7 Taking Care Of Akeno

After meeting with God Shiva, Karna flew his Vimana to the Underworld to see the girl he saved before.

With the map of the underworld stuck in his mind, Karna directly flew to the Gremory territory and reached the palace where Sirzechs and Rias were.

The Gremory Clan had a territory that is about the same area as Honshu in Japan. A very rich territory with a developed industry. Located within the territory is the Gremory Palace, the home and main building of the Gremory Clan Head.

The layout of the palace's outside is a quadrangle with a courtyard in the middle. Outside at the entrance is a fountain with a circular flower bed surrounding it, with many gardens in the surrounding areas.

As he was about to land the Vimana, he was approached by several devils using bat wings to fly. From their costume, they seem to be guards of the palace.

"State your name and motive, intruder."

One of the guards asked Karna in a threatening voice.

"I'm Karna from the Hindu pantheon."

Karna replied only with his name, not bothering to explain why he was there.

A couple of guards heard of the Hindu pantheon getting a new god named Karna so they soon turned respectful, so as not to offend a big shot.

"Lord Karna, please land your plane. We will take you to the Lord Gremory."

The guard who was being rude before now said in a soft voice.

Karna nodded and landed the vimana in one of the gardens surrounding the palace before following the guard inside the palace.

One of the guards quickly went inside to inform Lord Gremory about Karna's visit.

The palace was magnificent, befitting of the family of one of the Satan.

The large gate to the palace and Karna entered the palace accompanied by the guard.

Inside the palace, he saw a handsome-looking, middle-aged, man with long crimson hair that was tied in a loose ponytail with a black hairband. He had bright blue eyes and short and red stubble.

With these looks matching with Sirzechs, Karna quickly concluded that he was the head of the Gremory family, Zeoticus Gremory.

"Welcome, Lord Karna. Rias had told us that you will be visiting us."

Zeoticus excitedly welcomed the Sun God.

"It's my pleasure to meet you, Lord Gremory."

Karna folded his hands to greet him.

"Please come inside. Why don't we have a cup of tea?"

Zeoticus said and led Karna inside the palace. Both the men sat on the couches while sharing some jokes.

Karna had got to know from Zeoticus that Sirzechs could rarely visit them because of hectic work from being a Satan of Domestic Affairs.

After some time, a busty woman with short, flaxen hair and violet appeared while holding a tray with two cups in her hands. She introduced herself as Zeoticus' wife, Venelana Gremory.

Venelana handed over the cups to Karna and her husband before sitting beside him.

"Lord Gremory, Lady Gremory, I had placed someone in the care of your daughter, Rias. I am here to take her back."

After some chit-chatting between the couple and Karna, he stated his motive.

"Ah Akeno, she's such a cute girl. I wish she could live with us more, Rias and she had become good friends in such a short amount of time."

Venelana pouted while Zeoticus called Rias to bring Akeno with her to the guest hall.

Hearing that Karna had come, Rias and Akeno quickly appeared to greet him.

Rias was as starry-eyed as she was before while looking at Karna. Venelana had to say that her daughter had been starstruck by this new god, can't blame her though.

Meanwhile, Akeno was eager to meet her savior which she couldn't because of fainting.

"I'm Akeno Himejima. Thank you for saving me earlier, the great Karna."

Akeno walked up to Karna and gave him a bow.

"There's no need for thanks, Akeno. It's my duty as a warrior to protect the weak."

Karna nodded in acknowledgment before replying.

"Welcome Lord Karna. Mom, dad, why didn't you call me earlier."

Rias fumed at her parents for not informing her just when Karna came here. Her parents just laughed it off, finding her behavior cute.

"Hello Rias, thank you for taking care of Akeno for me."

Karna said making her puff with pride.

"Lord Karna, Akeno here is the daughter of Fallen Angel's vice governor general, Baraqiel and he will be coming to take her back."

Lord Gremory interjected with a serious tone.

"That's good. You don't have to worry anymore, Akeno."

Karna said but later got confused as Akeno's face was devoid of any happiness and excitement.

"Father left me and my mother to die. I don't want to go with him."

Akeno screamed with teary eyes.

After further questioning, Karna got to know about Akeno's situation.

Akeno was a child of a human and a fallen angel and thus was not accepted by her clan. A year ago her mother, Shuri, was killed by her clan members while her father was not there to protect her. And since then she had lived in a fear of being killed.

"Akeno, then come with me till you are grown enough to face this world."

After hearing her story and considering his responsibility, Karna offered to take care of her. Akeno was teary-eyed, finally, she could live without a moment of fear. Instantly, with a nod, she accepted Karna's offer.

"Akeno, I'll make sure to visit you frequently."

Rias said with a smile. While she was happy for her new friend, it was a good opportunity for her to keep meeting Karna.

"Aww thanks, Rias."

Akeno replied with a smile while oblivious to her friend's ploy.

"But what about Baraqiel?"

Zeoticus said worriedly as it might strain the relationship between devils and fallen angels.

"Gremory clan had Akeno in their care only temporarily. They can approach me for her. This answer should satisfy the fallen angels."

Noticing his worry, Karna gave him a solution which Zeoticus agreed to.

"That will do, Lord Karna. Why not have lunch before you take leave?"

Zeoticus said and invited Karna for lunch.

"That will have to wait, Lord Gremory, as you might have a problem."

Karna's reply filled everyone's mind with confusion. None could understand his words till the voices of sirens filled the surroundings.

~Siiiiiii ~Siiiiiii ~Siiiiiiii

"Lord, our territory had been attacked. Suddenly, there are enemies all over the city."

One of the guards who got informed about the situation cried to Zeoticus.

"What? It was peaceful just a second ago..."

Zeoticus was aghast.

~Booooom

None including Zeoticus had time to think before the palace gate was destroyed by a blast. Some large iron pieces fell toward Rias and Akeno, who were protected by a defensive shield formed by Karna.

"Protect the lord and lady!"

Guards screamed as they ran towards the gate to intercept the person who had appeared.

This attack might be the cause of some large catastrophe befalling the world.
