8 The Hunted Date

"What do you think?" Luke asked Freya as they stood at the entrance of a hunted house.

Freya was surprised and pleased at the same time. She liked horror movies and she was thrilled to see that his surprise outing was to bring her to a hunted house. The hunted house was a two story building, it was painted dark brown with a door that was painted red that looked a lot like blood. It looked old and dark, yet inviting.

"Wow! I love it, how did you know I like hunted houses?" She asked grinning up at him as he stared down at her with a smile on his lips.

"I told Gwen to find out what you like the most, she found out one of them was hunted houses, so I knew that had to be it. I am glad that you love it."

"No wonder she was trying to get me to play 20 questions with her."

"Come on, let's go in." Luke told her and they went through the blood red door.

Slow eerie music was being played in the house. In the middle of the room, there was a ride on a rail that lead deeper into the house, by the left of the room, there was a brown door, and by the right there was a creaky, old staircase.

"Where should we go first?" Luke asked Freya.

"Let's go up the staircase first, then we'll come back and try the ride." She answered and they went up the old stairs. It creaked with each step they made, they finally reached the top of the stairs and found two doors with a sign on top of each. 'Not scary' was the sign on top of the left door, and 'Too scary' was the sign on top of the right door.

Since Freya knew she was the one that would be calling the shots here, she opened the right door and walked in with Luke. The door slammed close behind them. The room was dark until a small light flickered at the center of the room.

"Argh." A zombie robot came quickly at Luke from behind, he moved back and started running farther into the room with Freya. The zombie had red glowing eyes and it looked very pale and fleshy, almost real. The hair was in clomps, its mouth was hanging open and it was missing an arm, it was a male zombie.

More groaning and more zombies started following them until they reached a wall. Different weapons were hung on the wall; two crowbars, three baseball bat, two sledge hammers, an axe and two golf sticks. They quickly armed themselves; Freya took a baseball bat and Luke took a sledge hammer. Six zombies staggered closer to them quicker than expected, moaning and they both held their weapons tighter ready to smash.

The zombies surrounded them and Freya swung her bat at one smashing the robot down then another tried grabbing her, but she ducked then smashed it on the head. Another came at her and she swung her bat twice, stopping it. Two zombies were clawing at Luke trying to grab him, he moved away and swung his hammer at the first then the second one and they both fell down. The last zombie tried biting Freya from behind with its robotic teeth, but Luke slammed his hammer on its head bringing it down.

"Whoa, that was fun! We need to check out the other door." Freya said in a pant grinning.

They entered the 'Not scary' door and found a doctor operating in the middle of the room. A patient was lying on the operating table with blood flooding from his stomach and onto the floor. The doctor was using a mechanical saw to cut the man's stomach open and the man was screaming in pain. It seemed too real and familiar to Freya, and she gasped.

The doctor glanced at her and she was sure that he was Dr David even though he was wearing a surgical mask. The scene reminded her of what she saw at his house, it didn't seem like acting, it felt real and that disturbed her.

"Luke, let's go."

"Are you okay? You look a little pale." Luke asked concerned, but followed her out the door and down the stairs.

"I'm fine, the scene just looked inhumane and disturbing."

"I thought so too, and the doctor looked a little familiar." She knew that her mind wasn't playing tricks on her when she thought she saw Dr David.

"Yeah, I know." She didn't say anything about her thoughts because she remembered Dr David and Clara Wilde's threat last night, and she didn't want to drag Luke into that.

They reached the ride and sat in it, the ride automatically started moving down the rail after they buckled their seatbelts. It gently gained momentum, speeding faster and faster racing up. A skeleton popped up by Freya's side and she let out a squeal. Luke touched her arm, "Are you okay?"

Before she could reply, bats came at their heads and they ducked in their seats. A clown puppet popped up, then another skeleton and a scarecrow. The ride went down, then up and then in a loop. It started going down, scary things popping up here and now. They finally stopped where a group of clowns were playing tricks with some hunted house guests watching them.

They got out of the ride and ambled to the crowd. The clowns were dressed in ridiculous frilly outfits and had painted their faces like regular clowns. One was juggling some wooden cubes, two were trying to do magic tricks, they placed handkerchiefs in a black hat trying to cast a spell and the last one was telling jokes to the people close to him.

"That was fun, but we didn't really get to talk and get to know each other as we planned." Freya said as they walked out of the hunted house.

"Don't worry, I planed for that to happen after I charmed you into liking me with that hunted house." Luke said as he turned and looked at her, it felt like he was looking through her.

"I've made an appointment at a restaurant close by. Let's go there and talk."

"That's really good planning Luke."

"For you Freya, I'll make sure everything's perfect." He said with a smile on his lips.
