FATED TO ALPHA HUNTER BY VENNEH LISAH

CHAPTER TWO

𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗔'𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗩

Two weeks quickly passed by, I still didn't want to make friends though the cologne together with the suppressors perfectly covered my scent, I could not take chances. I had picked scents of a few vampires in the school but I never spoke or asked anyone about them, seemingly, 90% of the population were humans.

Wednesday afternoon being a games day, everyone was in their games skit including Hunter and his friend Mylar. For whatever reason, I hated seeing Mylar and Hunter together, I understood that they were friends or rather they had been friends for a long time now but it rubbed me off the wrong way seeing them in each others space especially when Mylar laughed hitting Hunter on his biceps as they walked into the game area, a huge lump formed in my throat, just like that, the rest of my day was ruined. I wanted out of the game area ASAP.

" She will one day become our Luna, they look so good together and they vibe so well don't they?" Rina my classmate asked. I forced a smile and answered, "Yes they look so good together." The lump in my throat become painfully big. I felt so terrible, my knees felt weak. I turned to take my leave when a voice rang from behind me, a voice that had a radiating great aura which commanded respect and authority.

" Which game are you going to try out today Ania Talia? I noticed that you hardly play." The voice belonged to none other than Hunter. I turned to face him.

"Excuse me Alpha Hunter, excuse me Mylar, Sister Ania, I will see you in class tomorrow." Having said that Rina left leaving me with the two.

" I am sorry Alpha Hunter, I don't think I feel like partaking in any games yet. Can I sit out on this one as I think of which game I can play, maybe next week?" I pleaded.

" First of all it's just Hunter, I am not the Alpha we don't have that here. Secondly, you have to engage yourself in a game since everyone here is actively engaged in games and you will not be an exception, if I was to advise you, maybe you could try running on the tracks or wrestling or basketball. Or better still, why don't you try your hands in all the games as you gauge yourself? when you know what you are good at you can stick to that." He said as he smiled down at me .

" Alpha can I please...." I started but he interrupted me.

"No you won't!...run along now." He said giving me a gentle push. My body had this sensation from his touch that couldn't be explained. This was not the first time he was touching me, though every time he touched me, the sensation increased. I couldn't say of the same for other guys that I came in contact with. What was different with or about Hunter?

"Hey Ania come on I will race you down, if you don't mind." Joe shouted walking up to us. "No!! NADA!! ZILCH!!" Hunter firmly objected! I knew Joe was a werewolf from the time I came to Mooncrest, he must also have known that I was one too but we never discussed about it.

" No Joe, I will race her down." Hunter snarled.

" Back down boys, I will race Ania." Mylar chimed in, she must have gotten the scent of testosterone filling the air as the two almost ripped off their auras .

" Stand down Mylar, I said I will race her down the same goes for you Joe. After all I am the leader who should personally gauge her abilities " Hunter told them.

" The same way you personally gauged the abilities of other students! stop being biased!" Mylar stated sacarsticaly. "All the other students were gauged by their captains. Didn't they?" Mylar continued.

There was a loud silence before Joe said, "Why can't we let Ania choose for herself among the three of us, who she wishes to race her down?" The three of them stared at me. Then there was a loud booming voice in my head.

"Please choose me, Ania please choose me." It was Hunter's voice.

" What...." I spoke out loudly.

" You heard that? " The voice in my mind came again and I didn't know how to answer without the being loud so I nodded" We are waiting Ania." Mylar said.

" Listen to me Ania it will be such a shame if you don't pick me." Hunter was in my mind again.

"I choose all of you, so catch me if you can." I said sprinting off towards the race tracks. "Bad; bad gal!" Hunter hissed in my mind and I laughed out loud. In a split second he was running beside me on my left, Joe on my right and Mylar was at the front giggling. "LAZYBONES!" She shouted and continued running. There was no way I was going to allow myself be beaten by the three, so I stopped at my tracks and doubled over feigning an injury while touching my ankle.

" Ouch, ouch, ouch! " I cried and they all came back to where I was. " Are you okay?" Hunter who was the first one to squat to my ankle . Mylar and Joe bent over. "Ania please sit down so I can have a look at your ankle." I giggled and thrusted enough pressure to my legs, gaining enough momentum and energy. I somersaulted over Mylar who was directly ahead of me and started running again. "Gotcha!" I screamed while giggling leaving them confused for a second.

"That is cheating! *_hii imeenda_* !" Joe complained.

"Nobody said that I couldn't, besides no one gave me the rules." I shouted back at him while giggling. I finished the first lap as the rest were way behind me. The whole school had stopped their games and were all cheering and chanting my name. I never felt so special! after completing my laps, I walked straight into the locker room and bathroom, I didn't try any other games but that made me feel really good.

