Your Harris
Episode 11
Arya crossed the road after she got off the bus and Robert was right there waiting for her. He welcomed her with somewhat a sad smile.
"Let's go"
They got to where Arya's Mum was buried and Arya dropped the flowers she had bought. They bowed their heads a little. Arya's face welled up with tears as she watch the nameless grave, it was like her mum didn't exist on earth at all,she also blamed herself for losing memories of her Mum.
"Jenny, Hi, it's been a while, isn't it? I'm so sorry that I found you so late, I'm so sorry that even when I found you I don't have anything to give you as such... It's because like before, I'm in a financial crisis, only you of course understands that I like to take risks,also you remember how both of us promised to not remarry if something happened?, I kept my promise" Robert chuckled.
" However, I found something.... Someone else. She's your daughter. I'm so happy to be able to bring her to you, myself" Robert said and motioned for Arya to speak up.
"Hi mum. It's Arya. I really don't know what to say to you but I want you to feel at ease wherever you are. You're probably worried that I'm not doing well but in fact I know how to take care of myself. You're probably sorry for leaving me so soon but I got over every problem I went through, all thanks to thinking that I'll get to speak to you one day, like this or in person but I guess it was meant to be like this. I'm sorry that I don't really remember much about you, I don't know what happened to me.. I just woke up one day and found out you were gone and I couldn't remember anything. From now on, I'll try my best to remember our good memories together. I'll always love you, Mum" Arya said and smiled.
Robert patted her back." Well done. I believe she's at peace now, she has seen the people she loves most in the world"
" Ah, right. I have something for you" Robert said and brought something in a box out of his pocket.
"Here... Open it" Arya took the small black box and opened it. In it was a beautiful shiny silver necklace.
"This....
"It was your mother's. I used all that I saved up to get this on our fifth year anniversary which also happened to be her birthday. She really loved the necklace and promised to pass it on to our first child" Robert smiled.
" Still, you bought it with your money, you should hold unto it, plus I'm not your daughter"
" Eyy, I told you not to say that again. You're my wife's daughter and we're family. She wanted her daughter to have it so it's only right that I give it to you. It's very precious... wear it everyday"
" Thank you very much" Arya said and closed the box before putting it in her back.
"I've already done what you've always wanted. We'll go now and see you often from now on. Let's go Arya" Robert said and Arya nodded, she bowed her head once again before following Robert.
"By the way, where do you live?" Arya asked as they approached the exit.
" Me? I stay in a sauna for now. I mentioned that I'm in a financial crisis but it'll be all good if I get a small amount of money. I'm a builder, working under a construction company, we're yet to finish the project and they didn't pay us either, so I just have to keep living at the sauna until then. I need to go to work now, I can't be absent for too long. When we meet another time, I want you to wear the necklace, okay? " Robert said and patted Arya's back before crossing the road, he took a bus and off he went.
Arya looked at the time and wondered why Emma didn't text her,she had asked Emma to send Louis' location because she wanted to see Harris and he wasn't picking her calls. Arya dialed her number and was about to cross the road when a car pulled up in front of her.
The driver wound down the window of the car and smiled.
"Hey finnie, can I take you to wherever you're going?"
" Emma! What the hell are you doing here?" Arya asked while laughing.
" Get in first"
"I wanted to see how you were doing, after all you came to see your mum. I know how you are when it comes to that . I'm sure surprised to see you looking like this. What about the man? Your stepfather?" Emma asked as soon as Arya got in the car.
"Ah..Robert? He left a while ago in a bus. He works in a construction company so he's busy. Thanks for being here but I'm okay, I feel relieved" Arya sighed.
"That's good. I'm glad everything is sorted out .. except your seven dates" Emma laughed. " I'm kinda excited"
"Argh... The dates, I wish it'll get cancelled. I don't think I can withstand sitting opposite someone I know absolutely nothing about."
" That's the purpose of the date, to get to know each other. Just do the dates and find a way to quickly escape from marriage"
" I have an idea. Emma, help me. Let's act weird and make my date run away from me. Maybe, let's act like we're bewitched.. you'll be the virgin ghost and I'll be your messenger of death" Arya smiled mischievously.
"I'm no virgin ghost and you know it. Besides, why do that? It's just date... I want you to experience it too, so I'll do my best to help you out with the date not acting weird. I still plan to get married, if I get called a virgin ghost everywhere I go to, do you think anyone will want to marry me? Stop being ridiculous" Emma chuckled.
" But we'll be wearing costumes and make up" Arya muttered to herself and Emma laughed.
"I refuse. I can only help you get your shopping done for your dates, otherwise, I'm busy. Now let's go meet your Harris, He's always together with his friends today" Emma teased.
"My Harris! He's not mine... Wait, I already told you how I don't like him how could you mention his name to tease me. You're cruel"
" Fine, I'm sorry" Emma said while laughing.
" Just drive me there, I'll sort things out with him today." Arya ordered.
"What's happening between two of you? Is he still on your neck for pushing him into the pool?"
"It's complicated... I'll explain later" Arya replied
" Yes ma'am! " Emma knew Arya didn't like to talk about herself, she knew something was probably going on but Arya didn't like asking for help. She had no choice but to find out by herself from Harris or wait till Arya explains.
