Chapter 33: Ignoring the Moral Compass

It hurts, Takabi thought.

He gripped his skull, flames burning the air around him.

It hurts so damn much.

He hated Orion, he hated the world, but he hated himself for being so late. How long? A day? The full week?

"You alright? You look like you're gonna bust a vein, kid." Orion said. He broke a smile, crossing his arms. "Bust a nut instead. Frannie's all yours. Unless you wanna try Shine, if you're into that sort of thing."

To Orion's shock, he howled loudly. Electricity doubled around him, cackling with the flames.

He looked up, fire and steam oozing out from his pores. He charged ahead, like a demon, a monster, free from anything other than the want to kill. Orion dodged his straight punch, but when he attempted to counter, Takabi snapped his glare back and struck, Orion slamming into the wall hard enough to break it. Takabi gripped his ankle, swinging him around in the air, bringing him back down and slamming his spine into the dirt covered floor.

The wolf cried out in pain so great, his voice broke into a shriek. Pulling Orion close so their faces were inches apart, Takabi gripped and slammed Orion's head into the wall, and used it to dig through the concrete.

Skin tore, flesh ripped open, blood splattered and trailed against the stone material. Once Takabi reached the exit to the hall, Orion's eye caught on the metal hinge for the door, and ripped clean from its socket with a nasty tear. He cried out in agonizing pain, before the Fallen Angel threw him like a missle down the hall.

Orion slammed face first into the wall, his spine quickly snapping under the weight and body crumbling to the floor. Breathing heavy, Takabi willed the flames forth, willed his Mana to rise, and released a roar of power so great, the island shook in pure terror from his shout.

Weakly, Orion picked himself up, gasping for air. Shutting his eye socket full of blood, he looked back at Takabi. "What the FUCK!?"

Takabi stopped his roar, dashing forward at invisible speeds. Before he could react, Orion felt Takabi's knee slammed into his chin, shattering his jaw, before the boy's heavy fist struck his left cheek, knocking him down to the floor. Orion spasmed, twitched, gasped for air.

Then it was gone. Minus his missing eye, all of his injuries vanished into nothing.

Takabi grabbed his arm, looking down at the confused Wolf. "I said I wanted to be a villain."

His voice wasn't his own. It was distorted. Echoing with each word, full of a dark power.

Takabi held Orion's arm firmly, before bringing his knee against the elbow and breaking it like butter. Orion's snapping bone, and his cries of pain, sent a pleasurable chill through Takabi's mind, and he couldn't have been happier at the moment. Next, he gripped the tip of Orion's finger, and bent it back until it also snapped. Again he screamed.

"I could sit here all day, and break every bone in your body until you pass out, heal you, and do it all over again. That STILL wouldn't compare to what you put them, and me, through." He picked him up. "So, I'm going to make you feel what they felt."

He rose his palm, a magic trail rushing back into the dungeon, pulling both girls out and holding them suspended in the air. The girls and Orion glowed in a violet light. The wolf's eyes widened, and his body went stiff.

The terror Shine felt all week. The guilt, the pain, of seeing Frannie abused day after day with no rest, until it was finally her turn. How she was taken, how she felt her mind break slowly and she couldn't fight back any more. The lack of power they both had to stop it all, the pain Frannie held from having her first stolen from her by a demonic rape obsessed freak.

Everything that they felt. That they held inside, all flooded into Orion's mind.

"St… Stop it…" He said. He wiggled, throwing a punch at Takabi. It connected with no effect. "STOP IT! NO MORE! I DON'T WANT THIS!"

"Body linking sucks doesn't it." Takabi dropped Orion to the floor, bringing his foot back and kicking. Orion's head turned a full three hundred sixty degrees, the corpse flying down the hall.

Again, Takabi healed him, and watched as the Wolf revived and coughed. He dropped the girls, strolling down the hall. "I won't just torture you outright. I'm going to kill you, again, and again, and again, until I'm satisfied with how much of your blood I've bathed in."

Orion looked up at him, crawling away. Takabi kicked up a pole shaped stone, and threw it. It caught fire in the air, sliding violently up Orion's rear, and piercing through his throat. He dropped, spasming, dead.

The pole faded, Orion healed and took another breath. "YOU'RE FUCKING INSANE!! GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME YOU GOD DAMN PSYCHO!"

"I think not, Wolf boy. I still have nine hundred and ninety seven kill methods I want to try. Please," Takabi smiled, twistedly, coldly, hatefully, demonically. "Do help me test them out."

