167 Chapter 167: The North Star Train

The North Star Train is a luxury (express) train that travels between Ueno, Tokyo, and Sapporo, Hokkaido.

With the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, the North Star Train began operating in 1988.

In the present era, the North Star Train is considered one of the most luxurious trains, and even the tickets for the first-class seats are not easily obtainable, even with money.

Because of its blue livery, it is also known as the "Blue Train."

The North Star Train is not only one of the most luxurious trains but also holds a special status among railway enthusiasts.

It is even called a must-ride train that one must travel on at least once in their lifetime.

"Wow, this place is really luxurious." After boarding the train, Kogoro Mouri couldn't help but exclaim as he looked around at the decorations.

This exclamation continued from the moment they boarded the train until they entered their room, just in a slightly different form... like now.

"Hmph, it's not bragging if it's true. The reason both of you can enjoy this luxurious North Star journey is all thanks to the efforts of the Sleeping Kogoro!"

Kogoro Mouri proudly repeated his achievements, causing Conan, who was standing nearby, to roll his eyes and retort, 'It was obviously my achievement. You probably solved the case without knowing anything!'

It wasn't that Conan was impatient, but ever since they entered the room, this uncle had repeated similar words seven times already, even Ran couldn't help but smile bitterly.

But it was understandable, considering that if we compared the environment inside this train to many trains in the future, it was much better.

Except for the slightly smaller space, the rooms even had facilities like showers, making them comparable to hotel environments.

In a way, Kogoro Mouri was quite childish and couldn't help but boast about his achievements.

"Hey, hey, otou-san, I'm really grateful to you..." As Kogoro Mouri seemed to continue, Ran quickly interjected, "By the way, otou-san, I suddenly feel really hungry. Let's call Detective Senichi and go eat together."

"It's already this late, and it's indeed time for dinner." Kogoro Mouri glanced at the time, then extended his thumb towards the door. "Right, Miss Natsue said in her letter that she had arranged dinner for us on the train. Let's go eat now."

"Then let's find Detective Senichi and go to the dining cart together," Conan said.

"Alright, let's do that."

While Kogoro Mouri spoke, he opened the door, but the next moment, he collided with a man wearing a mask and sunglasses.

"You idiot! Can't you watch where you're going!"

A man with a hat and a big beard pulled down his mask in anger.

"Well, friend, don't get so worked up. It was just a small accident."

Just as the two men argued, Senichi walked over from the adjacent corridor.

"And who are you?!"

Before the man could get angry again, he recognized the face of the man he had bumped into and immediately pointed at Kogoro Mouri in astonishment, "Aren't you..."

Then, with a bewildered expression, he felt someone approaching from behind and instinctively turned his head, only to see another familiar face.

"You..." After recognizing Senichi's identity, the man's momentum weakened, and he quickly raised his mask, "Forget it, let's leave it at that..."

While pretending to be impatient, the man wanted to walk past Senichi.

"Don't be in such a hurry, my friend. It's our fault for running into you. Let me apologize on behalf of my companion," Senichi smiled and stood in front of the man. "When you make a mistake, you have to take responsibility, don't you agree, Mr. Asama?"

In the next moment, the man referred to as Asama by Senichi immediately changed his facial expression. With a loud roar, he turned his body to the side, his right arm forming an elbow strike, and charged towards Senichi's chest like a battering ram.

Senichi, who had been intervening, swiftly dodged the man's elbow strike, which was aimed at his chest, as if avoiding a siege weapon. At the same time, he tripped the man's right leg with his own right leg and used both hands to push the man's left shoulder, causing him to collide with the adjacent wall.

"Bang!"

The tremendous force made the man crash into the wall, creating a loud noise, but he didn't suffer any injuries.

"What... what's going on?!" Kogoro Mouri looked at the sudden fight between the two with a sense of bewilderment. "Stop fighting! It was just a accident. Can't I apologize?!"

"He's a fugitive!" Senichi immediately shouted, "Help me!"

Upon hearing this, Asama struggled even more desperately. He forcefully slammed his head towards Senichi's face behind him, while his right elbow struck fiercely behind him.

But Senichi was prepared for a counterattack. How could he not have a response?

As he pressed Asama against the wall, he knew that a part of his right hand was still free to move. Just before Asama's elbow strike, he firmly held Asama's upper right arm, restraining his attack against the wall.

While preventing the elbow strike, Senichi bent his leg, lowered his waist, avoiding the headbutt, and forcefully rammed his shoulder into Asama's spine.

"Bang!"

Another loud noise reverberated through the wall. Senichi's blow was exceptionally fierce, with no restraint at all, like a war vehicle with the throttle fully pressed, unleashing all the strength of his body in the strike.

Asama's head crashed hard against the wall, and his body was consumed by intense pain.

It was only at this moment that Kogoro Mouri stepped forward, approached them, and directly pressed down on Asama's shoulder. Together, they managed to bring him down and restrain him on the ground.

"Conan, handcuffs!"

Senichi shouted, and Conan immediately found the leather holster with handcuffs around Senichi's waist and handed it to him.

After handcuffing the man, Senichi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Detective Senichi, are you okay? What's going on?"

When Ran heard the commotion and saw Conan leaving the room, she witnessed the fight between the two and heard Senichi's shout. However, Kogoro Mouri had already rushed in and subdued the man, so Ran didn't have a chance to intervene.

But what puzzled her was how all of this happened so suddenly, without any warning. It was difficult for her to process.

"Yeah, Detective Senichi, what exactly happened?" Kogoro Mouri also asked, "You said he's a fugitive? What's the situation?"

"A while ago, there was a robber who escaped from a jewelry store owned by Asama Yasuji. You should have heard about it, right?"

"Oh, I've heard about it. There were news reports," Ran exclaimed in surprise as she looked at the man on the ground. "So, he..."

"Yes, that's the guy." Senichi nodded with a smile. "But I didn't expect to encounter him here. What a coincidence."
