My Son

"I want to have nothing to do with you or your son. Both of you are equally shameless. You tried to force me into having an abortion five years ago, and Xu Jingchen abandoned my son and me! I am not so stupid as to want someone who has already abandoned me, nor will I ever enter your family. You are disgusting, selfish, and manipulative. Who knows, you might try killing my son again!"

Lin Meixing was not willing to spend another moment in front of this vile woman who made her want to bash up something, so without even a final glance at her, she strode towards the outside of the restaurant.

It was not before she was outside that she took a deep breath and calmed her nerves. She snorted when thinking about the words the woman had said, but she was not going to stoop down to her level. Instead, she hailed a taxi and went back to the office.

Xu Jingchen leaned against the wall, staring at the picture in his hands. He was shocked, his heart was beating erratically, and he did not know if he was happy or sad.

It had come too suddenly. Although he now knew that he had a son, he was not sure how to handle it. This son had appeared out of nowhere, and he had never been there to look after him. It was clear that Lin Meixing and her son had been abandoned by him in the past, whether he had done it willingly or not.

While Lin Meixing was busy leaving, Xu Jingchen called Assistant Lei, telling him to find out what preschool Lin Meixing's son went to, and while Assistant Lei was surprised and confused, he still did his job properly.

A few moments later, Xu Jingchen got an address on his phone, and he left the restaurant, heading straight to the preschool.

As he arrived, he was surprised. Although the facilities were not bad, they were far from what his son ought to grow up enjoying. He was already sure that this child was his, which meant that at some point in time, Lin Meixing had been his as well.

A strange sense of comfort and satisfaction flashed in his heart whenever he thought about the fact that Lin Meixing had been his, but he could still not remember a moment of the time they had spent together.

As he walked into the preschool, everyone was shocked. They knew Xu Jingchen as he was often in the news, but they did not know what exactly was his purpose at their humble institution.

The director hurried out when he heard that Xu Jingchen had been spotted, and he was full of flattery as he greeted him.

"What might we be able to assist you with?" the director asked while rubbing his hands, but Xu Jingchen was busy looking at the playground, trying to locate his son.

"I am looking for Lin Jingli."

"Well, this is a bit awkward, but only family members are allowed to visit the children here," the director said with a bit of an awkward expression on his face. He was not sure what he should do or say so that he would not insult Xu Jingchen, but still keep the rules.

"I am his father," Xu Jingchen said with a cold voice, "do I have the right to see him?"

"Yes... Yes, of course!" The director was shocked silly and scared when he thought about the fact that Lin Jingli, the fatherless child, was actually the son of Xu Jingchen.

"Prepare a room for me to meet him in. I do not want anyone to disturb us while we speak together."

The director was not sure what to say, but he just nodded his head. He was a little hesitant though. Everyone knew that Lin Jingli was from a single-parent family and that he did not have a father, but upon closer inspection, they did resemble one another quite a bit.

Finally, after convincing himself that Xu Jingchen was not here to cause problems, he then found a room where no one would disturb the father and son.

Xu Jingchen was seated in the room, his eyes never left the door, and after around five minutes the door opened and a small soft boy entered through it.

The moment he saw the boy's face, Xu Jingchen's pupils widened in shock.

The face was so similar to his, but with a few touches that reminded him of Lin Meixing.

He had originally not know if he should believe that this was, in fact, his son, but upon seeing him there was no doubt in his heart. He had a son!

Unfortunately, Lin Jingli was not pleased when he saw Xu Jingchen. His brows furrowed and the corners of his lips turned downwards into a scowl.

"You are my father?" He asked, his voice full of disgust and mockery, making Xu Jingchen slightly startled.

"I am," he answered with a nod of his head. He had thought that the kid would be ecstatic to find his father, but Lin Jingli just looked at him with his cold eyes.

"I am not going to follow you. I have mommy, and she is everything I need in this life. Don't try to fight with her for custody, if you force me away from her I will make your life a living hell."

Xu Jingchen then realized that his son was not at all eager to get a father. He felt a strange sense of loss.

"I won't fight her for custody," he promised. Although he knew that he could, his heart ached at the thought of having to fight Lin Meixing.

"Why are you even here then?" Lin Jingli asked with a snort. "You never paid any attention to mother or me when we were struggling to survive, who gives you the right to appear now? Do you think you can make up for all the time you had abandoned us?

"I can forgive you since, honestly, you mean nothing to me, but what about my mother? She was merely eighteen when she got pregnant. She was chased away from the country and had to study, work, and raise me all alone in a foreign land. Never once did you give her a hand, but now she's back in the country you think you can suddenly appear in our lives again?"

Sorry that there was no chapter yesterday.

I am currently sick, and have been to the doctors a few times. I am also going to the hospital on Thursday, but I will do all I can to release a chapter tomorrow and Thursday anyway.

Thank you for your patience!
