Chapter 8 - Upgrade
Ye Feng looked at the new System Prompt with stars in his eyes, he had finally found how to raise his relation with the 3 Entities, in those 6 months, he hadn't found how to raise his relation, much to his fear since he had a high chance of dying from them 5 years later.
Ye Feng didn't see any prompt asking if he accepted the Request, meaning, he was forced to do it, Ye Feng didn't think much and went back to his den, he didn't sleep but started training, he trained for 1 hour before going to sleep.
Ye Feng woke up the moment the sun rose and opened his Attribute Panel, he wondered if his System might help him train faster,

Ye Feng looked down, it seems he couldn't become stronger through his System, yet, as he was about to close the System, he noticed 2 new tabs appearing at the top, [Request] and... [Upgrade]. He first opened the [Request] Tab, and, sure enough, it showed him the currently active Request, as for the [Upgrade] tab, when he opened it, Ye Feng's eyes glimmered.

Ye Feng used his Mental Power and pressed the (+) and received another System Prompt

Ye Feng expected that result when he saw the Energy value being shown and started thinking, he had 2 hypotheses, energy either came from the death of other beings with the exception of plants or he could gather energy by cultivating.
Ye Feng started cultivating using [Furbun's Rise] for around 15 minutes, after re-opening the Upgrade panel, he didn't see any change in his Energy value so his second hypothesis was considered incorrect, he then started considering the first hypothesis.
He first started eating before continuing to work on the barrel, he shook down a few trees then directly started training, in the set of knowledge he had received, cultivating when one was completely spent mentally, the cultivating efficiency would be increased although cultivating would be harder.
Ye Feng continued cultivating until his will made him unable to continue, he spread his remaining Mental Power around him and noticed that the range of his Mental Power was about 11 meters, it had increased by 10%.
Ye Feng didn't know if that was a good result or if it was a mediocre result, one thing for sure was that if he kept this pace, in the next 6 months, he will at the very least reach a few hundreds meters of range.
He started resting for a while and when he felt his Mental Power coming back, he forced himself to drag the trees he had shook down until his den, luckily, he had learned from the previous time and so, he didn't go too far although he had increased the load, it took him a few hours but he had done it, the first thing he did after coming back was eating then cultivating.
Then, he worked on his barrel, when he finally finished making the twenty or so staves, he started working on both heads [lids] of the barrel and the crozes which would help keep the heads in place.
When he finished, he assembled them, he kept the staves in place with the help of the wooden hoops and used the crozes to keep the head in place, he then made a small hole on the head of one side of the barrel and made a wooden bung to close that hole.
When he felt that everything was ready, he first cultivated then dragged it to the lake and filled it with water, due to how small the hole was, the barrel took time to be filled but at the very least, it was safe since fishes couldn't enter it, Ye Feng put the bung in place and returned home with his newly acquired barrel full of water.
Ye Feng was completely exhausted since he took the entire day on working, he drunk and ate before sleeping without cultivating first even though it would help him grow stronger. After a good night of sleep, Ye Feng sighed since he knew that a day of hard work awaited him.
He first started by going outside, he searched for any kinds of plants, when he found one, he would inspect it and see if there was fiber, if there was, it'd keep it, if there weren't, Ye Feng would just throw it away, when he estimated that he found enough fibers, he started weaving them into a net.
The net was extremely poorly made, it looked like it could be destroyed with even the weakest tear, nonetheless, Ye Feng found it to be fine, he grabbed it with his Mental Power and went to the Lake. He put the net into the water and when he saw a fish wandering alone and was a bit too close to the net, Ye Feng took a shot and used his net to scoop up the fish.
Sadly, the net was too poorly-made, the fish struggled a bit and tore through the net, Ye Feng looked at his destroyed net sadly and sighed, 'It seems I should've just done that from the beginning' Ye Feng thought.
Ye Feng used his Mental Power and directly grabbed a fish, he didn't use too much strength so as to not lose energy, yet, he used right enough for the fish not to escape from his grasp, he grabbed the fish, left the water with it then threw it on the ground, Ye Feng then used his Mental Power like a hammer, directly smashing the poor fish into pieces.
Ye Feng felt exhausted, 'I might've overdone it', he thought, he hopped a little further from the lake, scared that the other fishes might be attracted by the scent of blood, and started cultivating up on a tree just to be even safer.
When he finished cultivating, Ye Feng noticed a small mouse gnawing at the pieces of the fish he had just killed, he didn't even react, he just looked at his [Upgrade] panel, and, sure enough, his energy value had just increased by 2, the percentage had also increased by 0.1%! He clicked on the [+] again and looked at the amount of energy required, it had fallen by 0.5, it seemed that he could also work to lower the price of using the System, thus, if he was at 99%, it wouldn't cost as much as if he was at 0% luckily or else Ye Feng would've want to ram his head into a tree.
