and pouts looking away from me.

Cad:"But first we have to know each other, when I shout, name, I want to hear everyone shouting their names, do you understand???"

They look at each and there were a bunch o lazy yes with only Rito and Mikan giving a resolute answers.

Cad:"*sigh* Again, DO YOU UNDERSTAND???"

Everybody:"Yes"

Cad:"I DIDN'T HEAR YOU"

Everybody:"YES"

Cad:"LAUDER"

Everybody:"YEESSSS"

Cad:"NAMES."

Rito:"RITO

Mikan:"MIKAN

Yui:"YUI"

Kosaki:"KOSAKI

Haru:"HARU

Raku:"RAKU"

Marika:"MARIKA"

Chitoge:"CHITOGE"

Masato:"MAA-KUN"

Cad:"NOW LET'S PLAY"
