28 Chapter 28. Primal Roar

-Karna-

"Brahmastra Kundala!"

"Holy shit!" Achilles shouted as he grabbed onto his chariot as it flew by. A devastating explosion destroyed the surrounding landscape as fire tore through everything.

Rocks were incinerated, trees burned to ash as the power of the sun flooded the area.

Achilles had left, hoping to not get caught in the explosion his comrade released.

"Could have given me a warning!" He shouted. "We might be on the same side, but friendly fire is still a thing you know!"

Karnas eyes were wide open as he stared into the center of his attack, not believing what he was seeing. The Juggernaut was kneeling, but after a moment stood and looked right at him. Suddenly the knight began to sprint at him, emerging from the flames like some white hot demon from hell.

Reacting quickly, Karna summoned multiple spears of energy floating high above the ground, before sending them straight at the knight.

The spears hit their target, creating another massive explosion that shook the ground for miles. The knight emerged from this as well, undeterred from his goal.

Karna summoned his spear and prepared to take the knight on in close combat.

Godrick used the tip of his halberd to ram into karna, who caught the stab with his spear but was blown back a ways. Godrick turned the thrust into a downward slash as he leapt high into the air before bringing his halberd back down onto where Karna was.

The Lancer understood he couldn't compete with the Juggernaut in terms of strength, so he sidestepped the attack at the last second. Godricks halberd buried itself deep into the ground, shattering the earth around them for thousands of feet.

The shockwave blew Karna away for the second time, but he was able to reorient himself in midair. He landed a ways away before adopting another stance. Achilles now landed next to him in his chariot, also adopting a battle stance inside.

Godrick stood in the devastation of his attack, now waiting for them to approach him.

"Alright, let's get this guy!" Achilles shouted as the world around him began to slow. His chariot pierced the sound barrier in an instant, bringing him right next to Godrick who seemed not to move. White Lightning covered the Juggernauts body as he began to react, but it was too late.

Achilles buried his spear into the knight's right shoulder between the armor plates. The resistance almost pushed the spear from Achilles hand, but he kept a firm grip on his weapon, allowing him to break through Godrick iron like skin.

Godrick was thrown back from the force, knocking his halberd from his hands and sending him straight back into the lava-like area that surrounded them due to Karnas Noble Phantasms.

Karna reacted next, leaping towards the knight. He reached out with his spear, only for it to glance off the back of Godricks left hand, before his right delivered a punch to Karnas open chest.

White lightning covered Godricks body once more as he stepped to his right and twisted his body, swinging out blindly with his left fist, only to knock Achilles from his chariot moving at the speed of sound.

A shockwave blew the ground apart again, before Godrick leaded back, dodging a spear thrust from Karna before bringing his left elbow back into the servant's face. Godrick then turned back towards Karna as he held out his right hand behind him, letting Achilles' spear carve a deep gash into his helmet as he caught the servant.

He then brought Achilles up and over his head before slamming him into Karna, throwing them away with the force.

The two reacted once then landed and lunged at the Knight, breaking off from each other. Karna went to the right, while Achilles went to the left, applying pressure from two sides. The two spears turned into blurs as they struck out at Godrick.

Godrick did what he could to dodge and block but was clearly outmatched in skill. Several times he was cut and hit by the thrusts of his assailants. He swapped places with his halberd to give himself a small reprieve from the battle, only to be besieged again.

Throwing caution to the wind, white Lightning covered his body before he suddenly lunged forward. His actions surprised Karna and Achilles, but it was too late.

Godricks left arm closeslined Karna, while his right caught Achilles. He performed the same move Spartacus had used on him, leaping high into the sky before slamming Achilles into the ground back first. Due to his immortality, Achilles wasn't hurt by any of Godricks attacks for long. He would almost immediately heal from anything that Godrick did to him.

Frustrated, the knight proceeded to hit Achilles with a flurry of blows that increased in strength, shattering the ground and the mountain side his jump had taken them to.

He soon stepped back while stomping on Achilles' chest to keep him pinned. Achilles' eyes looked to the left of Godricks head for a Splint instant, telling Godrick everything he needed to know.

He leaned backwards, letting Karnas spear pass next to his right cheek. He reached out and caught the spear before it hit the ground and twisted his body, letting him throw it back at the servant with all his might. The spear seemed to have a mind of its own as it slowed to let Karna catch it, who retaliated by sending another explosive attack at him.

