Chapter 1: Soulmate Threads

In the peacefull town of Asakusa, where Tokyo's oldest temple is situated and the city offers the blend of the traditional and modern Japan together, a boy was absent mindedly walking.

He seems somewhat awkward and strange. He sometimes looks at the passerby couples. Sometimes he smiles at himself sometimes he becomes gloomy.

Well, the main reason was that he could see some threads which no one could see. He sometimes sees a thread connecting two people and sometimes he sees there's no thread coming out of the people. Strangely 99% of the times when he saw the threads he saw it connects a man and a woman.

The boy, a reserved and quiet soul, always found himself surrounded by the vibrant hues of these threads. Yet, despite the kaleidoscope of connections around him, he always tries to remain untouched by the very force that seemed to govern the 'fate of love' of those he observed.

As he was strolling through the town's park on a crisp autumn afternoon alone, the threads danced in the breeze, a constant reminder of his solitude. The beauty of love's manifestation eluded him, leaving him feeling like an outsider in a world where everyone was intricately linked.

The Boy's P.O.V.---------

"These threads have started to make me sick of it. I can literally see these people with threads with their soul mates. But where's mine? I have been in this world for god's sake, 18 years now. And there's no thread coming out of me," Said Ryusei in his mind with a depressed tone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The boy we are talking about is named Ryusei Kujikawa. He's a third year senior high school student. He can see a kind of thread coming out of people from a very young age and he named it the 'Soulmate Thread'.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

His discontent deepened when he overheard the heated exchange between a couple seated on a bench.

Ryusei can see the cracks in their soulmate thread were stark, revealing the strain of their argument. Ryusei couldn't escape the torment of witnessing the fragile nature of love. It was a reflection of his past, a past he desperately wished to forget.

Flashbacks of his childhood always haunted him – the day he saw his parents' soul threads shatter, leaving him helpless in the face of their crumbling connection.

They had a happy family, his parents loved him very much. His parents were not very wealthy but they were not poor either. But suddenly his father who worked alone for the family started to neglect them, he came home less, he spent less time with them. His mother became suspicious about his father. And they had an argument one day.

Ryusei was very scared that day. Because he saw the thread shutter in front of his eyes never to heal again. Ryusei's parents got separated and Ryusei's mother took responsibility for him because she thought if she let Ryusei live with his father then he will just become someone like his father.

It was an image etched into his memory, a wound that refused to heal. The trauma forged an aversion to witnessing the dissolution of love, a pain that he doesn't want to experience ever again.

Driven by an impulse to salvage the couple's unraveling connection, Ryusei approached them cautiously. He knew he was a third person and it's rude to interrupt them but he couldn't bear it.

He approached them. His voice, normally soft-spoken, held a gentle authority as he tried to mediate their dispute.

He came to know that the couple both were senior high school students and they started dating 2 years ago, when they first entered the high school. The girl complained that the boy doesn't pay her enough attention as he did in the beginning. She feels insecure.

But the boy insists he always gives her priority over everything and he also nearly doesn't hang out with his friends like before. But she still insists on saying that he's not giving her enough attention.

Then Ryusei told them that nothing good happens in a relationship where you argue like that. It makes the relationship unstable, unable to believe one another. They should always come down and share everything with each other. They should give each other privacy which helps to build up trust.

He then came near to the boy and said him in the ear, " Women are always a little unreasonable. They understand everything clearly but insist on the negative things to make things hard for the boys. So keep initiative and don't always argue. Just a simple apology as a compromise can help you resolve the problem."

With a compassionate understanding, Ryusei guided the young man in expressing his feelings, helping him bridge the gap that threatened to tear them apart.

As they made up the wounds in their soul threads began to mend, Ryusei felt a peculiar sense of satisfaction. A fleeting smile graced his lips as he witnessed the restorative power of understanding and empathy. The couple, their connection now strengthened, exchanged grateful glances, blissfully unaware of the quiet orchestrator of their reconciliation.

Ryusei thought to himself, " It always makes me happy to help people."

Unbeknownst to Ryusei, his actions hadn't gone unnoticed. A girl with an air of mystery had been watching the entire scene. She was in a dress that seemed to mimic the colors of a setting sun, she wore glasses that accentuated her striking features. Her gaze, sharp and perceptive, bore Ryusei with a mix of curiosity and suspicion.

As Ryusei was passing by her, he glanced at her. Their eyes met, and in that moment, a subtle recognition passed between them. The girl, whose name was yet unknown, could sense something extraordinary about Ryusei.

The way he interacted with the couple, the empathy that emanated from him – it raised questions in her mind.

She thought, " In this world where no body cares about anyone and mind their own business, why would he help them patch their problem!! Heh, interesting!"
