11 A PAIN IN THE ARSE

She twirled the spaghetti with her fork and looked up. The look that fell on her face told us that she was surprised by the way we stared at her.  She looked at both of us before laughing slightly. "What? I was just giving my own opinion about him. You have to understand that everyone's not the same. You hate his domineering attitude but it works perfectly fine for me. She blinked twice rapidly and added "Besides, every real Alpha is born that way. I see no reason, therefore, to reject him like that."

"That's Alexa for you." My sister chipped in. Susan was a sense, but Walker was et you that's because you have no idea what it feels like when somebody constantly invades your personal space. Come on, I don't owe him anything. He is not even my fated mate!" I seemed to have lost it with the way I raised my voice, causing a few stares in our direction. I flushed and sipped from the bottled water again.

"And how would you know that?" Susan joked and winked mischievously at me.

"Pray it never happens" I laughed "Else I'm gonna kill you. I can't live with his type."

"Alexa I just feel that you don't like him because you think your behaviour, the way you both behave does not match at all." I flushed at the comments Susan was making. This time I lowered my gaze to the plate before me.

"I think that's ok guys," Jordan said "Let us talk about something else please"

Susan and Gabriella were now laughing at top of their voice at how I had responded to Susan's comments. I picked up the fork and began to eat again, ignoring the way they laughed and the things they said in between.

"I was going to ask you something, Alexa. Will, you also becoming because I have something to discuss with you." Derrick asked straight-face, seemingly not enjoying the discussion. Maybe he was jealous, I reckoned, about the lewd comments made about his fellow man. His blonde hair was in a mess.

I thought about the way he behaved again and knew why he seemed not to be interested. I knew he was hurting deep down. Walker was not the only person flirting with me, Derrick also did. But he was different because he gave me the space I needed. He was handsome but not hot like the ruggedly handsome and insanely hot Walker. He was nearly the exact opposite of Walker. He was quiet and sometimes socially awkward when we were together. Sometimes he made sure we discussed something every day but sometimes he withdrew into the background and wouldn't even look when I did, making me disregard him sometimes.

"Uum...Probably, yeah, I think so," I responded, avoiding eye contact with him. It would be pretty cool if I met him tonight, maybe that will blow the cobwebs away, I thought while cutting myself some of the meat before me.

"O.k, till then," he said. I was a bit surprised because he had never asked me out when we were in a group. Was he also fighting for a place, I thought and chuckled within. True to my expectation, Gabriella gave me a sidelong glance and looked away immediately, clearing her throat. It took so much restricting the laughter that would have erupted from me at that instant. That would have embarrassed Derrick for sure. Derrick began eating again.

Gabriella and Susan began to talk about the training this morning at the Packhouse while I barely listened. Despite being able to eat, I was lost in thought. At times I felt like an outlaw. Whenever I was in the midst of a group, I felt like a real rogue. I am very certain that they would never make me think that way on purpose but I was not very interested in the drills or whatever they were talking about.

I felt my wolf was disturbed. She began to growl uncomfortably. The feeling was strange as I had felt that a few times in my whole life. It felt as if somebody was watching her, somebody who was dangerous. Somebody who had an evil thought in their mind. It was another ability the werewolves had. My wolf was alarmed as time passed.

I had no other option than to look around to know who this was but I found nothing incriminating, everyone was talking excitedly while picking at their food. I looked around again, yet there was nobody watching. It made me more uncomfortable because I didn't have a hint about who was watching me.

I did not stop watching. My eyes kept scanning the facade, yet I didn't see anybody. I only met people who locked eyes with me when they noticed my discomfort. Gabriella was soon looking at me, her brows arched because of the way I continuously turned. Just as I was about to give up, I met the eyes that were staring directly at me. My heart skipped a beat as I struggled to catch my breath when I saw those sapphire eyes. I quickly blinked and turned while I sighed. I looked back at him again. Walker was leaning in the doorway, staring at me as if he was planning on hurting me.

Why was he gazing at me in that manner like some serial killer who was watching the movement of his next victim? It unnerved me so much that it chilled my spine. I looked back at him and returned his gaze. He continued to look at me for a while before he looked away. I flushed when he looked away but I reckoned it was a great achievement since I had never felt comfortable staring at him. I think that should mean something to him.

He was no longer looking now, he was now looking towards his friend's table. I continued to feel uncomfortable as I mentally imagined that he was still looking at me. I glanced in his direction at intervals to know if I caught him staring at me. I chewed the remaining meat on my plate and stood from my sight, sighing.

Derrick was also looking at me now, adding to my unease. I would make sure he did not look like a problem.

"I will see you guys later." I felt like running away. My life has always been that way, running from one thing or the other. Tonight I was also going to run. I wondered what my crime was that fate decided to treat me this way. I always had people constantly annoying me with one thing or the other and I could not stop it, perhaps because I was too weak to stop them.

"Really? Come on Alexa, what are you leaving for." Gabriella sharply looked at me and objected to my leaving between mouthfuls.

"I am sorry guys but I have tons of work waiting to be done," I replied to her, looking tired. "I will come to see you tomorrow Gabriel."

"No problem" she replied and began to eat again, looking disinterested.

"Yeah, he should be waiting in your room." Susan was back with her annoying comments. I rolled my eyes and leaned toward Derrick. "Would you mind walking me to the car park?"

I had assured him that I was going to meet with him tonight. I did all I could to avoid Walker's gaze as we left the hall.

Even as we were leaving, he was still standing right there at the door, gazing steadily at me. One thing I wasn't going to entertain was having two people fight over me, not after my nasty history.

I was not comfortable until I got to my room. It felt as if Walker was right behind me, breathing down my neck with his domineering attitude. I sighed heavily as I pressed the power button and very soon my fingers were dancing on the keyboards. I still had much work to do.
