FATE AGAINST LOVE: HER DESTINY, HIS CURSE

Love is synonymous with holding on. You should never think of letting go for any reason but what if letting go becomes an option to prove how much you love someone? What if giving up becomes a sacrifice of love? Valerie Gonzalez finds herself caught in Fate's Web, as she fell in love with the same man, who in 4 different past lives, she had been in love with; a love that eventually led to her premature deaths. Daemon Vladamirovich wasn't just A MAN but a damned angel of the devil, a vampire who had hated humans until he met a soul; a soul he fell for and who became a curse he had to endure for centuries. What would happen to Valerie who falls hopelessly in love with a Vampire for the fifth time? Would she accept Fate's choice for her to be a curse to this Vampire? Would she flee or fight fate with her life? Can she dream of fighting the inevitable? EXCERPT "W-hat!?" Finding my voice again after a minute of silence, "That was another one of your weird jokes right?" A soft chuckle escaped my lips, my body's way of calming me. "I don't tell jokes." His face held no emotions and the words fell freely from his lips. "So how is it possible that we've met and fallen in love with each other four times in four hundred years?" I don't know if I was angry or hurt that he was using this nonsense to reject my feelings. If he was going to reject my heart, he should atleast have the decency of using a more cliche excuse and not this. "You believe in those superstitious nonsense about past life and reincarnation?" I wanted to scream but my voice betrayed me, as I heard the words come out in a quiet whisper. I was already fighting the tears that threatened to fall anytime soon. Why did I even fall for this annoying jerk in the first place. "They are superstitious... Yes, but they are not false." "So what you're saying in essence is that we've both been reborn five times now?" A string of tear which had let loose was immediately caught by my alert hand, as I stared into his eyes; eyes I couldn't even be angry at. "Not us, just you." "What about you then? How are you still existing after four hundred years plus?" "I still exist because I never died." "Who never dies in this life? And you don't even look like a four hundred years old grandpa." "That's because I'm Daemon Vladamirovich, a Vampire." The confidence and pride he exhudes saying these nonsense annoyed me more than the nonsenses themselves. "I don't believe you because I don't believe in Vampires or witches and the rest." I stood up from the bench and made to leave when his cold hand grabbed my wrist firmly but gently. "Would you like for me to prove it to you?" I heard his voice, a deep long sigh found its way out of my lungs, as I spared him another glance; he seemed too serious and confident about it all. "Prove what you're not? I'd like to see you..." The words got stuck in my throat as I saw two pairs of what should have been the incisors grow out, looking like razor sharp canines, my feet deciding, for my frozen brain, to take us away from whatever was in front of us.

CHAPTER 10

CHAPTER 10

VALERIE'S POV

The weekend dragged by really slowly, despite it being just 48 hours, as I eagerly looked forward to Monday.

I'm pretty sure you already have an idea about why I'm excitedly waiting for Monday, and yes, I said I'd never feel this way but I miss him; his angelic cold, but yet soothingly warm voice, a face he stole from a greek god of beauty, his unique hazel eyes, his breath taking smile and most importantly, how he calls my name, I miss it all.

And I'm not completely sure if I have fallen for him so soon, but I really needed to see him and talk to him properly this time around. Just maybe if i saw him again, I could get rid of the confusion in my heart.

The phone on the bed rang out loud breaking into my thoughts, as I angrily reached out to see who it was but it was a private number. If there's anything I hate more than being flirted with, it's being called with an unknown number. Being called generally is upsetting enough and I actually prefer text messages to a phone call, except under very important conditions.

Watching the number dance around on my screen, I decided to pick up.

"Hello, am I speaking with Valerie Gonzalez?" The voice at the other end asked. He sounded a bit familiar and my brain worked extra time in finding out why i felt so.

"Y-e-a-h." I replied slowly, as it was dangerous to give personal details on the phone especially if you are a daughter of a billionaire.

"It's Ramsey, Ramsey Delacour." He must have noticed my cold dead reply, as he spared no second before properly introducing myself.

"Oh!" Was it a sigh of relief or anger, I didn't know. But what I do know is the fact that a part of me was happy talking to him again. "How did you get my number?" My face annoying curved into a smile.

"A gold fish, they say, has no hiding place." His voice was cold, reminding me of Daemon.

Why am I comparing his voice to Daemon's? Get a grip on yourself Valerie Gonzalez.

"And who's this gold fish?" The smile on my face was growing wider by the second, as a soft chuckle escaped my lips.

"Well..." The conversation with Ramsey lingered on for an hour, talking about nothing in particular but it was somewhat soothing as thoughts of Daemon was already driving me crazy.

Ramsey seemed to be a really interesting person and what was more interesting was the fact that I think he likes me, which is impossible to comprehend.

But on a general level, I like his personality and he's actually really comfortable to talk with.

