1 Farewell

There is a girl who's been with me since I was born. She always taking care of me even if I'm not special as the others. She treasures me like I'm a diamond. At first I didn't understand why were so different from each other. But after I became older I finally understood why. Because she's a human and I am her dog. She named me Lucas, I'm just a plain dog with a raven fur that she loves so much. I miss her fragrant smell that melts in my nose, although I sneezed sometimes that makes her laugh. I don't know what is her age but she's an adult, I'm sure of that. She's living her life all alone, without parents or relatives around. I wonder why?

I don't understand why did she always leaving me in the morning and only comes back at noon. She looks so tires but I can't do anything about it. Almost 6 years past and she finally got a job. She was very happy that day, but I can't relate. I wonder what job means but I think it's good because after she said that she have it she walks me in the park and feed me some meats. I like jobs! And I really love her!

But after 4 years in her work, one day she didn't came back to me. I waited and waited for her to comeback but she won't. One day someone entered her house, i thought it was her but it's the old lady nextdoor. Last time I saw her giving blue papers to that lady and said 'payment' what does that means? The old lady get some of her stuffs. Her beautiful white dress. I want to ask the lady where is she going but I cannot speak, only barks comes out on my mouth. Before the lady leave she pat my head and said;

"It's going to be okay" I don't understand.

The sun was already high but she's still not here. In the morning many people arrived in her house. I saw Lemilia, her friend. I bark, hoping for her to notice me and I succeed, she looked at me and I saw her teary eyes, what's wrong? I was looking for her, i thought she's with Lemilia but she's not. Does she already abandoned me? She's not like that, she's good and kind. She can't do that to me. Lemilia leashed me and bring me outside. I didn't resist because I know she's not a bad person. After we left her house the people left also. As Lemilia started the engine and drived, many cars are heading on the same way. "Where are we going?" I asked but only barks comes out. But I think she understands me because she responded;

"It's going to be okay Lucas" that's also what the old lady said! I didn't bother to bark again, it's tiring and annoying. I just layed down on the car's chair and waited for us to arrive in our destination.

I took a nap and when I woke up and car finally stopped. Lemilia let me out and bring me to the sheltered house over the acacia tree. There's a lot of Bermuda grass in this place. I just want to roll all day in here. Wait— is she going to surprise me? It's not my birthday though. As we entered the house, I saw a lot of jars and pictures, what is this place? Lemilia stopped walking and started to sob.

"Look Lucas, Amiria was in there" she pointed the container inside the glass. Huh? Why would Amiria go in there? She wouldn't fit. I saw her pictures inside the glass also. Is she really in there?! There's no way! It's gonna be painful and she would suffocate in that jar!

"She's gone Lucas, she already left us, she's dead" she paused. "She was raped and murdered on her way home yesterday" Lemilia said and started to cry. I do understand her but I don't get it.  All of my memories of her comes to me like a flashback. No! It can't be, death means the person will not going back anymore! That's what Amiria said to me when my mother died so she adopt me. I barked and barked, I didn't stop even if it's tiring. Amiria was annoyed by it so I stopped doing it but If I bark really hard it may wake her up right? I knocked the glass, hoping that it would open so I can let her out but it wont!

"Open this!" I barked. It can't be! It's so unfair! She promised me that we'll be together forever! And she didn't even said goodbye! There's a lot of people staring at me but I don't care! Their stares won't make Amiria come back to me!

Lemilia tried to calm me down but it doesn't work, I even howl, I guess bark won't be enough.

"Stop this Lucas, you can't bring her bark!" Lemilia shouted. It was frustrating, I don't know what to feel anymore, my chest hurts so much. Lemilia hugged me, still making me calm down.

Loosing someone you really love was too painful, even for animals. You can't hadle it by yourself, you need someone to rely on.

After Amiria's death, Lemilia kept me in there house, she's also taking care of me but still I want Amiria to do it. I've changed after that. I became gloomy and I can't eat properly, I knew that Amiria will be mad at me but she's gone. I want to go where is she.

I'm not in leash, Lemilia let me free in her house. She didn't tie me because it would be harsh. I want to go to Amiria but they won't allow me to go outside. I can't tell it to Lemilia also. She can't understand barks.

I saw the maid carrying bags of trash, I guess she'll put it outside. Sorry Lemilia but I need to see her. She opened  gate and throw the trash bags, she didn't notice me going outside, great. But I don't know how to go there. Maybe I can ask other dogs around. There's a lot of vehicles in here. Also people, they're walking side to side in the lane, and it's also noisy. I'm peacefully walking when I saw a child in the center of the road. she's going to be hit by the car, this should do, if i die in here I can be with Amiria again. I ran, fastest as I could, I shielded the child and I got hit by the car. So this what death feels like, I think I'm burning my ribs was in pain. My vison became blurry, this is it! Wait for me Amiria. I don't know what happened next as I collapsed.

I woke up white room, is this heaven? Where is Amiria? I scanned the place, its feels wrong, I think I'm not dead. Someone barged into the room and causes a noise, it's the child that I saved. She's really smiling to me. Showing her up and down part of her teeth. Her scent was familiar, Amiria? 

"Hello Raven! For now you're mine! I'll treasure you forever!" she said. And a flashback appears in my mind.

"Hello Lucas! For now you're mine! I'll treasure you forever!" the same thing as Amiria said.
