ISABELLA 

Rory was quite tired after playing most of the day, so she took a nap. 

Tristan used the chance to ask, "you said I had a message?" 

"Yes. Hold on. I wrote the number down." I ran to the kitchen where I had written the number on a post-it and stuck it on the fridge door.  I brought the note back to him. "It was a woman. She said she couldn't reach you and hoped you could call her back. She also said she would visit tomorrow." 

With that last statement, Tristan's brows knitted. 

I tried to rein my curiosity in. Who was the woman? 

Based on his reaction, the first thing I could think of was…ex-girlfriend? Wait. Ex-wife? 

I was coming up with all sorts of scenarios. Could Tristan have shared custody with Rory's mother? It would make sense if the latter was coming over to pick the girl up.
