"Where Are The Lights"

"How many casualties have came in?" Doctor Russell asked looking at a patient's chart.

Flipping through the paper he grabbed his laptop looking over the patient's recent surgery. The nurse quickly grabbed more paperwork, looking through it quickly. She sighed, "We have twenty casualties, fifteen women and five men." The Doctor's lips thinned as he looked over the patient's medication. He scanned the paper and the scrolled through his laptop. He's green eyes brightened, "Our patient in room 297 on the second floor, just came out of surgery he has a medicine allergy. He's medicine will be given to him in thirty minutes. The medicine prescription needs to be changed, he has a serious allergy to that exact medicine. I've changed the prescription, don't give him anything other than what I've given him. Is that understood! Who is Dr. Haine? Find that Doctor we have something to discuss. Where are the casualties being held?"

"Yes Doctor I'll get on that right away, I'll do it myself. They're in the ER at the moment here's the listings." The Doctor handed her the clip board and pointed at the change, than he circled it in a purple ink. "Be sure to use this medication Nothing else. Understand! Make sure he recovers, if there is any changes let me know. Contact Dr. Haine, no Doctor gives my patients the wrong medication. Make that very clear to Dr. Haine I'd like to speak with him. As soon as I'm done." The nurse nodded quickly heading to the employees elevator. Her eyes widen as the realization just struck her. 'They could have lost a patient, because of a new Doctor.' She thought to herself 'She would definitely recommend their other patients to go to Dr. Russell' she thought losing a patient was terrifying to her. Stepping into the elevator she tapped the floor, tapping her foot restlessly as she waited for the elevator to stop, with the doors open. So far her day wasn't turning out good, by the end of the day she was going to be exhausted. She'd enjoy her days off, until her next working day. Looking at the chart she scanned recognizing the patients name she held back tears. 'Thank Heavens for intelligent, Good doctors.' The elevator stopped the doors opened she headed to the storage facility, scanning the shelves grabbed the vial of medicine in her hands. She punched in the security code sighing with relief as she looked at her watch. Twenty minutes she thought, walking into the hallway she tucked the chart under her arm and headed for room 297. Smoothing her hair back, she stretched her shoulders calming herself down as she opened the door. A gently sincere smile on her face, thanking the Heavens for a good Doctor. She knew her patient holding back her tears she walked up to him. Covering him with warm blankets, placing the chart at the end of his bed. She smiled brightly as her patient slowly opened his eyes. 'Another Blessed Miracle, he looked at her.' She thought confidently.

Meanwhile, Dr. Russell walked to the ER he could her someone crying and conversations. Heading towards the first room of a riot casualty. He pulled the curtain back, pulling a chair up to the bed. He leaned over checking the patient's IVs, taking blood pressure he typed it into his laptop. When the lights suddenly flickered, fading than brightening. With a sudden boom he covered his patient, he frowned looking at the light fixtures. Luckily the bulbs didn't blow, the emergency lights kicked on instantly. He heard the Doctor's hustling through the hallways checking on their patients suddenly concerned. He checked his patients' pulse, the patient lay unconscious unaware of what is happening around her. Grabbing the chart he scanned it. Pulling out a small bottle he cracked it open and waved it gently under her nose. This was only done in certain circumstances, he didn't like doing it. Yet his patient began to move with a moan. Her cloudy brown eyes slowly opened. He seen the stitches upon her cheek and temple. She taken quite a blow. He smiled, "Do you know where your at Evalen? Can you hear my voice? How are you feeling?" She closed her eyes than blinked a few times. Her brows creased with a slight flinch, she tried to talk her voice sounded so strange. "Am I still in the ambulance? I can hear you, I feel really sick, my head hurts." The Doctor nodded just as he thought as he looked over her injuries. No Evalen your at Hospital Ford in the ER. You where attacked, and sustained an injury. Can you tell me your name and your birthday. Do you know what day it is? Is there someone you'd like to call." Evalen flinched again smacking her lips she asked softly. "Do you have some water. My name is Evalen, um my birthday is March 16 Today I think is Tuesday. Last I Remember I was going to the bus at 7:30am. My brother...he should be off work now...hmm what time is it?" Dr. Russell sighed with relief looking at his watch he stated,

"It's 8 pm, we'll be moving you into another room soon. The ER is packed at the moment, can you lift your head here's a bottle of water. Its normal with your injuries to feel the way your feeling. Do you need a straw?" She slowly lifted herself up, as he assisted her, tucking the pillows behind as she grabbed the bottle placing the straw into the water she took a slow sip. Seeing a glass of ice chips beside her she flinched again. Her fingers going to her temple. The Doctor caught her hand,

"Don't touch it it's sealed, can you handle us moving you?" She sighed feeling her stomach roll wanting to reject the water she swallowed nervously, "Yes, I think so um...Doctor where are the Lights?"
