Chapter 3: Saving Her Job 2

Grace breathed in deeply.

"I am not faking anything, madam. The message was relayed to me by Mr Sullivan, director of the Finance department."

The middle aged woman's eyes widened in realisation. Surely, the beautiful Miss before her was not acting or reciting a script. Mr Sullivan had been to the CEO's office that morning.

"Follow me." She said finally.

Grace sighed in relief and followed her.

"I think you can see all these people here? They are all waiting for the CEO. If you are playing some tricks, have a rethink. The consequences would be unbearable, Miss." The older woman said in admonition.

"I am not playing any tricks, Madam. And if Mr Sullivan denies that he relayed such message to me, I am ready to face the consequences." Grace said firmly.

The middle aged woman smiled and opened the door.

Grace quickly glanced around her immediately she got in. The room was very spacious. About ten people where in it, and all had their space. The CEO couldn't be there, could he?

She was about voicing out her question when the woman beckoned on her to follow her. She complied and they walked towards a glass door at the far end of the room. The woman knocked briefly on the door before opening it.

"Good luck." She whispered to Grace and stood aside for her to walk in.

After Grace had gotten into the office, the woman closed the door after her and returned to where her colleagues were.

Meanwhile, Grace was nearly transfixed at the mere sight of the CEO'S main office. It was unbelievably large, and looked more like a comfort zone rather than an office. The walls were painted white, and just a few pictures were on it. Lots of shelves made from expensive woods energetically held thousands of books. At a secluded part of the room, was an unbelievably young man, probably in his mid or late twenties. He couldn't be the CEO who was dreaded by all employees of KAD, could he?

Unconsciously, Grace walked closer to where he was and watched with surprise as he fiddled with a golden pen which he held in his left hand. His right hand was occupied by a mobile phone. It became evident to her that he was on a call. He was handsome! He had excellent features: a straight nose, strong arms and slender hands, a spiky hair, carefully carved chin and more... Grace was having a difficult time trying to figure out how it was possible for a man to be that handsome. And his accent? It was simply like that of the initiator of a language; flawless, clear and unmistakable, like the hitting of metal against metal.

How a man with such features could make both males and females to shiver, Grace had no idea.

The CEO hung up on his call and watched instead, as a beautiful young lady stared at him with disbelief. What was wrong with her? Who even had the impetus of letting her into his office?

He glanced at her. It was evident that she was from the lower class. She wore cheap clothes which even the least of his servants would be most unwilling to put on. She was beautiful, he could not dispute that. But what was her business in his office? Was she a spy sent by one of his numerous enemies?

"Who are you?" He asked at last.

Grace could not help but appreciate the deepness of his voice. He was blessed in all aspects.
