The begining

The sisters traveled for what felt like hours, when Sylvia finally asked.

"Where are we really going, I mean it's not like mom and dad would expect us to be gone for three months?"

"Sylvia, do you really believe we would be out here if we were not supposed to go on our pilgrimage to? Mom is too protective to just let us wander the wilderness, and Dad would have allies tailing us, and I don't sense anyone in the shadows behind us." Ash replied with a bit of frustration in her voice. "Still we are in this together so if we watch out for one another we should be just fine."

"If you say so." Sylvia said with disinterest.

The two continued in silence for another hour or so, before they stopped and set up a campfire. Ash casts an alarm spell in a 25 meter radius of the campfire, while Sylvia takes her time setting up a small shelter for the two of them. The day, while late, was young Sylvia gathered berries and nuts from the surrounding area. Ash is taking the time to take stock and rassion out there supplies.

"We have about fifteen days of supplies, and if we eat just enough each day we can effectively double that."

"Look there are some nuts and berries!" There was a moment of pause between the sisters.

"Wait, only fifteen days of supplies!" Sylvia was almost screaming, she was shocked at how little there was.

"I did say if we eat only a little we could double our supply and with fruits, and nuts we may even be able to add to it and go longer. We also have 3 gold each." Ash said lying to her sister, there was actually 5 gold and 50 silver for each of them. Still Ash felt that she had to lie to Sylvia about the amount of money they had.

In their camp, the two girls slept relatively soundly unaware of the forest's reaction to them interloping. The trees seemed to have a sentiance about them in the night, something neither girl noticed or felt, the vines in the trees above them slowly slithered down. Suddenly with a jolt of fear, form a nightmare Ash shoots up, sweating from the horror in her dreams. Without a sound she exits the tent and drinks a little water, and as she does this she notices movement in the corner of her eye. She looks over to see a vine continuing to slowly move down the tree, then two other vines shoot out and get her from behind.