Having cleaned up, I changed into a fresh outfit. As I walked out of the locker room, Hunter was standing outside with a towel on his neck. He had this heavenly scent, probably from the shower gel he had used.

"How could you do that, as in speak in my mind." I asked walking past him and he followed me. "I don't know how but maybe it's because you are not human after all!" He dropped that as a bomb to me, I twirled to face him .

"Don't worry I knew from the first day that you were not a human, your secret is safe with me." He told me. I exhaled and he smiled. "Why did you guys let me win the race? I know for sure that you could out run me." I said changing the subject.

"Because no one has ever beaten me at the tracks, I wanted you to be the one to break the record." Hunter told me.

"Can I please walk you to your room Ania? " Joe asked after joining us in the hallway and if I wasn't mistaken, I saw Hunter's eye glitch. He adjusted the patch on his eye, stared wildly at Joe as if he was going to turn savage before he smiled. "NO!!....Males are not supposed to go to female hostels, it is unacceptable." Hunter spoke.

"Since when has that been a problem? " Joe addressed Hunter.

"Since I said that it was." Hunter told him. He gazed at Joe's eyes and his eyes dilated. " Nice time Ania. Excuse me Alpha Hunter." Joe was gone. I excused myself too and started walking towards the hostel with my head down not wanting to get anyone's attention. But there were murmurings from other ladies in my paths though they were speaking in whispers, I could hear them loud and clear due to my heightened hearing.

"This is the new girl, the one the games coach can't hide his interest from." One gal spoke.

"Really the coach , interested in this funny looking gal? how? She downs a bottle of cologne making her smell like shit." Another one said.

"The coach has his eyes only on principal Mylar maybe he only cares because she is new." Said another.

"We were all new at some point he never showed us such interest."

I picked out my earphones and plugged them to my phone and then to my ears I didn't want to hear anymore of what they said.

I opened my door and let myself into the room and gasped for air when I saw Mylar seated on my bed going through a magazine. I felt like going feral on her. I didn't like her a bit. I didn't like how she was all over Hunter's space not to mention her being in my room without my permission.

"What are you doing here aren't you supposed to be in the pack house cooking for your friend the alpha or something?" My pissed off voice was out of control.

"I came to see how my new student was holding up. Forgive me for letting myself in without your permission." Mylar stated. She licked her index finger and used it to turn a page as I stared at her. "There is a pool party this weekend at the school's swimming area where we welcome our newbies . I am officially inviting you to it. You can get to meet everyone in school and get to understand the clubs or seniority that you would join and be part of in your stay here. " Mylar told me.

"I am not interested. I will not come. I am good." I blankly told her.

"The more you try being invisible the more you are arousing curiosity in students and teachers. Try putting yourself out there, try being normal, if not, we will start snooping around and it won't end well for a lycan lone wolf." My heart pulmutted to my stomach at her words, she also knew?

"Don't worry Hunter never hides anything from me, I know you are not human." Mylar added. So Hunter didn't keep it a secret as he said." And tell you what, I am not cooking for my friend tonight it's not my work, further more it's Thursday he always goes to town for a whore night. You know sample women for his thirst." Mylar said. She walked to the door taking a glance at me with a crafty smile on her face. She walked away with her high heels clinking on the floor.

I didn't understand why she needed to tell me that Hunter was going to sleep around that night, but what even disturbed me more was why I was hurt knowing he was going to sleep around. The information took away a piece of me.

"Ania, did you get to your room safely?" Hunter was on my mind. I knew wolves could mind link each other, that was something that was our strength. It only made sense there and then that Hunter was not human too. How did I miss that since I came, he did a wonderful job masking his scent up anyway I ignored him as he kept calling my name. "Ania, Ania! f**k! answer me or I will come to see if you are safe for myself." He growled in my mind.

" Will you stop growling in my mind like that! I am safe now get out of my mind. " I snarled and closed the mind link. I could feel Hunter trying to open the mind link again but I strongly kept him out. I turned on my Bluetooth speaker and played a song to keep the mind link locked as I went about my chores before I settled down to do my homework.

I was through with everything when I laid on my bed in fuzziness as I slipped through to sleep my mind link opened and I heard Hunters soothing voice saying, " Goodnight my Luna." Before the link closed. Luna? Did I hear him right or was I dreaming already?

𝗛𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥'𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗩

I was standing at the school gate checking the authenticity of the students ID's as they trooped into the school for the freshers-welcoming and orientation party which had been highly publicised in the school circles.

