In For A Bumpy Ride

Hi! Before the story begins, I just want to make a brief introduction to the story. I'm sorry I forgot to do that in the beginning. So this story is set in a continent called Wol. Werewolves are the main inhabitants of this continent but there are minor numbers of witches, wizards, sacred bones, foxes, and other mystical creatures. Wol is divided into four empires; the Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern Empires.

Each Empire is made up of several packs. The Northern Eastern has ten packs, Eastern has fifteen, Western has twenty and Southern has eight. Alpha Lyell's pack is Starmoon, a pack in the Western empire. His pack is the most prosperous in the continent which makes him well respected throughout the continent.

The Western empire is the largest and the home of many mineral resources. It is also the home of many economical trees, food, and cash crops. Their economy is solid and blooming. The Northern Empire is known for its medicinal herbs. The best physicians are produced in this land. Their economy is based on medicine. The Eastern empire is next to the Western in terms of economy. They produce a wide range of timber and rubber. A tree called the sunset tree, which is used in making exotic tea can also be found in this empire. The Southern Empire is the home of the main rivers. They are good fisher people.

They trade their resource with one another.

Of course, we have the main characters - Alpha Lyell Viceroy, Aleena Cyril, Alpha Valko Viceroy, Mingen Amadeus (Lyell's best friend), and Valerie Wolfgang (Valko's half-sister and Aleena's best friend). More characters would be introduced as the story unfolds and I hope you stay with me till then.

That's pretty much it. Let's dive into the story now, shall we?

Mingen's Point Of View

I rose from my bed and glanced at the wall clock. Jeez, I woke up so late. It's 8 a.m. I left my room for the bathroom to clean up. I wore a pair of black comfortable sweat pants and topped them with a white T-shirt. I wore my sandals and made for the royal stables. I need to take my horse for a morning walk.

"Good morning, sire." Justin, the stable boy, greeted me as I approached him. I flashed him a smile.

"Slept well?" He asks and I nodded. I went to Stallion, my horse. She neighed happily when she saw me.

"Good morning, girl. Slept well?" I kissed her head and took her by her rein. I was about to climb when I heard some muffled voices. I told Justin to hold her for me while I go check out what was happening. I trailed the voices to the direction they were coming from. Gosh! These men. Is this what they are supposed to be saying?

"Is it true?" Trevor, one of the gammas, ask as he chewed on God knows what. I leaned on the wall as I watched them.

"I don't know how true it is but that rumor has been going around since yesterday! The locals say Alpha Lyell found his mate."

Mate? Lyell found his mate? Tch! I guess he isn't mateless after all.

"But then..they said something baffling." They continued to gossip. "They say his mate is a sacred bone."

What?! I left my position and went to them. They all flinched in fear when they saw me.

"S...sire, we..we were just...

"What did you mean?" I ask Trevor.

"Sir?"

"What did you mean by Lyell having a sacred bone as mate?!" I fired, making him to shiver in fear.

"Um...I...I don't know how true it is but I heard some women talking about it in the market today. They say Alpha Lyell declared a sacred bone as his mate at Aloha Valko's birthday party two days ago."

"Are you sure of what you're saying?"

He shook his head. "They might be baseless rumors, sire."

"If I hear you men spread this rumor around the palace, you won't like what I'm going to do to you. And would you get your butts off the ground and go to your duty posts? Grown-up men gossiping early in the morning, you should be ashamed of yourselves."

I hissed and left, but not without giving them a warning glare. What the hell did I just hear? It better not be. Lyell is not that stupid and rash to do something like that. What am I saying? That asshole can be very rash sometimes.

"Good morning, sire."

I nodded at the guard as I passed beside him.

"Where is the Queen?" I ask the guard guarding the entrance of the queen's residence.

"She's inside, sire."

"Thanks."

I went in but I couldn't find her in the living room. Maybe she's still resting?

"Your majesty?" I called but I didn't get any reply. I heard the sound of the tap running from outside so I took the back door out. I found her wetting the flowers.

"Your highness." I bowed in respect.

"Good morning, Mingen. Has a good sleep?"

"Yes, and you?"

