Archer: Aulfric Ashworth

(Author here, I'm writing this while currently sick. So don't expect much right now. This chapter is the Revamped version of the previous one, with this, I have changed stuff to not mess with the legends of other characters. And when reading comments, I've come across a couple of people who have helped me write his story better. All I got to say is thank you for the help.)

Aulfric is an anomaly in the Arthurian Legends, there are multiple records about him. Some say he was a Knight who valued honor above all things, even the love he had for his fellow Knights. Others have written him as Knight who betrayed his King, being the one to strike down Arthur in the legends instead of Mordred. That is a common misconception in his legend, it is Mordred who struck down Arthur, not Aulfric. Many say that he was created by the Fae to observe Arthur, and help him to the best of his abilities. While these are just stories, some might be true. So let us get on and tell Aulfric's real legend.

Aulfric was said to be found by Merlin, who was curious about Aulfric existence. This is because Aulfric was overflowing with Fae energy, something that is not abundant in a human being. When Merlin tried to find the reason why Aulfric was overflowing with Fae energy. He felt his mind and body temporarily be transported somewhere, it was then that he heard a booming voice echo from far away.

"What are you doing here Incubus, you are not allowed to be here. The only one that is allowed to be here, is the owner of this mind" The voice semi-threatened Merlin, but it was also curious. Since an ordinary Incubus wouldn't be able to reach into this mindscape, it is protected by the Fae and the being that is currently talking.

"I was just checking why this 'Human' was filled with so much Fae energy. With this conversation, I am now able to confirm that he is anything other than Human." Merlin responded to the voice, a bit terrified since this voice just completely ignored the barriers that he had set to protect his mind from any intrusions.

"Hhm, I am now able to see how you were able to enter this mindscape, you have been in contact with that Fae who is this so-called Lady of The Lake." The voice said back to Merlin, who was now curious instead of being afraid of this voice. He wanted to know who was the one that can completely discard the Famous Lady of The Lake.

"Who are you to discard the Famous Lady of The lake, for all I know you could be a low-class spirit." Merlin said to the voice, testing the waters to see if he could get any information about this being. The voice was now amused with Merlin, someone who had the gall to insult the one who allowed his existence to continue on their physical body.

"My name that is known to everyone who lives in this world is ----." Merlin was now absolutely terrified of the voice, the one who he had just called a low-class spirit. Can completely wipe out his existence with just a thought.

"I will allow that comment you made to pass, I will now kick you out of the boy's mind. Just remember, if you try anything again. I will wipe you out of existence and replace you with a clone of yourself that is under my control." Before Merlin could respond to the voice, he was quickly kicked out and shoved back into his body. He looked down at the kid that was sleeping and decided that maybe just maybe Artoria needed someone to help her on her journey.

This is where the boy, who was now given the name Aulfric Ashworth tale started. Merlin was quick to introduce Aulfric to Artoria who was happy to now have a friend other than Kay. Aulfric was told that when around people that did not know that Artoria is female, he should call her Arthur and identify her as male. Aulfric was confused about why he had to do that, but in the end, didn't care. So time went by, as Aulfric was taught by Kay alongside Artoria the Art of using a sword. It was during those sessions that Aulfric was terrible at using a sword, but give him a bow and he could use it like he was born a master at it. Everything went by as normal until Aulfric and Artoria heard about a sword that was stuck in stone, it was said that the one who pulled that sword from the stone would be the rightful king of Britain.

"Are you sure this is a good idea, you do know that we should be training right now. If Kay learns that we missed out on training he would be furious. and you know that a furious Kay means harder training." Aulfric said to Artoria as they walked to where the so-called sword in the stone is said to be located.

"Don't worry, you know that Kay wouldn't be mad at us if we skipped training to see this. And even if he was there, he would come along with us. You know he is as interested in the sword in the stone as us. So as I said before don't worry, and if he is mad at us I will take the blame." All Aulfric could do was sigh at Artoria's sentence, well it didn't matter anyway as they made it to the clearing. As they walked into the clearing, a group of men was seen taking turns trying to lift the sword out of the stone.

"Come on you bunch of little pansies, all it is a sword stuck in some stone. All it should take is some actual strength from a man instead of some pansies to lift it out." One of the men said to his friends as he moved up to the sword. Holding the sword's handle, at first it looked like he was lifting it. Until moments later his face started to gain a red shine to it, he stayed like this for a couple of moments until his grip failed him and he fall backwards onto his butt.

