Chapter 29: Grievance Part II

"What?" Duke mumbled.

Then all the memories of Juliet's happy face came rushing to him. He knew that it was impossible for them to be together but when the brutal reality is said bluntly in his face, he was taken aback.

"What what? Don't you know that if you don't leave her, then she will leave this world very soon?" Jessica raised her voice. On this note, Duke sat on the bed with a thud sound. He knew it was evident but why does it sound so gruesome to him? Where is his confidence like he will definitely find a way for Juliet to survive and love her???

He felt defeated as there wasn't an answer to begin with.

Jessica again said, "perhaps you started to believe, that the stone in your chest is actually a heart?"

Duke's face drained all the colours. On seeing that, Jessica started to laugh in a wicked manner.

"Oh my God.... you are such a ..."

Jessica's voice was no longer ringing in his ears, he started recalling that these past few months he felt more like a human than an Angel.

Her fluttering words, her smiling face,her confession, her painful tears, their argument, his jealousy, those heated up intimacy... each and every time he felt his heart beats faster whenever it was a matter regarding Juliet. But how could that be a normal thing...

Duke couldn't process all this information in his head. He grabbed his head with two hands, he felt like he would go crazy. Meanwhile she stopped laughing and with a straight face she asked , " But wait a minute, Do you even have a heart???"

Duke's expression changed like he was struck by thunder. He was speechless. Right what Jessica said was totally right. Duke doesn't have a heart. Rather than that, it's all the same for every Angel. Because their hearts are frozen completely to confront any kind of human emotions. It is a mandate for becoming a devoted being to God. It was made like this so that the strongest weapon of Human, that is Emotion would never waver the work of these holy beings.

While these questions made him restless, something came to his mind repeatedly. Someone in this house knew his identity and even suspected him but he was unable to detect that! All supernatural beings have their own 'sense of being watched' very sharp. It was kind of a reward they received from the almighty while he sealed their heart away forever. Duke had less powers in the human form but he was not completely stripped of it, then how could Jessica never pose a suspicion to him?

All these were making him dizzy while Jessica sat in front of him on a chair, that she dragged from the corner of the room. Duke looked at her and said,

"But how do you know about it? How could you say what will happen to Juliet? How is it possible that you found out I am an Angel?"

Jessica only had a smirk on her face but it looked sadder than a mocked one.

"How did I know? How…..

Is that important right now Duke?"

Her face was once again covered in dark aura. The seriousness was making him uncomfortable. Then she said,

"How I know, Who I am, how could I know, why I find it out,... these all are a matter of the latter... right now it's her life that is at the stake. Once I already lost my loved ones. Not this time I am going to sit still and watch her die. And if for that I must even kill you, I will not stop myself from doing that. Juliet may blame me for this her whole life but if she is dead there is nothing that I can protect. Jason died while protecting her, I will never let her die at any cost. She was like a precious sister to Jason, and as his wife I will do anything that will save her life."

How determined she was Duke could sense that from the hatred in her voice for him. It was a given. Humans always act selfishly. It is not the first time they are ready to kill someone else for their dear one's life. But on the other hand, Duke felt relieved that there was someone willing to go to any extent to protect his Love. Maybe this was the first and last time ever he was getting a threat for his life but he was nonchalant. The last time he came back to that house, he knew that what they both wanted was never possible. Someday he had to leave otherwise she would really die. But still he hoped to find a way to change their fates. But now, when the reality was in front of him like an open book, he could not avoid the consequences of his rushed decision.

While he was completely shaken up, Jessica made it unbearable for him while adding some more words.

"Go away from here. This house, we all, Juliet, no one has anything to do with you. JUST GO AWAY AS FAR AS POSSIBLE."

Her words made Duke go deaf. Where he wanted to find a way together, there he had to leave?

"But, if I go away, Juliet will die from pain and heartbreak. I have already been a cause of her pain once, I don't want t...."

Duke was cut in the middle as she said,

"YOU WILL BE FORGOTTEN. I will make sure She or anyone in this household never remembers you".

A sharp voice ranged in the whole house.

"DUKE!!!"

It's been a long time, sorry for not updating, due to health issues. I will update another chapter in just 3 days. Sorry again and enjoy.