"Alpha Hunter you seem so nervous, care to share?" Joe asked as he gave me a bottle of water. "No... I am not.... I am tired it has been a long week, a long day and it's gonna be a long night too." I answered pushing the uneasiness that was building up in me aside. My mate had not come and I wasn't sure if she was going to. Mylar had told me that she had spoken to her and emphasized about the need for her to socialize more. I also longed to see her, for the past few days she had been avoiding me reasons better known to her to a point of her blocking my mind links.

"Please check the ID's , make sure non-students don't breach the area. Nights like this usually attract all and sundry. I don't want to get into trouble with parents.'' I told the beta handing over the empty bottle back to him. I walked into a washroom and stood before a mirror removing my eye patch, I splashed water on my face. I was very very nervous desperately wanting to see Ania to calm down my nerves .

"Let us go and check on our mate." My wolf urged prompting me to push him behind my mind. "We will do no such thing, I don't want to come out as desperate, besides all eyes are on her since you can't keep calm around her. I don't want raising more eye brows than you already have. We are causing her unnecessary attention." I answered my wolf making it whimper inside my brain .

I splashed more water on my face and cut a paper towel patting my face dry. I gazed at my damaged eye remembering how a human dug into it with a folk, in an attempt to take away my life. It ended in a tussle which luckily I managed to escape. My eye healed internally but on the outer side it was marred and scared. I have to put on an eye patch not to scare or attract attention to it or being asked a lot of questions.

" HOWWWL..... HOWWWWWWL!" My wolf howled in excitement! that could only mean one thing, he had sniffed Ania's scent. I sighed leaving the washroom calmly though my wolf wanted to come forward to shift before going out to our mate.

"Ania!" I called her out when I got to the gate, she was looking heavenly in that winter flurry coat, again I had to restrain my wolf from crushing her into a hug as it continued howling in my mind. "MATE! MATE! MATE! "

"Easy puppy I told you we have to wait until she finds out that she is our mate, till then you have to calm down." I scoffed at my wolf as he howled in feral. After successfully ignoring it, calm was restored. I didn't say a single word to Ania, all I could do was watch as she walked into the swimming pool area alone hugging her coat tightly around her body.

When we made sure that they weren't other students outside, we locked the gates. Joe accompanied me into the swimming pool area, it was 'lit!' for lack of a better word. With disco lights flooding the area, the DJ mixing very nice music both urban and afrobeats. There was food and non-alcoholic beavarages lined up in one area, I couldn't help but smile as I saw students and teachers interacting with one another. The labelled mini-stalls we had erected helped learners to easily identify clubs with their captains, by all means, the night was going to be a success.

My wolf mewed inside of me. "What is it this time Jake?" I asked it .

"Our mate isn't enjoying the party, she is all alone and scared." Jake said.

I let it forward as we two stalked towards Ania who was leaning by a wall all by herself. "Thank you!" I told a random student as I took two cans of coke soda from her, she was about to be defiant but smiled when she observed it was me. I continued moving towards Ania and came from beside her before whispering.

"One for you and another one for me."

She lifted her big eyes to me and said," Thank you Alpha it wasn't necessary." She took the can nevertheless, I clawed my nails helping her to open the can, she smiled before my mind link opened saying,

"What happens if a human saw you do that? Removing your claws?" Ania said and I responded, "Well magic happens all the time."

Any person around us could never know that we were having a conversation, we were like two people standing close to one another without saying a word to each other, my face was radiating with euphoria, I was becoming overwhelmingly mushy. I felt like I could shift. Euphoria was triggering my wolf to a point of shifting.

" Please go mingle with others atleast for this one night then you can go back to your shell." I told Ania. I needed to get out of that place, I could shift anytime, Jake was completely taking over me, I knew he was so excited that only a run could calm him down.

"I gotta go Ania , please enjoy the rest of your evening." I said.

"Where are you going?" She asked me.

"To have a run also to check the borders." I honestly told her .

"Please Alpha can I come with you, there is nothing I am doing here, I didn't want to come here in the first place, Principal Mylar insisted." She stated.

"No,No,No!... You will only slow me down, secondly what do you think everyone will say if they see you disappear into the darkness with the games coach." She huffed before I even finished speaking. I really wanted to go for a run with her, I longed for her company so badly but another part of me didn't want to, Jake was already almost out of control, he wanted to go wild. He would let her know she was our mate . That was not according to my plan.

Ania didn't say anything though I saw the disappointment in her eyes. I walked to the back of the building, my bones cracking and aligning. "Easy boy, we have to get somewhere private before we get out of this clothes." My wolf didn't hear me. The moment I stepped into the bush, he was already ripping out of my skin, tearing my clothes in the process and he leapt forward lunging into the woods. I didn't say anything, I let him push us through the woods, Jake was strong and very fast.