All of his friends started laughing until one of them saw Aulfric and Artoria.

"Look at these young boys, are ya here to try to test your strength by pulling this sword out of the stone." The man said to Aulfric and Artoria, Aulfric was quick to respond to the man but was cut off by Artoria.

"Umu, yes we are here to try to test our strength by trying to pull the sword from the stone." Aulfric looked at Artoria like she betrayed him, she then looked at Aulfric with a small smirk on her face.

"Well alright then, so who is first." Aulfric who wanted to originally just go stepped forward. He was driven by curiosity at why the sword was here in the first place. Artoria looked at Aulfirc with a smirk on her face, she knew that he wanted to try to pull out the sword. So that's why she said to the man that they want to try to pull the sword from the stone since Aulfric would be driven by his curiosity to do it eventually, all she did was just give him a little push.

Aulfric slowly walked up to the stone, nervous at what would happen if he managed to pull the sword out. At first, nothing happened, it was until he grabbed hold of the handle of the sword did something happened. His eyes glazed over and a voice spoke out to him through his mind.

"𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯, 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨. While this voice whispered this into his mind, he didn't register that the sword was slowly being pulled out. Aulfric was quick to let go of the sword, which slowly went back to its previous position. While the men didn't see anything, Artoria noticed what happened. Aulfric was quick to move back to where Artoria's standing.

"It looks like I am too weak to pull it out, while don't you give it a go Arthur," Aulfric said to Artoria who narrowed her eyes at him, not believing Aulfric at all. She didn't dwell on it any longer and moved to grip the handle of the sword, the same thing which happened to Aulfric also happened to her. Her eyes glazed over, and here is where the difference between the two showed. Where Aulfric let go of the sword, not believing what it said to be true. He believed that a king needed emotions to be able to understand what his people need.

Artoria thought differently from Aulfric, so it was no surprise when the sword slid out of the stone like it was in butter instead of a rock. A golden light shined out from the sword, making everyone in the clearing close their eyes. A voice sounded out from the one who pulled the sword from the stone.

"I am Arthur Pendragon, son of Uther Pendragon. And I am the True King of Britain." At first, the group of men was shocked at what Artoria said. Then they grew furious, saying that Artoria was lying and that she cheated when pulling the sword out of the stone. It was until a voice spoke out from the entrance of the clearing. revealing that two people were watching the whole time, the ones who revealed themselves were Kay and Merlin. Merlin was quick to help Artoria.

"Maa, Maa. Don't be angry at the boy because you were weak to pull the sword from the stone. Are you not a so-called man." At first, the group of men was angry at Merlin. It was until one of them recognized Merlin.

"Aren't you that wizard that was seen talking to Uther multiple times, so if you are here?. Then that means this boy is the legitimate son of Uther since a Wizard who was close to Uther wouldn't save just any normal boy." The man was quick to recognize that Artoria was Uther's son, he was quick to kneel with the rest of the men.

"All hail King Arthur, son of Uther Pendragon." Multiple voices rang out in the clearing. Realizing behind Kay and Merlin were Knights who were sent to identify what the big commotion was about with the sword in the stone. Merlin and Kay were quick to pull Aulfric and Artoria away from the clearing. While on the way back to where they resided, Kay was quick to start a conversation with Aulfric and Artoria.

"So today was eventful wasn't it, I didn't think that when you two ditched training one of you would become the King of Britain." Aulfric was nervous about that sentence, while kay sounded like he was supporting him and Artoria. His expression said otherwise, it showed annoyance and anger.

"It was me that suggested that we go to the clearing Kay, Aulfric was just dragged along by me" Artoria was quick to take the blame for Aulfric.

"While I would believe this, I won't since I and Merlin were following you two from the start. So next training session, everything is to be tripled." Aulfric and Artoria paled, their normal training session was already hard, It being tripled was a death sentence in itself. After arriving back where they resided, they were quick to go to sleep. They wanted to put today's events behind them.

In the morning a loud knock awoke Aulfric, Artoria, and kay. Artoria was the one to open the door, it was there that the group of Knights were quick to kneel when they saw Artoria.

"All hail King Arthur, son of Uther Pendragon." Artoria was surprised at their sudden kneel.

"Uhm, rise. What are you Knights doing here." One of the Knights stepped forward, rising from his kneel to address Artoria.

"My King, you are required at Castle Camelot for your crowning ceremony, from them you are required to live in Castle Camelot. We can not have our king living in filth."

