CHAPTER 014: MEMORIES

While Stell's driving her way home, the heavy rain started to fall, causing the road to becoming slippery in just a blink of an eye. She's now shivering in cold since she did not bring a coat with her. Therefore, she did not mind it at all since she knew that someone needs her right now.

Not so far away from her, she saw a kid running while her father is chasing after her.

Memories flashed back to the day when she ran outside their house to enjoy the rain. She was so happy back then.

She was shocked when she witnessed how the man got hit by a car because he tried to save his daughter. The driver did not even stop his car and just drove as fast as he could.

It's Deja Vu.

She remembers how her father did the same thing for her. He ran after her, who was enjoying the raindrops touches her skin.

She remembers how her father pushed her that causes him to get hit instead.

Her eyes were glued to the girl who's now crying and begging for her father to stay alive, the same thing that she did before.

The moment when she realizes that she's still driving, she immediately looked away, trying to stop her tears from falling. Her eyes went wide as soon as she realizes that she's going to bang on a tree.

She tried to stop her motor, which causes it to slip instead.

She grew in pain as her limbs got stuck as soon as the vehicle collapsed.

Good thing, she's wearing her helmet or else she'll possibly pass out, or worst, die.

No cars are passing by at that moment, making her feel anxious. She tried pulling the vehicle so she can free her leg.

As soon as she got her leg out, she immediately searches for her phone in her pocket so she could call someone for help.

WINSTON'S POV

I watch for my sister who's sleeping peacefully on the hospital bed. Her limbs are covered with bandages because of her injury that will surely take a few more days to heal. She also got bruises on her left arm and I'm thankful that it's nothing serious. She also got her clothes changed since she got wet in the rain.

'It's my fault'

I massage my temple because of that thought. Only if I did not call her during her class hours, then it shouldn't have happened. If I did not lie to her, then she shouldn't have rushed her way home.

My thoughts were cut when I heard her call me. She's finally awake.

"Do you want anything?" I asked her with my worried tone which she just answered with a faint nod.

I immediately stood up from the couch and grab a glass on the table and filled it with tap water.

I guided her to sit on the bed before handing her the glass of water.

"How's mom?" She asked as soon as she finished drinking.

I mentally cursed myself as soon as she asked me that question.

"She's fine, pabo," I answered and took the glass from her tiny hands.

She frowned which made me chuckle. "Look what you've done to yourself. How careless can you be?" I asked with my voice slightly raised, and my finger is pointing her feet.

"That's nothing!" She protests. "Now, tell me what happened to her? When did she come back?" She asked with her worried tone.

"I told you she's fine. And she'll be home later on." I assured her with a smile.

"You told me she fainted." Oh yeah, I did, and I regret lying to her.

"She didn't," I just told her that she fainted so that she'll come home early to help me decorate the house. It's been a long time since we spent time with her, and they're not in good terms for years. I just thought that I could help, but making her get into an accident is not a part of my plan.

She rolled her eyes in frustration. She surprisingly did not curse nor hit me.

Even though she's not in good terms with mom, I know that she cares for her.

"Don't you want to meet her?" I asked.

She just bows her head.

I knew it. She's not ready. After everything that my mom did to her, I know she's kind of mad and disappointed.

I just watched my mom beat her with my late father's belt. She's acting immature since our father died, and she thinks that it's Stella's fault.

To be honest, it was never her fault. She's too young and everything that happened was an accident.

"You should be the one who died!" She yelled while pointing her fingers to her.

I could just watch them with tears coming out of my eyes.

My sister kept on crying out loud and begging for mom to stop as soon as the thick belt touches her skin.

I want to stop mom from hurting her but I don't dare to do so.

I watched her carelessly pull her arms and violently pushed her on the closet.

"Just get lost!" She yelled again before locking her inside.

"Yah! Oppa!" My thoughts were cut as she called me. "Are you okay?", she asked worriedly.

I just shook my head and gave her a reassuring smile.

My smile faded when I realize how her lips look too pale.

I put my palm on her forehead to check her temperature and it's no surprise that she got a fever since she got stuck under the rain for who knows how long. But still, everything's my fault. She would never get sick if I did not lie.

What a bad brother I am.
