Alina stood in front of the door waiting for them to enter. She moved her hand to wipe the tear of her face, her hand stopped in the middle of air as noticed blood dripping down from her hand.

Her eyes turned cold as she saw the blood in her hand. This blood reminded her again of her purpose, she almost caved into emotions and that would have messed everything up.

Alina knew that she would have to finish Derek in one swift motion or else people from outside would come to help him. In that case the situation would not be in alina's favor.

Alina had already prepared many plans in case she could not use the force field for some reason. She felt disappointed though, because the force field plan had the most probability for being successful.

The door slowly opened. Alina saw Derek coming in, two steps behind him was Eliza.

Upon seeing alina Derek eyes turned extremely sharp with anger but he was still calm.

"I thought I would be met with a surprise as soon as I enter" Derek smirked at alina. He did see the chair beside the door but he didn't know what it was for.

"Oh dear brother in law, I am hurt to see that you take me for someone like that" alina made a little hurt expression but her eyes betrayed her.

"Where is lily?" Derek directly asked her without even caring for alina a second longer.

Before alina could say anything, Eliza shouted lily's name while running towards lily.

Eliza was near lily with in a second, it was if she disappeared from where she was standing and reappeared near lily.

Derek was totally focused on Eliza and lily while alina was looking at him like a lion looking at its prey.

Alina didn't get any sort guidance in mana manipulation or stuff related to that, so alina was clearly lacking in front of Derek who had been given proper guidance. Whatever alina knew was from the books she had read; even the books available for her were limited.

Alina slowly moved her hand towards her back, from where she took out a dagger. The dagger looked really rusty, even its edges look dull. There were some scribbles on its blade.

Alina slowly supplied mana to the blade; the scribbles on the blade lit up and rearranged themselves. As soon as the scribbles rearranged themselves, the blade got covered with red and black mist. The red mist covered the blade while the black mist came to the edges of the blade, making the edges sharper than ever.

The blade then started to suck alina's mana into itself. Alina was about to move towards Derek when she suddenly stopped after a step.

Derek was looking at alina with a smirk on his face, but alina's eyes were focused on the mana beam coming towards her.

"Sh*t" alina quickly moved her dagger to cut through the beam. The blade easily cut through the beam and the beam disappeared just like that.

But the beam still had an impact on alina, alina's right hand which was holding the dagger was now burned. Her shock with pain but alina still remained calm.

-Tsk- Derek clicked his tongue in annoyance. He didn't thought that alina would be able to block that attack. Even if the attack was not that powerful, it was still enough for someone like alina.

Alina quickly moved towards Derek, pointing her blade towards his neck. Derek had already moved to the side, with a smirk on his face. His eyes were fixed towards something in the direction on Eliza and lily.

Alina face lost all color as soon as she saw what it was. There were two beams directed towards lily and Eliza.

Alina wanted to ignore them and continue on her attack towards Derek. She knew that the attack has to be fake one. She wanted to believe that Derek would not hurt Eliza and lily in their fight so she neglected them. she just need one scratch on Derek and her work would be done but as she saw the two beams coming closer and closer to lily and Eliza, she forgot about hitting Derek.

How could she have forgotten who Derek was actually. Alina moved towards the beams, she only had one thought in her mind that was to protect her family. Alina knew that she won't be able to slash both beams.

Alina had no choice but throw the dagger towards one beam and intercept the other one using her body. Alina had a mana shield around her body but since she was focusing on the controlling the mana in the dagger, the mana shield became considerably weak.

The mana shield shattered on contact with beam, the mana shield had absorbed a lot of amount of energy from the beam but it was still strong enough for alina.

The beam hit alina on her shoulder and the part near her heart. The cells where the beam hit started to degenerate and blood started to ooze out.

Alina was huffing as she tried her best to stand. The dagger had successfully intercepted the other beam.

All of this happened within a few seconds. Eliza was shocked to see what was happening; it pained her to see alina in this condition. Eliza body became stiff and refused to listen to her as she stood there near lily.

Eliza did not even got her senses back, when she saw a dagger flying towards alina. Alina caught the dagger swiftly and she vanished into thin air.

Alina was losing her conscious due to excess blood loss and drainage of mana. She knew that if she didn't act fast, all the things she did till now would become pointless.

Alina summoned her last bit of energy and called the dagger to towards herself. As soon as the dagger reached her hand she used transportation magic.

She reached besides Derek in the next moment. Before Derek or anyone had the time to react, she slashed her dagger towards his arm. But the wound was not even deep; it was just a scratch on his arm.

[Hah! I did it… I did it…] alina feel down, as her blood kept pooling around her. Her dagger fell from her hand in the fall, and went a little farther from her.

Alina eyes were getting hazy; she could not hear anything as she lay on the cold hard floor.

Derek scoffed at alina, he thought that he had not seen a bigger fool than alina; she used her remaining power just for a single scratch on him. The scratch glowed and slowly disappeared from his body.

Derek bent down and picked up the dagger, he was making his way towards alina who was taking her last breaths. But as he moved towards alina, Eliza came in between them. Eliza had hands spread outwards to protect alina.

She was trying to calm Derek down but alina couldn't hear anything they were saying.

[Finally, I can go in peace…] alina eyes were being unfocused as the seconds passed by.