??????????????????????????????

The school bell gave its final warning to students still outside their respective classes as they hastened their steps towards their classroom. Those already in class continued to be noisy until the door creaked open, and Mrs Trish walked in with her hand bag and some files.

My eyes, however, remained fixed on the door, waiting and hoping he'd just walk through it.

"Going through your assignments, I must say some of you really impressed me while the others needs to do a better job at impressing me next time." Mrs Trish's voice echoed through the room as she distributed our already marked papers.

Where in the fuck was him?

###########################

Slowly the days dragged by, with still no signs of Daemon and I found myself helplessly worried over him. Nobody seem to know why he wasn't coming to school anymore.

Could he have changed schools?

At the end of the school day, I decided to ask the principal about him to confirm if truly he had changed schools, so I'd get over the hurt this weekend and be my old self by Monday.

"Good afternoon, Mr Moore." I greeted after letting me into the office.

"Good afternoon, Valerie. How are you doing?"

"I'm fine sir."

"Is there any problems?" He asked, looking up from the files in front of him.

"Not really. I just wanted to ask about the new kid, Daemon. He has not been in school this week and I wanted to know if he was alright."

"Well, I was told by his brother that he was a little sick and wouldn't be coming in for a while."

"How sick is he?" I asked, relieved that it wasn't a transfer out of the school or even state.

"That's just about all the information I was given regarding his absence."

"Sir, could you please give me an address or phone number so I can at least reach him and know how he's doing."

"A phone number...was not given and the only address here is that of his older brother, Seth."

"Can I have that?"

"It's personal information, Valerie. I'm afraid I can't let it out."

"He's a friend of mine and I'm worried. I have not asked for anything from you before, please."

He took a second to think, maybe about how angry my father would be if he heard he denied me of the mere address of a student.

"Okay. Here it is." He handed me a written address as I hurried out of the office.

****************************************

Ding Dong- The bell rang, followed by footsteps and the laughter of a man. This must definitely be the house.

Unconsciously, I adjusted my button down crop top on high waist mini skirt, and rough ponytail, as I smacked my lips against each other.

The door opened slowly, as a smile curved on my face, my eyes impatiently waiting to have a look at him after so many days.

"Valerie?" The voice of someone I wasn't expecting, in a thousand years, to be here asked. He couldn't even hide the surprised look on his face.

"Ramsey?" I choked on the word, as I had been deliberately avoiding him for some days. I didn't want a distraction from how worried I was of Daemon, and talking to him would only do that.

"What are you doing here?" The words seemed to take more efforts leaving his lips, as a forced smile appeared on his face.

"I should be asking you that question." I replied with a question of mine.

"This is my cousin's house." He stated bluntly.

"Co- cousin?" Is this a plot from a movie where one girl is tied between two brothers?

"Yeah, cousin. What are you doing here?" He sounded impatient, his red eyes seeming to radiate anger and fear.

Why would he be angry and afraid at my visiting his cousin?

"I came to see..."

"...who are you talking with for over five minutes? Are you giving up so..." The voice I had craved for all these days interrupted me, as I heard his footsteps coming towards the door, his fingers curl around the door, pulling it open and meeting my face; He looked shocked.

He looked much better than the last time I saw him, the dark circles already disappeared and his hazel eyes glittered.

"Daemon." I smiled widely at him. I was so happy that I could hug him but thankfully, I held myself back.

"Valerie." Oh! How I miss hearing my name being called like that. I felt my tummy explode with butterflies.

"What are you doing here?"

"You've not been in school for a while and I thought I should check up on you to see how you're recovering."

"Uhmmm I'm fine. Getting better by the day." He said after a forced cough, avoiding my gaze for some unexplainable reason.

"Meet my cousin..."

"We've already met, or haven't we?" Ramsey sounded a bit jealous and tried hiding it but I know better than anyone.

"Yes, we have." I nodded in agreement.

"Come in then." Ramsey said, stepping aside from the door with a smile.

"Yeah, forgive my manners please come in." Daemon also offered with a smile I couldn't get tired of seeing. Maybe I was hurting Ramsey with my laser focused gaze on Daemon, but I cared less about how he felt.

Realizing how uncomfortable it would be to step into the house with two of them, I decided to opt out of the awkward situation and save myself.

"It wouldn't be necessary. Like I said I just came to see how you were doing." The smile refused leaving as I heard my own heart pounding faster against my rib cage. Good thing he couldn't hear it because it would have been so embarrassing to tell him my feelings like that.

"Thank you for stopping by. I really appreciate." He said, his hazel eyes that glimmered some seconds ago became dull; He was sad. But why?

Didn't he want me to leave?

I found my feet taking me towards my car, as I headed back home with thoughts of Daemon to last me the whole night.
