The Comet Tribe Mainstay

The dungeon labyrinth was illuminated by blue light from crystals decorating rocky walls and ceiling surrounding the place where Kate was born. This place was a city with a few decorative differences. Family homes were apartments built into the walls of the cave.

The city was sectioned off. In the public areas of the Cave Of Awakening, you would see restaurants, shops, a library, and a huge field to play sports, such as soccer, golf, football, and basketball. A three-on-three basketball game was ongoing. A kid was standing five feet two inches tall, much shorter than the other players, but he consistently scored on everyone else. His name was Sean; he played for his school as the star player.

There weren't any schools in the city; this was because the capital already had a surplus of schools for all ages. Due to the wealth of the tribe, all members would have to attend school during childhood. All the children would form a crowd by the buses at six in the morning to make sure not to be left behind when they departed a quarter hour later.

Robert followed Mike and Kate to Mike's grandma's apartment. The apartment had a kitchen and family room not separated by a wall. The kitchen was like one in a hotel, only having the essentials: a stovetop oven, sink, and dishwasher. The family room had a couch and table with a lamp on it.

"Pretty basic home you got here," Robert commented after seeing the room.

"Well we're not that well off I'll have you know," Mike sat on the couch with his legs crossed.

One minute later a cheerful woman walked into the room, "Mike, I see you're back and you brought some friends with you."

Robert turned to face the woman, "Hello miss, my name is Robert and sorry for being abrupt, but I was wondering if I could stay here for the time being."

"Depends, can you go to school," The woman questioned him.

"Yes?" Robert said with a confused look.

"Good, why don't I make a meal for the four of us? Oh, and my name is Daniel, " The woman said

Two hours later.

"How was the food," Daniel asked everyone.

"It was delicious," Kate said, finishing the last bite of her food.

Robert had his head down making his voice slightly muffled, "It was good, thank you very much." Then he got up from the chair, "I will go out now," He tried to hide the tears. I'm his eyes as he quickly left the apartment, but Kate was able to spot a few of them trickling down his face.

Kate bowed her head, "Thank you for the food." Then she went out to look for Robert.

Kate could find Robert anywhere, it was as if he had disappeared. Eventually, equipped with her keen sight, she was able to find Robert sobbing in one of the alleyways. Although she only knew him for a day, based on first impressions she wouldn't have guessed he would be the type to become emotional.

"Robert, is there something wrong?" Kate crouched down beside him and put her arm on his shoulder.

"You wouldn't understand," Robert still had his head down.

"Can we talk about it?" Kate asked Robert.

"I don't want to put this on you; we just met, you know," Robert wanted to minimize conversation.

"Well, If you would ever like to talk to someone, I'm here for you even if we just met," Kate was letting Robert know that she's here for him to vent.

"Thanks, Kate; that makes me feel a little better," Robert said, reaching out to grab Kate, who was now standing, hand.

It was dark outside when Robert first ran out of the room. This is the most likely time a demon will spawn from the falling stars. Fortunately, The Cave Of Awakening was in fact a cave protected by the demon and even if it wasn't, a barrier has surrounded it for many centuries. Kate and Robert started heading back to the apartment complex before it got any later.

Twenty minutes had passed since they left; now it was ten. Mike and his mom had taken showers and changed into some pajamas. Mike was sitting on the couch reading a book on the history of heavenly beings, while his mother took out two sleeping bags, one blue and the other green.

"Kate, why don't you stay for the night? The more the merrier is what I always say?" Daniel asked Kate.

"Where will we sleep?" Kate asked looking around to see if there was any room for her and Robert.

"I talked to the owners; they said both of you could sleep on the balcony," Daniel said to answer Kate's question.

"I'll be there too, keeping both of you company," Mike said grinning ear to ear.

"Well since you offered, sure," Kate didn't mind sleeping outside and neither did Robert.

"Oh and—" Robert was cut off when Daniel said, "I accidentally got Mike some pajamas that were too big for him so you can wear those and we will go to the store tomorrow. Oh and you'll go after Kate in the shower" answering his question before he asked it.

With that everyone finished setting down for the night. Mike's mom was on the pull out couch and the others were outside. Kate was asleep when suddenly Mike asked Robert what he thought about the stars. Robert told him he never thought too much about them. Mike told countless facts about the stars. From the cave, no stars could be seen, but sometimes he snuck out to see them. Robert and Mike talked about the solar system till they both fell asleep.
