[Bonus chapter]Their Case Against Me

George's black Porsche was parked in the emergency lane in front of The White Oak Medical Center. The newly engaged couple made a quick trip to the hospital to make sure that both the mommy and the baby were okay. She didn't have long now before her delivery date. She needed to be careful.

George was quick to help Cynthia out of the car. They stood there for a moment.

"Thanks, George, I feel fine, but I guess the right thing would be for us to make sure that revenge is okay too." Cynthia caressed her pregnant belly tenderly.

George was very disturbed, 'Did she just call her baby revenge?!' He thought to himself.

Much more concerned than before now, George carried Cynthia through the automatic doors to the hospital.

"I can walk just fine, I must be heavy right now with the baby weight,"

"You're too light,"

"Yeah right," she rolled her eyes but he was too busy looking around for someone to talk to. The secretary at the reception gasped when she saw the two approaching, she assumed the worse because Cynthia was carried while she was pregnant.

"My name is George Robinson, I would like to talk to the doctor on duty about the situation immediately,"

She picked up a phone, "Send me Dr. Clearwater right away," She hung up and pressed a button that shone red, ten seconds later nurses ran through the hall with a gurney.

"Please take Mrs. Robinson to prenatal care,"

"Ms. Evans," Cynthia's voice was sharp while George was helping her over the gurney.

"E-excuse me,"

Cynthia glared some more at the secretary while the other nurses pushed her gurney.

After doing an ultrasound and a blood test, Dr. Clearwater gave the couple the good news.

"Everything looks okay, both the mommy and the baby are healthy and fine,"

"The contractions that the device detected?" George asked.

"That's very normal at this stage, her womb is preparing for delivery, she needs to rest and sleep a lot, let her drink a lot of water," he smiled for George. "Do you have any questions, Ms. Evans?" he added.

"Thank you, that would be all," she was checking with her own doctor after that anyway.

George and Cynthia left the hospital, and the walk to the car was a short one too.

"Will you talk to me now?" she narrowed her puffy green eyes at him when they both got in his Porsche.

"Coffee in your office first, Ms. Evans?"

Cynthia was a bit confused; George didn't drink coffee in the evenings. But she knew how stubborn he was, and she didn't have the energy to argue.

The ride back was quiet.

'Too quiet… too long,' was Cynthia's final thought before she fell asleep in Geroge's car.

***

It was too shiny and bright.

"Nanny, you've become a heartless woman, you know?" Cynthia murmured, her lips were pressed to her pillow. "It's one thing to insist on waking me up before noon every day but…" she pressed her hand over her eyes to make sure she wasn't doing her nanny wrong, "to go as far as to take my mask off!"

"You didn't have it on from the start," George said to her.

Cynthia's eyes snapped open, and she was startled to see George sitting on a chair next to her, his eyes were red and he had the same gorgeous suit from the evening minus the jacket.

Right behind him, her nanny stood, her face gave away nothing.

"Good morning, Ms. Evans, what the gentleman said was true, you did not have the mask on," her nanny gave her a pointed look.

"I must've fallen asleep on the ride back… did you stay up next to me?" She asked George.

"I was coming and going all night," her nanny answered, feigning ignorance.

Cynthia gave her a confused look, she never understood why her nanny didn't like George. 'What's not to like?' Cynthia thought to herself.

"I'll bring in your breakfast. Ms. Evans, the doctor recommended lots of rest so I had them prepare one for bed today,"

Cynthia nodded at her.

As soon as her nanny was out of the room, George sighed and started taking his clothes off.

'What is this? Torture?' Cynthia thought to herself when she tried long and hard to prevent herself from gawking openly at his chiseled muscles, down to the eight pack then right over his...

"Ehem" her nanny coughed and cleared her throat as she came back in with a maid pushing a cart that was full of food.

Her nanny started reciting, "Pancakes with honeycomb butter, Panettone French toast, Turkish scrambled eggs, Pumpkin and Cranberry Loaf. Earl Grey and Coffee."

Her nanny placed a bed tray table over Cynthia's thighs, she started organizing small plates over that. She placed two servings of each dish.

"Anything else Ms. Evans?"

She scanned the trey in front of her... Everything was in its place.

"Thanks, nanny, George and I will have a business meeting for breakfast,"

Her nanny could take a hint. She cleared the room taking the maids along with her.

Cynthia stared long into two smart blue eyes. Then her stomach growled loudly.

"You do the eating while I do the meeting, hm?" George suggested.

"Not a chance, you lose your focus when you're hungry."

She was pouring George some tea while she spoke, she found it strange that after all those years, she still remembered that he took one tablespoon of honey in his cup, he liked Cinnamon there as well, and so did she.

"Cinnamon…" she murmured as she looked back at the food cart. But her nanny strictly steered away from using Cinnamon at this point. She was a firm believer it would lead to an early delivery.

Cynthia's hand reached for the tiny bell on the trey, but George's big hand was faster, he grabbed her fingers, stopping her.

He finally got rid of the old woman that hated him so much.

"But what about Cinnamon?" Cynthia asked.

George noted that without makeup, she looked much younger. He smiled, "it's fine the way it is,"

He had to fight the urge to flirt, a little finger dipping inside a dish, or a few fingertips brushing over his lips. He let go of her hand and he let go of the thoughts in his head reminding himself that he needed to take baby steps with his wounded Cynthia.

They ate in peace after that.

Once they reached the coffee part, and he made sure that her appetite wouldn't evaporate, he opened the subject.

"We need to talk about the case they will put together against you,"

Cynthia's hand trembled as she held the cup. But George was not going to postpone it any longer.

"The Cobra is going to play the sanity card. She came prepared with that regardless of what happened there yesterday, so don't feel too bad about the water splashing in her face,"

Cynthia's eyebrows furrowed, "But what could she possibly have to support that claim?"

George stared long at her, "…Not going out of the mansion for seven months could be interpreted as a severe case of depression,"

"What?!"

"Crashing the wedding…"

"She wasn't even there!" The witch was obsessed with Cynthia's ex so much that she missed both of his weddings.

"It doesn't matter, Cynthia, it's what they can argue about, it isn't necessarily what is true and what isn't so long as it's useful for them…"

Cynthia's mouth hung open.

"The water splash incident yesterday is fine as I said, we could play this card because the high society will back you up when it's your word against hers, but she can always buy one of the restaurant workers..."

Cynthia placed the cup down, not trusting her hand anymore, "…What does that mean, George,"

He sighed.

"It means we're revising the terms of our contract,"

"What…Why?!"

He looked deeply into her beautiful green eyes.

"Because I'm moving in with you,"
