22 Erisa the dragovian

The hotsprings were a rocky black area with steaming water that had a slight grey tinge on account of the minerals in it. alastair stepped into the hotspring carefully wincing slightly at the temperature before quickly getting used to it. "ah now this is nice." alastair stair while leaning against the stone side of the hotspring. "i can't argue there." erik said while copying alastair. "you ever wonder if its worth it? you know trying so hard to save people we don't even know i mean?" alastair asked seriously which caused erik to look at him confused.

"What do you mean?" erik asked. "i mean like i'm a pretty nice guy right but that doesn't mean i have to travel gods know where just to save people i likely won't ever even see right?" alastair asked conflicted "but just because i have this mark on the back of my hand i have to do precisely that and i don't even get much of a say in it so i am just wondering if its worth it." he finished with a tired sigh. "i think i get were you are coming from , where you have this definitely not great situation but you can't do anything to change it. it's frustrating ." erik said.

"Yes for you and whoever joins us later you all have the choice to leave if you wish , i'm not saying i'm not thankful you are here but you do have a choice in the matter whereas the responsibility is literally branded into me." alastair said with a touch of venom while he stares at the mark on his left hand. erik sighs "it is worth it and the reason is that otherwise the entire world is doomed and everyone you know and love is included in that." he says.

"That is indeed true what better reason to get married that that?" a familiar female voice says from the roof of the awning over their heads. alastair and erik both freeze at the voice and slowly look above them to see a familiar head of red hair and purple tipped ears looking down at them. "hello again mate as well as mates friend." erisa said with a grin. "first i am pretty sure i told you no and second one of the rules for this place is that men and women don't go into the others section." alastair said with a scowl.

Erisa stared at alastair confused "why do you reject being a dragovian? or is it me that is unattractive?" she asked completely confused. alastair and erik both looked at this strange girl like she was crazy before looking at each other. "do you want to explain this or should i?" erik asked seriously. "by all means you first." alastair said washing his hands of the awkward conversation. "right so first whats a dragovian and second is that you don't just walk up to someone who doesn't know you and asked them to marry you and expect them to say yes." erik said seriously.

"Is that not how you seek courtship? anyway dragovians are those like myself of course." erisa said explaining nothing. "besides your eyes and ears we can't see anything different between you and everyone else we've met." erik said honestly. erisa looked stunned for a moment "of course you can't tell the greatness of the dragovian race! my apologies behold a dragovian!" she exclaims before a bright light covers her and blinds erik and alastair for a moment before they regain their sight and look dumbstruck at what replaced erisa.

Floating above the awning was a nearly ten meter long serpentine for with two large long feathered wings on its back and shining crimson scales like arrowheads. there were four five clawed legs with scarlet flame plumes at the wrist and a large reptilian head with sharp black growths along the cheeks and grand horns on the top of it like a crown. the creature floating majestically above the awning leisurely stretched out and gracefully descended into the hotspring that was just big enough to house it before another bright flash blinded the two boys and when they could see again they saw erisa relaxing in the hotspring looking at them smugly.(pic in the comment)

"And that is a dragovian." she said with a smirk. it took a minute for the two boys to process the information they just had smack them in the face. "so you are basically just a dragon?" alastair asked for clarity. erisa looked offended "no! those imposters were created to look like us by the first dark one. dragovians were made in the yggdragons image instead , we are immune to curses and live for at average fifteen hundred years. those imposters wish they were as great as we are." she said pridefully.

"Right how on erdrea is it that your race isn't well know by literally everyone if what you say is true?" erik asked confused. erisa blushed at the question in embarrassment "so we may or may not rarely leave our homes and we may or may not only have a village full of people." she said looking away in embarrassment. alastair stopped erik from asking how such a thing was possible with the dragovians strength. "if i'm not wrong the reason there as so few of you is to do with the law of strength correct?" alastair looked for confirmation.

Erisa looked confused "i am unaware of what this law you speak of is , explain." she said seriously and erik nodded in agreement. "the law of strength is that the more powerful a creature is the rarer it is because nature traded off that power for the ability to rapidly reproduce. an example is the difference between a chicken and an eagle. chickens reproduce in huge numbers and very quickly whereas eagle only have at most three children at a time and very rarely at that." alastair explained honestly. "what you say does indeed make sense and explains much." erisa said in understanding.