She smiled. "I slept quite well."

I glanced at the roses she is wetting. "Your roses have grown quite well, your highness."

"I know, right? Beautiful, aren't they?"

I nodded and she sighed. She stared at me for some seconds before she said, "I'm guessing you're here concerning the rumors, am I right?"

"Indeed, you are your highness. You don't think Lyell really did as they are saying, do you?"

She let down the hose and squatted to uproot the growing weeds. "What do you think, Mingen?"

"I don't understand how you can be so calm, your highness. This matter is not a small one. The rumors are circulating in the market. It's only a small amount of time before it reaches other empires. I don't even want to think about what will happen if the rumors turn out to be true. Lyell could lose his throne!"

She chuckled. "You're the same, Mingen. Worrying to death whenever Lyell gets into trouble, just like when you were young."

"Respectfully, your highness, this is not the time to reminisce about the sweet past," I said in sarcasm and she laughed. She stood up and turned to me.

"Let's wait till he arrives, hm? Then we'll know what to do."

Ugh! Things might go haywire before he arrives. What if the council gets to hear about this? Those oldies would certainly not take it lightly with him.

"Stop worrying, Mingen. Come, have a cupcake."

"I'm not hungry."

"Really? Your loss then."

I brushed my hair with my fingers in frustration. What is going on?

"I'll leave now, your highness."

"Notify me when Lyell arrives."

"I will."

On my way back to my residence, I ran into Trevor.

"Gosh, I've been looking for you!"

"What happened?"

"Alpha Lyell! He is back!"

Lyell's Point Of View

"Careful. Here, let me help you down."

She glanced at my stretched hand. "No, thank you. I can alight myself."

I tucked my stretched hand into my pocket in embarrassment. She got down and the coachman rode bid us goodbye.

"Welcome, to my palace, Aleena."

She looked around. "No one is here."

"This is the back of the palace. A lot of people would be expecting me at the front and I guess that would have been uncomfortable for you."

She was about to say something when Mingen's angry voice boomed. "Lyell!"

Here we go.

"Hey, man. Missed me?" I teased, spreading my arms for a hug with a big grin on my face.

"Don't give me that bullshit. What did you..." He paused when he saw Aleena. A menacing frown found its way to his face. "So the rumors are true." He said calmly but I could feel the rage in his voice.

"Technically...

"You brought a sacred bone to the pack as your mate?!" He fired. "Are you out of your fucking mind?! What were you thinking!!"

"Shhh, keep your voice down. You're scaring her."

"Who the fuck cares about the little feelings of a sacred bone!"

"Mingen!" I thundered. He swallowed and took a step back. Gosh! I don't like going 'alpha' on him. "Sorry but don't... don't insult her. It makes me angry."

He huffed in frustration and threw a glare at Aleena. His glare lingered on her for a while before he stumped back in anger.

"Are you okay?" I ask Aleena as I turned to her. She nodded but I could see the fear in her eyes. She looked as if she was holding a big air in.

"Breathe, Aleena." She let out a deep breath and I smiled.

"W..who was that?"

"Mingen. My best friend."

"Gosh, he's so scary."

"He's like that most of the time. Come, let's go."

I took her hand and led her in. I took her through a secret passageway that led to my room. She shouldn't meet anyone at the moment. It could cause chaos.

"Where are we?"

"My room."

She hummed and sat on the bed.

" You stay here while I go out and...

"You're gonna leave me here? All alone?"

I smirked. "Why? Scared?"

She rolled her eyes. "Of course not."

I laughed lightly and bent before her. "No one comes in here without my permission so you'll be fine."

She nodded and I stood back up. I made to leave but she held my hand. I looked down at my hand and she let go abruptly. "J..just be careful."

I winked. "I will."

I left my room and made for my mother's residence. I didn't fail to notice the looks the guards and workers gave me. I met Mingen with my mother.

"You've come to tell on me already?" I ask. "Your highness." I bowed in respect.

"Is it true, son? Did you bring a sacred bone home?" I gulped and stood straight. "Yes, mother."

Seeing the disappointment on her face, I knew I was in for a bumpy ride.
