God Of Fire

After waking up, Dorin noticed that he had taken Anya's form. When he moved his limbs everything felt strange, not having hands was hard to get used to. His head was surprisingly flexible, and he could feel his claws digging into the dirt whenever he moved. He was a similar height as before, but his wingspan was now easily 4 meters. He inspected his dark body for a quite a while before realizing that he was almost fully healed.

As the hours went by of him getting used to his new body, Dorin wondered what was happening on the other side of the mountain. The sun was close to setting so Morah and Anya didn't have much time left.

Dorin ate what was left of the meat that Anya had caught for them, the feeling of swallowing everything whole was interesting, but he figured that small bites were the way to go. He felt a similar way to when he had absorbed his ego as strength flooded his limbs.

Dorin decided that with his new form and newfound strength, he might actually be of some help. He had never flown before, but he was sure that it was vital to learn how if he wanted to be able to fight.

It took him a while of flapping his wings around wildly, but after thinking about his experience through Anya's point of view it didn't take long before he was flying above the tree line.

'The sun has already set, so something must have gone wrong.' Dorin felt like he and Anya would have an advantage in the darkness, but so would Lonn and his followers.

As Dorin flew over the mountain, he saw a circle of flaming staffs. In the middle was Morah, Kari, and Lonn. He saw a mass of dark feathers a few meters away and felt a sudden anger flow through him. The connection between him and Anya was still there, but there was no doubt that she was injured.

Dorin remembered the feeling of Anya's dives to grab prey, and began his descent towards Lonn's head.

With his vision, he could see that things were not going well for Morah. He dove as fast as he could, and the scream that accompanied Anya wailed around his ears as he prepared to let his claws loose.

Just as Kari walked away from Lonn towards Morah, Dorin felt his claws dig into flesh, and it took all of his strength to lift Lonn above the circle. His speed slowed to a crawl as he was only just able get him away from everyone else. He felt a pain from below and released Lonn, who tumbled into the ground.

Looking down he saw that parts of his right claw had been burned, one of its forward facing toes was singed to the bone. 'He's still alive.'

Dorin flew back into the sky and tried to locate him again. It didn't take long before he saw a bright light from his direction, and it quickly turned into a slug of fire a quarter the size of the mountain.

"DORIN." Dorin shivered as he heard a bloodcurdling scream from the god of flame that Lonn had become.

Balls of fire were launched towards him, and he had to use every ounce of brain power to dodge. He had almost no practice, but from what he could tell neither did Lonn.

Dorin mainly relied on his speed, and it worked for a while, until finally his right wing was hit. He had thought that he would lit ablaze, but the fire never caught on. Despite this discovery, his wing was still injured, and he couldn't use it for anything but gliding.

With every fireball that Lonn threw, he became smaller. By the time he had hit Dorin, the god of fire had shrunk to half its original size. 'I have an idea.

Dorin flew towards the boundary, as far away from the remaining forest as possible. Morah had told him that egos of fire need something to burn, and that if there wasn't, the user of that power would be used up instead.

As he flew, the energy he felt before lessened immensely. He looked to his side and his wing had healed, but that wasn't going to be enough to outpower Lonn's new form. Suddenly he felt a tremor go through his body, and he knew something was wrong.

Dorin flew closer to the ground as his body began to shrink. He had transformed back into his human body. Dorin tumbled into the ground, and felt a sharp stabbing pain in his torso where he had been clawed days prior. Despite the pain, he continued to run.

"WHERE ARE YOU, LITTLE BIRD."

Dorin found what was left of the river bank, and began digging his body in the slightly wet mud. The temperature was increasing to unbearable heights the closer Lonn got to him, so it was a nice respite.

With how bright he burned it looked as though sun was about to rise again the closer Lonn got. Dorin could only hope that he burnt out before the mud he was hiding in started to boil.

It looked as though the head of the monster was flopping around as it moved forward. The flames had changed color, from red to blue. A painful yell followed, as an explosion of fire covered everything in a ten meter radius of Lonn.

'Please let this be the end.' Dorin watched as the fire slowly rejoined together. It looked as if it had created a line between the two of them, leading Lonn straight towards him.

A hideous laughter boomed from Lonn, "THERE IS ALWAYS MORE TO BURN."

Dorin jumped out of the mud, and was assaulted by the heat before running away again. He looked back to watch for more fireballs, and he saw a bright blue ball of fire shooting right towards him.

Dorin felt a pulse from his left hand and caught it with a certain magnitism.

The fire went out immediately, leaving what could only be Lonn's ego.

"NO." The fire around Lonn turned bright white as parts of the blaze seemed to slough off of him.

Dorin watched as piece by piece, what was left of the blaze blew out in the mud. He could see what had forced Lonn into this state, as the giant's head was hanging on by mere strands of flesh.

"We did it Dorin. The two of us, sparks." Lonn's raspy voice was filled with pain. "Protect-" Lonn dropped to his knees, "Kari." Lonn stayed in that position for a moment before his body collapsed, turning into a pile of ash.
