238 Chapter 238: Dealing with Trivial Matters

What's called a perfect "godly save."

In this situation, it perfectly exemplified the profound artistry of this "godly save" maneuver.

The execution of this "godly save" was simply impeccable. After revealing the scandal, there was a party involved present here.

At that moment, Ryu Sagawa's face turned pale and then flushed with anger. He was clearly enraged.

"You bastard!!"

Ryu Sagawa's tone was venomous. "Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you know two reporters. I know far more people in the industry than you do. If you think you can smear my name, you're far from capable!"

"What If I'm added to the mix."

Just then, a somewhat gentle but chilling male voice suddenly sounded, causing Ryu Sagawa to instantly freeze up like a duck that had its neck gripped, rendered speechless in an instant.

The one who spoke was none other than the seemingly good-natured Suzuki Shiro. "Our Suzuki family will never associate with someone like you! Not only that, I will also expose your misdeeds to the media!"

"....."

Upon hearing Suzuki Shiro's words, Ryu Sagawa couldn't respond due to the despair that had been steadily growing within him.

Because he knew that his reputation was now utterly ruined. The involvement of the Suzuki family meant something significant, and everyone present was well aware of it.

Even if it was just a gesture of goodwill, the retaliation from the conglomerate was something he couldn't withstand.

As for revenge...

For a moment, the thought did cross Ryu Sagawa's mind, but he quickly extinguished it himself.

The most he could do now was lose his job, but he had still earned money and had savings from before. If he were to seek revenge, his life would be utterly destroyed.

He knew little about Senichi, only that last night he had single-handedly arrested the armed criminal Scorpion.

That was an international thief! And a dangerous one with an uncannily accurate shooting ability that always aimed for the right eye of her targets!

If even such a dangerous shooter had been subdued, the thought of seeking revenge was just a feeble notion to him.

But why?

By rights, the Suzuki family isn't known for being this domineering. Even if their financial dealings with some party aren't good, at most, they would sever ties with the other party. They wouldn't casually target a small fry like him.

After all, the Suzuki family is quite extensive and values amiability for prosperity. Snuffing out someone insignificant like him would only make more small fries view the Suzuki family as difficult to deal with.

At their level, they need a good reputation, not a reputation that inspires fear.

But later, as he was escorted back to his room by the cold-faced Secretary Nishino, he heard the Suzuki family's second daughter calling Senichi "brother-in-law" nearby.

At this point, Ryu Sagawa's face turned even paler, and his despair deepened further.

If he had known that the guy was actually the Suzuki family's son-in-law?

You should have said so earlier!

If I had known that you had this other identity besides being a damned detective, I wouldn't have... I just wouldn't have gone that far!! I would have left right away!!

But now it was too late to regret. Ryu Sagawa returned to Tokyo with a frustrated expression, and was kicked off the ship after returning to Tokyo.

After a short rest, the group set off for Miss Natsumi's Yokosuka Castle.

During this time, even Shoichi Inui's actions didn't deviate from Senichi's expectations, or rather, they didn't diverge from the scripted development.

As a true greedy person, he stealthily slipped away and found a hidden treasure compartment within the castle.

However, just as he was preparing to pry open the compartment with tools to retrieve the treasures inside, his arm was immediately caught by a lock mechanism. A trap from above, laden with weapons, fell down, leaving him half dead with fright.

While the butler intended to chase him out, Senichi stopped the butler's action with a playful expression. "Mr. Shoichi Inui, the act of taking without asking is known as theft. Being caught stealing before a detective is quite embarrassing. You seem to not take me seriously."

"This... this is..." Shoichi Inui's complexion turned unsightly.

"Well, I'll make a call to have someone pick you up in a moment. For now, just stay put." Senichi dialed Inspector Megure's number as he spoke, causing Shoichi Inui, who was still begging, to go pale immediately.

Kicking out these two pests one by one.

For Senichi, it was actually quite important.

After all, sometimes the "perfect" and "successful" rewards might be different based on the completeness of these minor details.

So, whenever Senichi had the capability, he would always strive to do his best.

Anyway, generally, when Senichi dealt with these trivial matters, he was likely facing not-so-good people. Punishing them came with no pressure at all.

Leaving Shoichi Inui to stew in the trap mechanism, the rest of the group began to search the castle.

"Speaking of which, this castle is really huge." Led by the butler, the group explored the entire castle, but unfortunately, they still hadn't found the location of the treasure.

When the timing seemed right, Senichi stopped going with the flow and began to prepare to carry the whole scene.

Before that, though, Inspector Megure arrived in time, accompanied by Officer Shiratori, who had returned from vacation and seemed somewhat bored.

Inspector Megure took Shoichi Inui back to the police station, while Officer Shiratori stayed behind to help.

Because Officer Shiratori is still on vacation, it couldn't really be seen as favoritism.

However, when Senichi looked at Officer Shiratori, he couldn't help but smile playfully. He didn't immediately expose this "Kid" though.

After this little episode, the group resumed their search of the castle. In the end, with no leads in sight, Senichi stepped forward and asked, "Is there a basement or something similar here, Mr. butler?"

"No, at least I'm not aware of one," butler Sawabe shook his head.

"In that case, does Miss Natsumi's great-grandfather have a room on the ground floor?" Senichi asked again.

"If that's the case, there is a study on the ground floor," butler Sawabe replied promptly.

"Alright, let's go there," Senichi decided directly.

"Hey, kid, is it reliable to make decisions like this so casually?" Kogoro Mouri doubted.

"If there's a basement, then the room where Miss Natsumi's great-grandfather stayed would be the most likely place."

Senichi replied, "And since we haven't found any clues yet, it's just a matter of wasting a bit more time."

"Then let's take a look." Miss Natsumi nodded in agreement and led the group to her great-grandfather's study room.

Upon reaching the room, Senichi, who was already familiar with the plot, naturally didn't intend to be passively discovered.

After a decent search, Senichi walked up to Kogoro Mouri and held out his hand. "Uncle Mouri, lend me a cigarette."

"Aren't you a non-smoker?" Kogoro Mouri looked puzzled as Senichi reached out for a cigarette.

"I'm not taking this cigarette to smoke. I'm using it to see if there's a basement. It's a little trick from Investigation Science."

Senichi explained aloud, "If there's a basement here, the air circulation would be active. If there's a change in the smoke, we can naturally determine the location of the basement."