It was from there that Artoria, Aulfric, Kay, and Merlin were led to Castle Camelot. Artoria's crowning ceremony went smoothly, nothing bad happened during it. Weeks after Artoria invited Kay and Aulfric to join the new group she established, the so-called Knights of The Round Table. From there they would meet Sir Tristan, who would also join the Knights of the Round Table. Many battles later they would also get another member, who after arriving during a battle and impressing the stoic King Arthur. Was invited into Camelot as a quest, and then grew interested in joining the group. The one to join them was named Lancelot, and it was then that we learned he was raised by the Lady of The Lake. after that everything was fine until during a battle Caliburn was broken.

"WATCH OUT!." Lancelot was quick to lean to the side, letting an arrow fly by and hit the barbarian that he was attacking.

"Thanks for that Aul, the bastard was being cheeky with those axes. Almost got me a couple of times." Aulfric popped a thumbs up, after that they both chatted for a bit while Aulfric sniped Barbarians that were approaching.

"This feels too weird, in multiple battles before this they weren't as nearly as coordinated. It feels like someone else is controlling the-" Before Aulfric could finish his sentence, a loud boom was heard in the distance. Lancelot and Aulfric looked over and saw Artoria get sent flying away from a Barbarian, to the shock of them both, Artoria was only holding the handle of Caliburn in her hands. Lancelot and Aulfric were quick to help Artoria, while Lancelot was bearing the brunt of the attacks. Aulfric was providing cover fire, killing anyone that got close to Lancelot. When they arrived at Artoria, they saw Tristan and Kay trying their hardest to protect her.

Aulfric was quick to bring the king up, while Lancelot moved up to help Tristan and Kay. Aulfric was able to get Artoria away safely and was able to help pick off the rest of the Barbarians with his bow. After killing the reaming Barbarians, the rest of the Knights of the Round table were quick to go see if the king is alright. While they were doing that Aulfric walked over to where the pieces of Caliburn lay, slowly picking them up and wrapping them in cloth. While he was doing that he also got a look at the ax that broke Caliburn, and he noticed something off with it. Picking it up and looking at it, he was able to find runes engraved into it. While those were something to look at, it was the energy around the ax that caught his eye. It felt like fey energy but tainted, Aulfric decided to keep the ax and see if Merlin would be able to find something about it.

When they arrived back at Camelot, Artoria was quick to move to her chambers. She felt shame that she allowed Caliburn to break, while she was lamenting about what happened to Caliburn. Merlin was quick to come by and tell her that he may have a solution to her problem. He asked her to come along with him to see the Lady of The Lake whose name is Vivianne wanted to give something to Artoria. Artoria happy at the fact she might get something to replace Caliburn assembled a group of people she trusted the most to follow her, those being Aulfric, Lancelot, Merlin, and Tristan.

It didn't take long for them to arrive at where the Lady of The Lake was. It was there that Artoria was given Excalibur and Avalon and to Aulfric and Merlin shock. Aulfric was given a lance called Rhongomnyiad. Aulfric was shocked to be given such a gift but was also a bit weirded out with the gift since he was not efficient with a lance at all, Aulfric was then informed by Vivianne that he can transform it from between a bow and a lance. And if he wanted to with a thought he could form a mini Rhongomnyaid and fire them from Rhongomnyaid when it is in bow form.

After they returned to Camelot from their visit to Vivianne, Aulfric asked Artoria if he was allowed to go search for someone to teach him how to use a lance. Artoria was not surprised by Aulfric question, since they were young if something intrigued him. If it was something to do with a weapon other than a sword, Aulfric would spend whatever time it took to learn how to master it. Other than a lance or sword, he could be considered almost a jack of all trades.

After getting permission from Artoria, Aulfric headed out to search for someone to learn how to use a lance from. It took him two months to find someone to learn it from, the person who caught his interest was a traveler from China. Their name is He Tengyi, he has been in Britain for about 30 years now. It took Aulfric a year to get to an advanced stage with a spear, not being close to master level since he has not had any real battle experience with a lance. Aulfric thanked his master and then did a journey back to Camelot.

When Aulfric arrived back in Camelot, he was greeted cheerfully by his fellow Knights. It was when Aulfric presented himself to his King, that he noticed something different about her. It looked like she was a robot instead of a human, but when Aulfric came into view she brightened up a bit. It was there that Aulfric noticed someone was next to Artoria, he introduced himself to the lady.