"Son of a Bi-" Achilles' words were cut off as Godrick grabbed him by his leg and threw him at the attack headed their way.

"Iiiiiiiiiitch!" was all that was heard as the energy detonated in the sky. Godrick leapt straight Into the residual fire, catching Karna off guard as the knight grappled him into a bear hug before they started to descend to the ground.

They hit the ground, destroying the landscape for hundreds of feet. Karnas eyes turned a deep blood red before energy was shot out of them, hitting Godrick squarely in the face, sending him into the sky before hitting the ground again. The two got up and engaged once more, lunging at each other. Karna was much more skilled in combat then Godrick, but what the knight lacked in skill, he more than made up for in sheer strength and endurance.

Using his fiery sight once more, Karna shot it directly into Godrick's left eye, making the Knight rear back.

Godrick pivoted on his right foot as he recoiled from the attack. Using the momentum to spin he brought his right fist back around to hit Karna.

A loud 'CRACK' echoed out as Karna was thrown into the ground. Godrick stepped forward and kicked the downed servant in the stomach, sending him away.

He then walked from the lava-like ground as he made his way to higher ground where Achilles and Karna were getting to their feet.

Achilles had landed among the shattered ruins of rocks and trees when Godrick threw him and waited for Karna as a type of punishment for what he did. Karna had divinity, so Achilles had felt all his attacks and were damaged by them.

"This isn't working, we need to go all out." Achilles said as he stood up. He held a hand out to Karna, who took it and was pulled to his feet.

"I'll give you an opening where he will be completely immobilized. Use that moment." Achilles said as he jumped backwards into his chariot before It took off and disappeared into the sky.

Karna looked at his opponent as he readied himself. He slowly floated into the air as his golden armor started to melt away.

"I do not wish to use this at this moment, but I am left with no other choice. You are an obstacle to my master's path, one he has tasked us with removing. I must carry out his orders." He said as the gem on his chest started to glow crimson. His eyes seemed to turn into oceans of fire, as his golden armor turned to blood red flames. He was now wearing nothing but his black skin tight suit as he held his hand to the sky.

What looked like a flaming eye appeared in the sky above him, seeming to stare at the knight before a spear formed in his hand. The heat and sheer might of the spear melted the rocks around them for miles, leaving Godrick standing in magma one more.

A glint of green light came from above Godricks head, which caught his attention. As he looked up, he saw Achilles' chariot rocketing towards him from high above.

He didn't hear any words from the servant, but knew a Noble Phantasm had been used when a giant green world formed in the sky, descending to the ground where Godrick stood.

He had a split moment to prepare himself, as the giant planet-like orb landed on him. He reached up with both hands and caught it before being forced to one knee. it felt as if he were holding the weight of a plant as Achilles forced it onto him harder. He grit his teeth, as he used energy to boost his strength to EX and his Endurance to whatever lay beyond EX. He felt himself grow stronger as the burden on his back became more manageable. He pressed upwards with all his might, starting to push the planet like orb back and was able to get to both feet with a fierce struggle before he heard Karna start to speak one more.

"Thou Shalt soon know the mercy of the Gods!"

Godrick looked to Karna who stood a ways away from him, pointing his black spear towards him.

"This thrust shall be one of destruction! Incinerate him, VASAVI SHAKTI!"

Godricks vision was blinded as pain enveloped his entire body. He let out a silent roar of defiance as he pressed upwards on the planet as the heat of the sun embraced him, and everything turned to white.

He could feel himself beginning to be burned away, and soon.

He felt no more.

-Jeanne-

Jeanne had landed among the city along with Mordred. The two had waited for Godrick, but soon decided to get to work and let him catch up.

They had traveled the whole city in search of Assassin of black. The pair had found her, then proceeded to deal with her.

Golden light flooded the area as Jeanne purified the souls that made the legend of Jack the Ripper.

A tear fell from her eye as she saw the last moments of the souls of the children. Some begged and pleaded with her to stop, while others begged and pleaded with her to save them. To set them free. To free them from their torment. She couldn't just let them suffer, so she did the only thing she could think to do. Pray.

With the prayer said, golden light flooded the streets as the souls of the children were made pure once more. Cries of desperation turned into hymns of thanks, given to the one that set their souls free.

Soon the light faded and Jeanne stood in her armor with no one but Mordred and Atalanta to witness what happened.

"How could you?" Atalanta said in a quiet voice. She looked up at Jeanne, tears of anguish rolling down her cheeks.

