First Night

"Let's do this!" Rin said as she stood before the summoning circle in her attic.

She had her hair in her signature twin tail. A short black skirt with knee high black socks together with her red sweater with a silver cross motif on it.

She held a book with one hand and clenched her other hand above the circle.

"Preparations, ready. Time, good. Wavelength, ideal. By performing the summoning at 2AM, when my mana is at its peak, I'll get Saber even without a catalyst. Just you watch!" She motivated herself and she braced herself for what was to come.

"Anfang.

Heed my words.

My will creates your body, and your sword creates my destiny.

If you heed the Grail's call and obey my will and reason, answer me!

I hereby swear… That I shall be all the good in the world.

That I shall defeat all evil in the world.

Thou Seventh Heaven, clad in the three great words of power,

Come forth from the circle of binding,

Guardian of the Scales!"

A bright light burst out of the summoning circle.

"Yes! I must've drawn the strongest card!" She yelled excitedly.

But her excitement didn't last long as the summoning circle suddenly exploded.

*Boom!*

"Ah!" She was thrown back from the force behind the explosion.

After she got out of her stupor because of the explosion, she turned her sight to the summoning circle but she only ended up seeing a hole same size as the circle.

"No way!" She exclaimed as she rand downstairs.

She tried opening the door but it was stuck because of the explosion. But of course a mere door couldn't hinder her.

With a reinforced kick, the door was thrown from it hinges.

When she finally entered the room, she saw the result of her summoning.

A man with a tanned skin and short white hair together with gray eyes was sitting cross legged on the rubble created from the explosion.

He had a black body armor with silver accents and a red cloth that covered his sleeves together with a separate acting as a skirt that flowed from his waist down.

"Well well, looks like I've been summoned by a peculiar master. Just my luck." The man said sarcastically.

"Gr!" Rin gnashed her teeth from the remark of the servant. But she didn't voice it out loud because there were more important things to talk about.

"What are you?" She asked finally.

"Hmm? That's the first thing you say to me? Heh a peculiar master indeed." The man replied while waving his hand.

Rin crossed her arms. "What I meant was, whoever you are, you are my servant, correct?" And said with a temper that was getting increasingly difficult to control.

"And am I to presume you are my master? You weren't present when I emerged from the summoning." The man replied with humor in his voice as if he was enjoying getting on her nerves.

"Don't tell me you were expecting your master to be sitting here to give you a warm welcome. Give me a break you are not a baby." She said as she almost lost her temper.

"Well, at least I wasn't expecting to be greeted by an explosion." The man said.

"Deep breaths Rin, deep breaths."

*Inhale*

*Exhale*

"…Alright. Just, please answer my questions okay?" Rin said with a bright smile on her face after calming herself down. "You really are my Servant, right? Just mine and mine alone, correct? Master-Servant relationships should be clearly laid out right off the bat."

"Of course. I completely agree with that opinion." The man said as he slowly got up from the rubble and Rin finally saw the full height of the servant.

It would be a lie if she said that his height didn't intimidate her.

"I am indeed your servant. Don't you feel that master-servant connection between us?" The man replied finally much to her relief.

Upon hearing his reminder, Rin closed her eyes as she felt for the connection between the man and her and as the genius magus as she is, she found it in no time. "Haah great." She heaved a sigh of relief. "With that out of the way, you are a Saber class servant right?" She asked with a tinge of hope in her voice.

But of course that hope was about to be shattered.

"Sorry to burst your bubble master, but I am an Archer." He said with a shrug of his shoulders.

"…yeah. I knew it was gonna be like that." Rin said as her shoulders drooped a little.

"But if that makes you feel better, I am quite proficient in close quarter combat as well master."

"Hearing that coming from an Archer doesn't make me feel any better." She said with low spirits.

"Well, I'm sorry to hear that master but when I win the war I will make you take back those words." The man said.

Rin lifted her head up and looked straight at the metallic gray eyes of her servant. "You meant when 'we' win the war right?"

"Hmm?" The man lifted an eyebrow at her question. "Ah of course. My victory is your victory after all." He said.

"It is 'our' victory." Rin said as she narrowed her eyes.

*sigh* the man sighed at her insistence. "Yes of course it is our victory. I don't get why you are making such a big deal out of it master…" Then he stopped as realization downed on him. "Oh… you were thinking of getting in the action alongside me."

"Of course, that's how it should be." Rin said matter of factly.

"Oh no no master you misunderstand. You will here, in your safe little abode and wait for me to win the war for you." He said without noticing the tick mark that appeared above Rin's head. "I expect nothing from you. Just supply me with mana which you are doing a good job at." Another tick mark appeared above Rin's head. "To be frank, you are a variable. And I don't like having variables when I fight. They make things a lot more complicated than necessary. That's why-" he was about to continue when he was forced to stop by Rin.

"Enough!!" Rin shouted furiously as she couldn't handle it any longer. "Ever since you appeared, all you did was mock me and deny me! I won't have that any longer!" She said as she held the arm with the command seals on it. "Anfang!"

"Wait, what?! You can't be serious!" The man shouted frustratedly.

"I am dead serious! I am the master not you! And you will obey me!" She said as one of the three command seals on her hand activated and forced the phenomena on the man.

A wave of power surged through the room. And silence descended.

*sigh* "I just can't believe you wasted a command seal on that."

Rin blushed in embarrassment. "…let- let's take this elsewhere."
