Chapter 6 - Grief

From afar, Ye Feng saw his family and screamed

"I'M HERE!"

The family quickly hopped in his direction after seeing him, yet, they suddenly stopped, behind them was an elderly Furbun, looking exactly like Ye Feng's mother if not for its fur slowly turning gray.

Ye Feng stopped hopping when he saw them stop and waited for the elderly Furbun to speak, the unknown Furbun hopped in Ye Feng's direction and stopped about 5 meters from him, Ye Feng quickly noticed Mental Power being gathered on him.

When Ye Feng felt this immense Mental Power, he started trembling in fear, the difference in Mental Power made him feel oppressed like he was in front of a giant that could kill him on a whim, 'He should be one of the Furbuns that can cultivate' Ye Feng thought.

After a few minutes of being scrutinized by this Mental Power, Ye Feng finally felt it disappearing from his body and heaved a sigh of relief, he then looked at the elderly Furbun with expectation, he hoped that nothing wrong had happened.

"Have you come in contact with a human?" The Elderly Furbun spoke

Ye Feng nodded much to the shock and fear of his mother, her fear made the ignorant siblings fearful as they wondered what kind of creatures were so scary that even their mother was scared.

The elderly Furbun went and whispered something to the mother who looked like she couldn't be more scared, she looked with grief at Ye Feng and left with the siblings and the elderly furbun, leaving Ye Feng behind.

"You've been marked, you can't come back home anymore or else our homes will be found by Humans, you'll still be allowed to come back in 6 months for the grand ceremony which will happen at the center of the Forest but you'll have to travel alone to reach that place, until then, you'll have to survive on your own. As for the fruit wrapped in leaves, you'd better throw it away, it's a poisonous fruit that will cause your demise. Oh and, if you want to remove that mark, you'll have to kill the people that marked you."

Ye Feng was paralyzed in shock when he heard the voice transmitted directly to his head, 'If they didn't come..' he thought, he shivered in fear as to what would happen that would cause them to be so scared, would he have caused the deaths of the entire Furbun village? Or maybe something even worse would've happened to them?

But with what the Elderly Furbun said to him, he kept in mind that Humans seemed to be an extremely dangerous race in this world and that he had to never approach them or believe them, he wasn't even sure if the Blue Wolf was actually a wild beast or if it wasn't a Soul-Beast and the fight was just an act used to fool Furbuns into thinking they were good people.

'Wait but if they can mark me why didn't they mark me then go on in their life?' Ye Feng thought, he quickly had one hypothesis :

Marking takes an extremely long time which explains why they dragged him until the inner area of the forest.

In the end, he wouldn't be able to verify his hypothesis, he had to find a way to survive until 6 months passed, although he didn't know what would happen in this grand ceremony, if the elder mentioned it, it must've been important, he also needed to find a way to remove the marking... Which would mean he had to kill either Liu Huichen or Chu Yixue.

If he had to pick one, he'd immediately pick Liu Huichen but he had a feeling Chu Yixue might've more to do about it, maybe her having him in her grasp was also one of the conditions of the marking?

Either way, without being able to cultivate, it would be extremely hard to remove the marking, thus, for now, he had to find a way to live in this forest, he decided to make a den where he met his family, who knows, they might be able to help him?

Ye Feng quickly worked and dug a hole that was enough for him to hide in but it was at arms reach for any predator, even if they couldn't enter the hole, yet, he didn't continue since he was getting hungry and tired, the Mental Power from the elderly Furbun seemed to have taken a toll on him?

He hopped in random directions without forgetting to make small markings, he'd also spread his Mental Power around him to detect any living beings, thus making it harder for him to be sneak attacked or to miss any edible plants, spreading his mental power didn't use much since it didn't require any power output.

Very easily, Ye Feng found a few edible plants and directly devoured them before going back to his hole and started to dig again, when he felt tired, he rested and then went back to work, he continued to do this until he had a den big enough for him to hide from most predators and enough for him to store his plants.

Now that he made a house, he needed to make it comfortable to live in, he picked up some dry leaves outside and made a bed with it, it wasn't that comfortable but it was better than sleeping on the ground, he then picked up a few twigs and a few rocks and made a small campfire, he'd light it when it was Winter since he didn't know how harsh winter would be, his dense fur might not be enough, he also had to store a lot of food since, in winter, most plants would die.

And, even though there might be some winter-only plants, he would still be unable to determine if they were poisonous, finally, on the wall, he made a line to help him keep track of time, this world was similar to Earth in that regard since there were 12 months in a year and around 30 days per months.

After making this line, he realized the benefit of living like this, his odds of having lucky chances were increased and he might even reach the next rank of luck in those 6 months?