In the wolves pack the moment you kill an Alpha you automatically become an Alpha, I could feel Alpha genes in me taking over as I was the one who took out the Mooncrest Alpha's life. Damn! I was faster, stronger and more aggressive than anything I had ever felt.

We continued running through the woods the cold air, didn't do much against my thick furs . Jake let out a loud howl, after howl, he was so excited that night, I ran along water brooks, streams jumping inside pools of water before we continued sprinting, the woods were magical, with fireflies running along with me, I could get the scents of other wild animals, all running after or away from something. Others roaring, while others howling. The winds whistling against the trees it was all very beautiful.

The dark had its own magical ways making everything in it's path so intriguing, Jake wasn't getting tired, my wolf was a Lycan wolf too, we could run faster that anything else in the world pumped with Alpha genes my adrenaline was souring so high. I could feel myself letting loose, I let go of everything that I had as I plunged forward, my four limps hitting the ground, twigs slamming against my thick skin then I rammed into something . " Howwwwwl! " The silver fur wolf howled . Where did it come from?

I came to a stand still, what or who was that? Sniff, sniff it was definitely, a female not from our pack. Was I the one who went past our pack or this female had found a way into our borders? The wolf staggered at the impact before it collapsed on the ground. "Just how many more wolves are out there?" Jake asked me as he reached down to pick up the wolf.

We took a look at her, she was definitely new, how did she get there? What was she doing in the dark? Was she running from or after something? A tranquilizer dart hit a tree right next to me, distracting me from the the wolf. "Humans!" Jake growled . It made sense now, she was definitely running from humans, did they know that there were two of us or it was just her alone.

A second dart hit right into my left arm, if it was anything close to the tranquilizers that we used while hunting, I knew I had less than ten minutes before the drug kicked in sending me to slumber. I knew the humans wouldn't hesitate to take away our lives. Without thinking twice, I hauled the wolf on my back and started sprinting back to the pack house.

I couldn't tell how far away I was because I was not sure how far I had wandered off. "There!" I heard someone say as another dart was shot, I managed to dodge it before it hit me as I continued running back through the woods.

It was already past five minutes, I was not back on trail, the effect of the drug was heavily taking a toil on me. The rider on my back was getting heavier and heavier alerting me that my wolf was failing. "Jake please, don't let us down. Please find a familiar scent and draw us home. Remember our mate Ania, we just met her. We can't allow anything bad to happen to us." I tried charging my wolf. It worked.

With a new found strength, I felt him taking over again as my baggage felt lighter than feather. "It's time you tapped into your vampire mode, I can't go up the hill. My strength is failing me ." Jake said. That was when I noticed the hill before me. How far had we run off?

"I can't activate the vampire in me, Jake you know how uncontrollable it can get. You know how blood-thirsty it can get. If we unleash the vampire we will soon start hunting for blood from the very people we have sworn to protect." I tried reasoning with him.

"Hunter listen to me, I am exhausted it's either you unleash the vampire, or we die can't you hear the sound of the helicopter blades blaring they are unto us." My wolf had drastically slowed down, yes there were sounds of helicopter blades blaring in the air with lights flooding into the woods as they hunted us down.

Jake leaned on the bark of a tree as he lowered down the wolf we had ran into. At this point we were both feeling dizzy but there was no way, I was going to unleash the vampire in me. It would be bloody! I had managed to lock up my vampire in me years ago after it went savage almost massacring a whole village to quench it's blood thirst I was not for that anymore.

" Step back we change back into human." I told Jake. He shook his head furiously.

" You have decided to let us die either way. You shift back into a human, we both die because of the cold or when the troops get to us the will get you (a human) with no clothes, they definitely know you are a shifter you already know what will happen next. Or let's just wait here for them to come and take off our heads as we sleep." Jake said as he yawned he was a minute a way from sleeping.

I tried opening a mind link to Ania, she adamantly locked it, I guess she was already asleep, or she didn't want any disturbance. I tried Mylar and she was in a noisy place probably still at the party, she was a party animal we couldn't communicate. I had only one last hope, Joe. If he didn't come through, then I would be forced to unleash my vampire and deal with the consequences later on.

The mind link opened. He was speaking drowsily I knew he was already in bed and fast asleep. "Joe.... Joe.. I need your help." I started talking. " Alpha is everything okay?" I was happy that he sounded alert.

"No I am not... I have been shot by a tranquilizer that will put me out in a second or so." I said hearing my wolf already sleeping.

" Where are you? Alpha.... Alpha." He called out.

" I don't know where I am. Somewhere near the hills, but be careful there are hunters every where on the lookout, they also have a helicopter plus I have an injured unfamiliar wolf with me." I tried saying before I sunk into the land of darkness. Holding onto the female wolf so tightly for warmth and protection.