"You monster. You killed them. You took them away. They could have been saved, found people who loved them!"

"They already have been saved. And the one who made it possible loves them deeply. More than you or I can understand. They're in his embrace now." Jeanne replied, looking at her foe.

Atalanta said nothing as she raised her bow, unwilling to let Jeanne go unpunished.

"I'll kill you." She said, letting her arrow go. Jeanne used her spear to knock it from the air, while Mordred readied herself for combat.

"No." Jeanne said to her. "This is my fight. I need to to go see how Godrick is doing. He's fighting Karna and Achilles." She said.

Mordred hesitated for a moment before she nodded and leapt away.

"Come Archer. Let us settle this."

"I'LL KILL YOU!"

Jeanne dodged more arrows that came her way while knocking a few from the air as she ran towards Atalanta.

The Archer backed away while firing more arrows, trying to keep the distance between the two of them. Jeanne quickly closed the distance and swung out with her spear.

Anticipating the attack, Atalanta had changed her direction, and ran towards Jeanne. She then slid under the spear, bow drawn as she released a shot point blank. It was one of her magical arrows, so when it hit, it threw Jeanne into the building behind her.

Jeanne emerged from the hole in a blur, delivering a strike to Atalanta's stomach. The strike sent her high into the sky, leaving her vulnerable.

Atalanta let out a scream as she fell back to the city, landing amongst the buildings that couldn't be seen.

Jeanne leapt into the air where Atalanta had fallen, spying her among the buildings. She landed and began to chase after the servant, but was unable to catch up with her. She jumped Once more and threw her spear, but Atalanta dodged at the last second. Her shoulder was grazed by the spear, but other then the holy burn it inflicted, she didnt care much as she continued to run.

Jeanne landed and pulled her spear from the wall where it had penetrated, and continued to give chase. Soon she saw Atalanta turn into an alleyway, but as she entered the same alley all she saw was blue particles.

She set the butt of her spear against the cold stone ground with a sigh of annoyance.

"Guess I'll make my way to Godrick. See how he's doing." She said.

Making her way out of the city she leapt from rooftop to rooftop, and soon she felt the familiar magical energies of Noble Phantasms being unleashed. She had made it to one of the mountains that surrounded the city, and looked at the devastation on the other side.

Lava covered the ground for miles, fire and ash filled the air as trees burned. She suddenly saw a huge green planet-like orb fill her vision before it was thrust at the ground. Following that she was blinded as the sun appeared right underneath the orb.

"that's not the sun, thats… oh no!" She shouted as she regained her vision and saw the devastating Noble Phantasm released as the night turned to day for a split moment.

-Godrick-

Pain.

Pain was all that greeted Godrick when he opened his eyes. He was laying face down on the ground after having been attacked by the two Noble Phantasms. He placed his hands next to him and lifted himself from the ground and got to one knee. Fire and Lava covered the ground for as far as his eyes could see.

He was breathing heavily from what had happened, and a portion of his armor had been destroyed. His helmet was gone, as well as his left gauntlet, leaving cuts and burns all over his bare skin. He could tell that that he should have been killed by the combine efforts of the attacks, but strangely, he was ok. He looked at his bare hand before clenching it.

He looked up to see Karna and Achilles a good way away from him. Achilles was still in his chariot, and Karna was standing next to him.

Godrick took inventory on himself, seeing what had happened to him. He was extremely hurt, but he could still fight.

He wiped blood from his nose and spat some from his mouth before he brushed the hair from his face.

He was now completely immune to Noble Phantasms under the rank of B tier and his Endurance Stat had permanently evolved into EX+. With this he gained a few new abilities. One was that he could no longer be killed in one strike. He would be extremely close to death, but he couldnt be one shot. He quickly used energy he had absorbed to begin to heal himself, as his adaptation kicked into effect.

Another ability was one which he used now.

Standing, he raised his head and gave a primal roar of anger and defiance, which could be heard for miles around. Achilles and Karna froze when they heard it, fear etched on their faces.

This new ability made Godrick immune to all attacks under the rank of A for a short time, while also gathering the attention of his enemies onto himself, while afflicting them with fear. They would then attack him out of instinct, allowing his allies to do what they wished.

Finished with his roar he looked back down to his two assailants and got into a fighting stance with a ferall grin, ready for round two.

(A/N: Godrick did not get his voice back, just an ability that let's him roar.)
