Chapter 4

*Doris POV*

I closed my eyes and waited for the next thing that would happen to me, praying to the moon goddess to save me from whatever it was. I waited for a few minutes and nothing happened.

In my head, I spoke to Doe.

"Doe, what is happening?" I asked her. She could not tell either, as my eyes were her eyes and at that moment, I had closed my eyes. We both couldn't see.

"I'm gonna open my eyes and see whats going on" I told her.

I opened my eyes and looked to the figure in front of me. It was a huge black werewolf. It had closed its mouth and was now staring down at me with it's scary red eyes.

"Happy birthday Doris" it spoke..

I instantly got confused. "Wait what?" I asked. I saw the creature transform into our Alpha, Alpha Kent. It made more sense then.

I had never seen Alpha Kent in his wolf form although I heard about it. I heard he was big and scary and he had red eyes. Upfront and personal, the people who described him did not do justice to him. But he was also my crush so I would not speak bad about him.

I cleared my throat, "thank you. Thank you Alpha Kent. Can I ask why you were chasing me?"

"Well. I was patrolling the area and saw a white wolf enter into our space. I thought to check her out. I never knew it was you. This is my first time seeing you in your wolf form. You look beautiful. I'm sorry I startled you" he said as he put his hand on my shoulder and lightly tapped it. It felt good and I felt myself blushing.

"You know you have a boyfriend right?" Doe reminded me. "Yes, but this man is fucking hot. I'm allowed to crush on him, am I not?" I answered back.

I watched as he observed me. He smiled and offered to walk me through the woods, back home. He told me how the woods were dangerous and how I needed to keep safe.

As we walked, he told me of how he had like me before but he was scared to say anything because he considered me a child. I was just eighteen and he was soon approaching forty. I smiled, atleast he had respect and was not a bad person.

We were almost home when he congratulated me once again and told me to take care. I smiled, thanking him. Alpha Kent was a wonderful man and he was the sexist man alive. Everyone confirmed it.

I watched him as he turned his back to leave and I noticed his perfectly shaped butt. It was pointy and I wished I could grab it.

"Doris, stop filling my space with nasty thoughts." Doe said, I laughed out loud. My laughter caught his attention and he turned to say goodbye again.

I turned and started walking home. As I reached my front yard, I saw my neighbors. Everyone kept wishing me a happy birthday and I kept smiling and saying thanking them. It was not an easy task since I was already tired from my run but finally, I made it to my door and then, I got inside.

Everywhere was decorated with balloons and shimmer. I saw them and was happy. I smelt something cooking in the kitchen. I also smelt something baking. My mom was makimg my favorite cookies. I jumped for joy.

"Your mom really loves you" Doe said. I smiled as I replied 'yes she does', everything was set, except my mother herself.

I called out for my mother.

"Mom?!!"

"Mommy!!" But no one answered.

"Mommy. Where are you?" I called again and this time she answered.

"Yes, Doris" she called out loud. "I could not hear you when you called me out. I am in my room"

"I'm coming up" I called out from downstairs. I started climbing up the stair case when I heard the someone else talking to her.

"Doe, do you sense another presence?" I asked my inner voice.

"Yes I do. He seems familair" she answered back. I wondered who it was, that was so familiar that he had to come to our house at that time and not only that, my mother was so comfortable taking her to her room. I shrugged.

As I got upstairs, I opened her door and to my surprise, it was my father. My biological father, the one who left us because he wanted a new mate.

I turned to my mom, "what is he doing here?"

"Doris, take it easy!" She commanded me. I wanted to calm down, but not today, not on my birthday. I got angry the more.

"What are you doing here?" I turned to ask my father, Jeffrey.

"Look,I am sorry I left you guys before. The things I did were terrible but I am here now" he said to me as he approached me calmly.

"For the last fucking time! What the actual fuck are you doing here?!!!" I cursed this time, my mom turned to me, eyes wide and surprised at what I had just said. I didn't care. I am eighteen now.

My father stepped right in front of me.

"I am here to take you home"

"What the fuck?" I turned to my mother to see her reaction. She said nothing and did nothing. After a few seconds, I watched as she spoke.

"Doris, I think you should go with you father"

I stood there looking at my mother with a mixture of confusion and defiance. She had just asked me to go home with my father, but something inside me was telling me not to. I knew that her visions usually meant something, and that she had a special connection to the world around her, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

I opened my mouth to protest, but my mother cut me off before I could even begin.

"Doris," she said softly, her eyes pleading with me. "Please go with your father. I have a feeling something awaits you at home."

I sighed and shook my head. I wanted to believe her, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I could feel an invisible force pushing me away from home, and I knew I had to listen to it.

"No," I said firmly. "I'm sorry, but I can't."

My mother looked disappointed, but she nodded in understanding. I could see the fear in her eyes, and I knew that whatever was waiting for me, it was something she wanted to protect me from.

I said goodbye to my mother and started to walk away, my mind filled with questions.