"Hello there my lady, I don't think that we have met before. Aulfric Ashworth at your service." While saying this Aulfric bowed toward the lady. While bowing, Aulfric didn't notice the lady's eyes slightly glaze in his presence. When he looked back up her expression was back to normal.

"Hello Aulfric, my name is Morgan le Fay. I am Arthur's sister." Aulfric was shocked, Uther Pendragon had another child other than Artoria. He quickly kneeled to her.

"My lady, I am sorry for addressing you normally. If you need anything-" Before Aulfric could finish his sentence, he was suddenly pulled upwards from his kneeling position into a noogie.

"Why didn't you send a Knight to tell me you were back Aul, we are brothers are we not." When Aulfric looked up at the one who pulled him into a noogie, all he could do was sigh. Of course, it would be Lancelot.

"Will you let me go you, Buffon, you are messing up my hair." Aulfric was quick to get out of the noogie. He then fixed his hair, while this happened. Artoria silently giggled, while Morgan was still staring at Aulfric.

"Well excuse us my king, my lady. Lancelot and I are going to go see the other Knights. He is going to introduce me to our new additions to the Round Table. Come on let us go Lancelot." Aulfric grabbed Lancelot and started walking away from his king, and her sister. While this is going on, Aulfric could swear someone is burning a hole in his head.

Aulfric got to know the additions of the knights, Bedivere, Percival, Gaheris, Gareth, Palamedes, Gawain, Galahad, Agravain. and Mordred. Aulfric was surprised at the fact that Gawain, Agravain, Gaheris, and Gareth are Morgan's children. For a lady that has 4 children, she still looks beautiful and young. He became a friend of most of them, especially Mordred. Who looked up to Aulfric as an idol. Aulfric got to know that his King was married to a Queen, Lady Guinevere.

Everything was normal until a battle where Tristan was poisoned. After that everything started to fall apart, and Tristan left the Knights of The Round Table. His final words before he left, was "The king does not understand the hearts of men." Aulfric understood what Tristan meant by this, he has seen Knights that have been loyal to the king since the start of her reign look at her with disdain.

It was in the middle of the night that Morgan visited Aulfric, in the celebration before Aulfric headed to bed. Morgan drugged his drink several times during the celebration, and Aulfric never knew. He accepted a drink from her multiple times, this is only because she is royalty. And his reputation would be ruined if he declined, so in the middle of the night. Morgan did a hideous deed with Aulfric without his consent, she said one last thing before she left after what she did to Aulfric.

"Soon love you would be mine after Agravain exposes Lancelot for making love to the Queen. A civil war would happen and from that a rebellion. Once my sister is removed from the throne. I would be queen, and you would be my King. For only I can have you, and only you can have me. From the first time I meet you, you showed me light in my miserable world. It was always the king that and king this, but with you, you didn't care. You didn't treat me just as the King's sister, but you treated me as Morgan, a girl who fell in love with you." During her speech to a drugged Aulfric, her eyes slowly became crazier and crazier.

Not soon after this, Agravain exposed Lancelot for what he did with the queen. And so with this, the people called for the queen's execution. Lancelot attempted to save the queen, in his attempt to save her. He killed Gareth and Gaheris, in the process. With this, the Knights lost more trust they had in their king. It was until after the Rome expedition that the rebellion came into play. Mordred had rebelled against the King with several Knights. The rebellion lasted until the battle of Camlann.

This is where the separation of different stories of Aulfric began. One is where he takes the attack from Mordred, making Artoria strike her down in her rage. With this, Aulfric becomes one with Rhongomnyiad and then gives it to Artoria. This is where Lion King Artoria comes from, and then from Lion King Artoria comes Goddess Rhongomnyiad.

But the main story is where Aulfric arrives late to the battle, witnessing Mordred die. All Aulfric could do was cry while holding Artoria in his arms. This is where his berserker legend comes into play. Aulfric slaughtered any knight that was part of the rebellion, sparing none. It was from there that Aulfric went on a spiral of madness. Killing anyone that was a part of it, civilians and many knights. His legend became tainted with the blood of innocents.

Hello, Teaka here. This is the revamped story of Aulfric. 4.2K words total. I hope this is an improvement over the other one. Also here is more context for his story, during many of the time skips behind scenes. Aulfric was getting very close with Morgan, this is why during her speech to him. She states that he treated just as Morgan, not just the King's sister.