------------------------------

Kairas dropped to his knee, breathing hard. Girston stood across from him, arms crossed. "Again, you tried. Again, you failed."

"Shut up," Kairas yelled, running at his father. The Black Gem activated, dark light surrounding him as he sent another wave of ice at the Angel.

Girston rose his palm, splitting down the middle, jumping up and releasing bolts of magic light. Kairas blocked each one, leaping after his father, throwing fist after fist, spinning and landing a kick to Girston's ribs. The Angel grabbed Kairas' ankle, twirling and throwing the boy down into the floor. He landed hard, breaking the marble apart. Momentarily dazed, Girston came down, slamming his foot on Kairas' ribs, twisting and breaking them under his heel.

Kairas felt his bones rip at his lungs, but he refused to let it affect him. He grabbed Girston, sending ice up his legs. The Angel jumped back, looking down at his calf and then back to his son. "This'll get us nowhere. I have more important matters to attend to."

"I'm not letting you escape again!" Kairas yelled, pushing his palm forward, green electricity rushing through the air. Girston dodged each one, striking Kairas' chin, then pushing him back with intense force. The boy slammed into the cross, sliding down and weaving weakly. His wounds soon healed, and he stood, but the pain lingered in his bones.

"What do you hope to accomplish by killing me, boy?!" Girston's tone grew considerably loud. "I have done no wrong! I tried to protect you, yet you resent me!"

"You drove our family apart," He said. "You turned Takabi and me into killers. We have blood on our hands, because you chose to throw everything away! And for what?! For more power!?"

Girston fell silent for a moment. Sighing, he shook his head. "You truly have no clue what you speak of. I am not the villain here. That false image of your mother was."

"Shut… the fuck up. Don't you dare talk about Mom." Kairas grit his fangs. The Black Gem's markings faded away and his black eye returned to its green color. "You're an Angel, but you're the most evil person I know."

"Any anger you have towards me is misguided and deluded. You're a child at heart. You miss your Mother, and blame your Father for losing her. Foolish." Girston stood up straight. "I turned her in, as any of you would have done if you knew what she was planning."

"I said shut the fuck up!" Kairas roared. The cathedral area froze over. The ice, Girston noticed, was no longer black, but green. "My Mother! OUR Mother, would turn in her grave watching what you're doing!"

"Funny, because the woman I fell in love with, and serve now, would be proud of the blood being spilt recently." He smirked. "I'm doing what needs to be done for the greater good. If blood needs to spill, let it spill."

"You fucking-" He stopped, clutching his skull and screamed, falling to his knees. Girston watched him with a sick smile, twirling his fingers about. "Get… Get out of my head!"

"But I've missed so much of your life. Please, let me see…" He muttered. The more he used his Mana to poke around in Kairas' mind, the deeper the pain went. His head felt like it could split in two. The pain, white hot, lingering, and torturous as if his brain was being dissected. "Interesting. I had no clue you were capable of love."

The word came out, and hung in the air. Kairas slowly picked his head up, and the pain he felt vanished. "... Stay away from Jewel.."

"I think not. A descent of the Ancient Priestess. I thought they were all wiped out in the last war." Girston smiled and turned on his heel. Kairas shot up, running at him. "Don't you dare!"

Girston shot a glare back. A beam of light shot out from in front of him. Kairas couldn't react fast enough, as the light ripped through his heart. He coughed up blood, staggering, before falling face down to the floor, eyes hazy.

Numbness greeted him.

"Don't tell me what to do. You're a failure of a child, and I wish I had snuffed you out years ago. You won't die alone though. I'll send the girl and your brother with you."

"...O…"

Girston raised an eyebrow. To his dismay, Kairas slowly pushed himself up, blood pouring from the wound in his chest. "N….o…" He repeated.

Kairas snapped his gaze up, green eyes glowing brightly. Green tattoos rushed his left, completing itself with a design similar to his black. His collarbone, now sporting half a green feathered wing, sizzled.

The hole in his chest closed, heart growing back in place and beating strongly. He roared, an aura of green evil bursting from under him, pillaring through the ceiling.

Girston shielded his eyes, surprised. "I was under the impression you couldn't use that power."

Kairas didn't reply with words. His eyes, now pure white orbs, locked on Girston. The boy bared his fangs, and rushed forward at his father, like a mindless beast on a hunt.
