16 Gun Nut? In New Vegas?

Wait, how did it not cross my mind to try to make it myself? I meant I know how to do it. Wait, how did I know how to do it? I didn't remember I had extensive gun knowledge back in my previous world. Looking at my Pip-Boy, that thing might be the answer to why I could do that.

I didn't know why, but every time I leveled up, I somehow gained more knowledge about guns. Like, I only used to say that a barrel was called the long thing, and the trigger was the pulley-bang-bang thing. I checked my Pip-Boy to see all of my stats.

Name: Enzo

Caps: 919

Level: 4

EXP: 820/1,050

S.P.E.C.I.A.L

Strength: 3

Perception: 7

Endurance: 6

Charisma: 2

Intelligence: 9

Agility: 4

Luck: 9

Alright, that was nothing out of the ordinary, I never tried to increase the S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats either way. I just felt that New Vegas was more focused on skills than anything. I skipped right through to the perks that I had.

PERKS

Fast Shot: This trait increases fire rate by 20% and reduces AP costs by 20%, but increases weapon spread and reduces V.A.T.S. accuracy by 20%, with energy weapons and guns.

Man Killer: Increase damage to a male opponent by 10%

Educated: With this perk, you will add +2 skill points each time you gain a new experience level.

Recycler I: Turn any scraps into desirable components for crafting, standard-issue for all Vault Dwellers or anyone equipped with Pip-Boy. Any junk picked up would be turned into scraps automatically.

Gun Nut I: You can add and create a basic weapon mod to your ballistic weapon

Energy Nut 1: You can add and create a basic weapon mod to your energy weapon

The first three perks were something that I found to be normal, but the rest of them, especially the last three ones? I didn't remember picking them up. Heck, I didn't remember they existed in the game at all. Still, nevertheless, I found it to be rather useful at the end of the day.

If I could make weapon mods by myself, it would mean that I would be able to modify anything in the way I wanted it to be. So, it would be useful. However, I needed a workbench or a weapon station to craft the weapon modification, where could I find that, anyway?

Right beside the general store, there was a workbench. I might be able to use that. I approached the workbench and stood right by it. A prompt appeared in the corner of my eye again, this time, it displayed whether I wanted to use the workbench or not.

◄ALL►

A bunch of recipes appeared in front of me, however, none of them was craftable. If this was how Pip-Boy worked in Fallout, no wonder every single Vault Dweller was equipped with one. It allowed them to do something that a regular person wouldn't be able to do.

I meant, how a regular person would know how to create an automatic receiver for firearms? I wouldn't know if it wasn't for this Pip-Boy. Well, what a convenience. However, the Pip-Boy didn't display an automatic receiver, but instead, it only had an option to turn junk into useful items.

[Turn Scrap Metal into Components]

[Turn Scrap Electronics into Componens]

[Turn Scrap Medicines into Components]

[Turn Scrap Furniture into Components]

Those were all of the four options that the prompt on my peripheral vision gave me once I arrived at the workbench. I didn't have any of those scraps, but I knew that it would be required to craft a weapon modification. I should just buy scrap metals first at the general store. Maybe some adhesives as well, considering that it would be required to craft something, perhaps?

I headed back to the general store to get myself some items to craft that automatic receiver for this service rifle that I used. I entered the general store again and bought myself three scrap metals alongside two packs of wonderglue for a total of 120 caps. The merchant immediately asked me what I was doing.

"Making myself a weapon mod, hehe," I giggled.

The merchant just scratched his head in confusion, but I know what I was doing now. My goal was to make this Service Rifle turn automatic. It would be a massive improvement from what I knew. I immediately headed into the workbench and turned the scrap metals into components.

[Turn 3x Scrap Metals into Components?]

The prompt asked me that. I said yes. All of a sudden, my whole vision went darkened with the sound of a hammer filling my ears. I couldn't feel my legs, I couldn't feel my hands, I couldn't feel any part of my body as my whole vision darkened. I calmed down, it might just be a natural thing. Eventually, my vision and my sense returned to where they should be.

[36x Multipurpose Metal, 15x screws, and 6x gears have been added to inventory]

I didn't know what happened when my vision darkened, but it was certain that all of the items were created when my vision went dark. Well, it might be the Pip-Boy taking over my body for what I knew. Robert House must have put some sort of neuro-science magic inside of this thing.

Thinking about it, the wait feature on New Vegas was also nuts. How could a person stand still for 24 hours, it just didn't make any sense to me. I couldn't get myself to stand still for five minutes, let alone 24 hours.

There was a weapon workbench near the regular workbench. I headed there and put my service rifle on the table. A prompt appeared. It showed me the modifications available that I could make for the service rifle.

[Receiver]

[Gas System]

[Barrel]

[Stock]

[Magazine]

[Sights]

[Accessories]

[Muzzle]

I picked the receiver option, and it greeted me with many more options that improved damage than my stat current provided me with. It was incredible, I never thought I'd be able to tinker with my gun, in New Vegas, much less New Vegas: Real Life edition.

Receiver:

[Standard Receiver]

[Light Frame Receiver] : +3 DAM

[Heavy Frame Receiver] : +6 DAM

[Calibrated Receiver] : +9 DAM

[Hardened Receiver] : +15 DAM

[Automatic Receiver] : +1 DAM + Automatic Firing Mode

The other options were enticing, but my point was to convert my rifle to something more versatile against a crowd of enemies. I chose to craft the automatic receiver, even though the other was a good option. Couldn't always rely on myself to trust that I'd pull the trigger fast enough. Besides, I could fire in bursts.

[Automatic Receiver]

-Adhesive x3

-Gears x4

-Oil x6

-Screw x4

-Multipurpose Metal x9

I pressed craft, and my vision darkened again. After a while, I was greeted with another brightened vision and a new service rifle for myself to use. I could say that this rifle looked better than when I put it in here.

[Service Rifle+]

DAM: 22

DPS: 245

Mods: Light Gas System, Automatic Receiver

I put the rifle on my back again. Now, what I should do in Nipton, knowing that I had delivered the package to General Store? Perhaps, I could return to Mojave Express? I wasn't sure, though. There might be someone that I could hitch, such as someone requiring a caravan escort.

Screw that, time to go back to Primm.
