Chapter 3

[Sorry for the late update, here is the next chapter]

Everything was going exactly the way Chelsea hoped it would be. The little girl was well fed, happy and finally being pampered as a child by people... her family.

And most importantly, she didn't have to listen to her father's constant rambling about how useless they were are to him.

Surely he's content knowing his burdens have been completely lifted from his shoulders, The girl just wished to never see him again.

She ate her dinner quietly as her thoughts drifted to the events that gave her life a total makeover for the worst.

She could only rely on one thing at this point,~ hope. She was so deep in thought that she didn't know when she finished the bowl of custard.

"Oh waw, you finish it really quickly. It seems like that monster has been starving you, maybe even to the brink of death", Sam's voice broke Chelsea out of her train of thoughts.

It was then she noticed the middle aged man kept referring to her dad as 'that monster'. It was as though it was his normal way of addressing him, like he had a personal vendetta against him apart from the issue of him maltreating them.

Chelsea looked up at Mother Maria and noticed that she kept her head down the entire time her uncle spoke. She tugged at the hem of her dress and she finally looked up at the little girl.

"Do you need anything, dear?", she asked with a shaky smile on her face which tried to hide her true feelings. But unfortunately for Maria, Chelsea was a very smart kid.

She noticed the woman's palms which were tightly clenched together figget each time uncle spoke about her dad.

It was like she feared that title that man tagged her dad.

"I want to go to Travis, Sophie seems fine with uncle. Can I leave her with him?" She asked Mother Maria~ more like asked herself~, she smiled sweetly at her and nodded permitting her to leave the room.

"You've grown up too young, my dear. Let adults be adults, I want you to enjoy your childhood while it lasts." Maria said in concern as she noticed how the girl kept asking for permission whenever it concerned anything pertaining to her siblings.

Chelsea smiled at her and said, "I wish I could, but I'll try to in the future. I'll go to Travis now", before going towards the kitchen, washing her bowl in the sink and placed it on the rack.

She then walked to the direction the maid had gone to earlier.

She walked down the small hallway admiring the antiques and collectibles that were obviously well taken care of.

She walked towards a small room at the end of the hallway and then walked into the room and saw Travis sleeping peacefully, a sight I had not seen in months.

She smiled contently as she settled down beside him. There was a clean bandage around his head replacing the old one. He looked clean as though he'd been bathed thoroughly.

He stirred a little in his sleep as she laid beside him and wrapped his arms around her the way he would their mum when she was alive.

Her eyelids felt heavy and soon after, she was fast asleep with her baby brother beside her.

Strange noises in the middle of the night rung into her ears as and she grudgingly woke up from a peaceful slumber.

She got off the bed and walked towards the focus of the sounds, it was her Sam and Maria's room.

"... what's wrong with you, so what if we don't have children. Is that solely my fault!", she heard Maria despaired voice yell out from the other side and Sophie began to cry.

Her wailing knocked every ounce of sleep from Chelsea's eyes and she immediately rushed into the room startling Sam.

Maria was too busy sobbing at a corner to even notice my presence in the room.

"Shhh... don't cry Soph, I'll take you away from the noises. Sleep." And with that, Sophie went back to sleep as Chelsea cradled her in her small arms.

Before leaving the room, the little girl glared at the couple with a 'how irresponsible' gaze as they stared at her with shocked expression on their faces.

She walked out of the room angrily literally slamming the door behind her. She wasn't so young that she didn't understand what they were quarreling about, and she also realised that the only reason they were nice to them was because they craved for children of their own.

Chelsea walked back to my room and gently placed Sophie in between Travis and herself in fear of her rolling of the edge of the bed in her sleep. She'd learnt this from her mum as she watched her single handedly take care of baby Sophia with such expert handling.

From the cooking to childcare and parenting, she was an absolute wonder woman. She would also condone her father's constant complaints about how stressful his work days went and also handled the management of the mansion.

Chelsea always admired her dedicated spirit and the time helping her dad with his work when he was too tagged out.

And to top it all of, she was a working woman who made a fortune after inheriting my late grand father's company and scaling it to new heights until it was the most successful entertainment company in just two years.

She put her family first but knew where to draw the line. If she was ever she was treated unjustly, she wouldn't hesitate to put that person in their place and that included my father.

Chelsea tucked Sophie in but she refused to fall asleep the minute she left her, she cried and even woke Travis at some point.

"Susu, let brother Travis sleep My head is aching from all your wailing. Argh, I think I'm gonna die!" Travis yelled dramatically a tiny hint of frustration in his seren tone and I could help but giggle at his exaggerated reaction.

"Leave Susu, Travis sleep! Leave Susu!" Sophia yelled at Travis who was a little taken aback. Sophie was never one to speak to many words or even yell at anyone except she sensed bad intent from a person, but she just yelled at Travis so mercilessly.

Travis scoffed and went to bed while Chelsea chided Sophie for her uncalled for reaction.

"I don't like Uncle, he make Mama scare. I want to go back to daddy!" She muttered depressed and her heart sank .

She tucked her in and after some time, she too managed to sleep.
