Chapter 3 - Jade Bright Cliffs

Stray was excited when the pot exploded in a rainbow of light, but immediately felt disappointment when he was notified of the result.

[Gamble Result: Divinity 1-->0, Gold Currency 0-->6]

Mentally sighing, he mentally commanded the gold in his Inventory to appear in his hand. Showing his hand to reveal six gold coin, Stray gave an awkward smile. "Hey I know it isn't much, but is it possible for me to eat a meal? I don't care what it is, I'll eat it happily."

The cat girl had watched the boy go through a mix of emotions before showing her the gold and asking for a meal. She thought he was either an odd idiot or an excentric noble, but the fact he stated six gold coins wasn't much, the cat girl instantly knew he must be an aristocrat. An aristocrat would normally pay around two or three gold coins for a meal, however this boy paid six like it was nothing, which meant he must be a powerful aristocrat.

Giving a wide smile, the cat girl bowed her head slightly. "Three is enough, I am Jade Bright Cliffs, daughter of Cloud Bright Cliffs of the Bright Cliffs tribe. May I have the pleasure of knowing Dear Customer's name?" Stray's eyes practically bursted out and his jaw struggled to not dislocate to hit the floor. As someone who had grown up as an abandoned orphan on the streets, he'd never expected to be treated like royalty. The cat girl silently held her gaze towards his eyes, patiently waiting his response.

After a full minute, Stray finally calmed down, but couldn't keep the giddiness inside him from showing. "Oh, nice to meet you Miss Jade. Everyone just calls me Stray." Jade nodded, and quietly walked towards the kitchen with a calm expression, trying her best to not let the other waitresses know the big fish that just awaited being caught.

Once the cat girl left, Stray managed to realize that her attitude towards him changed when he showed her the gold coins. 'System, how much does the average meal cost in this world?'

{The average cost for a Comfortable meal is five Copper Coins}

'Oh, then how much is a gold coin worth?'

{1 Gold Coin is worth 100 Copper Coins}

Stray's entire body immediately froze up as he processed this new information, and looking at the six gold coins in his hand, now realized why Jade's attitude changed. He'd been worried about being too poor, but it turns out he was now rich! Not only that, but he gained this much just from a single point of Divinity.

'System, what's the easiest plan to get more Divinity? I know I need to get people to worship me, but I don't get how to make that happen.' Stray felt like he understood the rules of the game, but not how to play.

{Host is recommended to reveal their race as a God/Goddess}

'And I do that, how?'

{Host I recommended to injure themselves to bleed, then show others that Host does not bleed}

Stray was confused at first, but then remembered that he didn't bleed or bruise at all when he fell in the forest. Seeing the cat girl come back with two plates, he smiled at her as she came to his table. Setting the two plates down in front of him, one had a large sizzling steak, while the other had eating utensils. Jade made another slight bow to him and was about to leave, before he spoke up. "Hey, do you mind if I show you something Miss Jade?"

Jade was slightly surprised, but managed to hide her slight fear as she nodded with a polite smile. Stray picked up the knife, and with one quick motion, cut open his other hand. It actually hurt like hell, but seeing the expression of everyone in the tavern at the sight of him not bleeding was worth it.

Stray immediately started hearing several dings in his mind. 'System, how much Divinity do I have now?'

[Divinity: 18]

He was tempted to check the Store function, but the smell of the steak reminded him of the meal. Stray was about to eat, but Jade do spoke up in a nervous voice. "Master.....Master Stray would you like me to tend to your wounds? This mortal thinks it may hinder your enjoyment of the meal."

Puzzled as to why her voice sounded so strange, Stray saw the previously confident and well mannered girl, now pale and shaking in terror. He watched her for a full minute, trying to think of what to do, before deciding to copy from a romance movie he saw once.

Getting up from the chair, the cat girl thought she'd offended him and turned to run, but Stray hugged her from behind before she could get away. Confused at how gentle he was, her body froze when his breath brushed past her ears. "Shh, it's okay. Nobody's going to hurt you, everything is fine. There's no need for gloom, so put a smile on that pretty face." Although his voice was as quiet as a whisper, due to the entire tavern going silent after the display, everyone could hear the words being said.

Realizing that everyone could hear him, Stray immediately felt embarrassed about his corny words. He quickly let go of the girl, sat down, and held his cut hand out while keeping his head down to hide his blushed face. It took several minutes for Jade to turn around and see his reaction, but the sight replaced all of her fear with excitement. Forget big fish, this was a baby dragon waiting to be caught!

While gods and goddesses were known to live among mortals sometimes, most were hundreds of years old and usually very experienced in life. Based on Stray's embarrassment however, it seemed like he had almost no experience with women! Closing her eyes and calming herself, Jade moved towards him and placed his injured hand between both of hers. A blue glow left her hands and it surrounded the cut on his hand, slowly repairing the damage.

Since I'm the type to plan as they go, I don't have any set pairing in mind nor have I decided on if there would be a harem or not. I'm mostly just planning things one or two chapters ahead lol.

Hope you are enjoying my novel!
