8 Chapter 7: Job Quest

A/N: Name is now Nova Chronos, since it absolutely destroyed the poll. Not gonna edit the name from chapters b4 this tho, coz i cba. : )

Nova and Erza were having a stare down. Meanwhile, Sinbad the village chief was staring at these two like he was watching a WWE fight.

"Alright, that's enough you two, you guys have a job to do, remember?" He decided to stop watching and interrupt and stop their mental fight.

"Right, we must go now" Erza said calmly. The three stood up and left the house, then village, and walked a few hundred metres away from the village until they ended up in a forest.

"Follow me" The village chief took the lead with Nova and Erza following from behind.

As they were walking through the forest, Erza had already requipped a sword into her hand while still remaining in her Heart Kreuz armour (The one we always see her wear).

Nova, on the other hand, was simply holding on the handle of his katana on his right waist, waiting and ready for any monsters to attack from any angle.

Not that he needed to, since he expected nothing in this forest to actually be able to injure him much, since this was only an A class quest, and he still has his [Return To Zero] spell.

(A/N: When a move is used from mc, I'll be using [*]. None of mc screaming out the names, unless he says it to sound intimidating, like sung drip woo saying "arise" and we all imagine him saying it with a deep ass voice)

Sinbad, the village chief, was still carrying his sword and hadn't used his Take Over magic yet.

*Rustle* *Rustle*

The three looked over in the direction of the rustling and waited patiently, ready for anything to hop out of the bush.

*Rustle*

"..."

*Rustle*

"..." The rustling grew louder and closer every second. Erza and Sinbad got into a stance with their swords, while Nova was still chilling.

*Rustle* Something finally appeared out of the bush, it was a large, muscular reptilian beast with spiked scales protruding throughout its body, it also appears to have a beak-like visor over its head and fur mane.

"A spiked Lizardman.." Erza muttered.

The lizardman jumped at Erza with a punch reeled back. The spiked fist and sharp sword connected with one another and released a loud screeching sound.

The two were at a stalemate for a few seconds, before they both jumped back about 5 metres away from each other.

'...' Nova was spectating and analysing the battle, not impressed with much currently.

After 30 seconds, Erza beat the Lizardman with her swordsmanship skills quite easily.

'Oh right, she must've been simply analysing and measuring its strength with the first bout' Nova thought.

(A/N: I know it may seem like Erza is "weak" right now, but honestly, Fairy Tail power scaling is so fucked and confusing I don't even know at this point, I'm just gonna try and use the most logic I can when it comes to power scaling in this ff)

Suddenly, the lizardman let out a loud screech, causing Sinbad, Erza and Nova to cover their ears.

*Rustle* x A lot

The three were surrounded by 50 lizardmen, spiked and crocodile lizardmen, and got in a basic triangle formation.

Erza requipped into a different armour. The upper part of this armour only consists of a small, revealing breastplate that extends along her hips, composed of feather-shaped plates pointing upwards with a large metal flower on the front, leaving the tops of her breasts exposed, as well as her stomach. Her biceps are covered by metal straps and her very large plated gauntlets sport feather-shaped plates at the edges. (wiki)

This was her Heaven's wheel armour.

Sinbad used his Take Over Magic. He took on the appearance of a dragon and received two horns and a jewel on his forehead and an elaborate necklace along with blue scale-like armour over parts of his body and a long tail. The sword he carried with him transformed, to a guard around the hilt similar to that of a claw with blue scales.

Nova unsheathed his God Katana, created by Chronos, and was ready to use his Gravity Magic, and in a dire situation if it managed to happen, his Time Magic.

"Dance, my swords!" Erza summoned many swords and shouted this chant, causing the swords then to spin rapidly around her and send them flying towards 10ish lizardmen in a disc formation.

On impact, the swords separated and flew in all directions, causing 14 lizardmen to die instantly.

"Bararaq" Sinbad muttered, summoning lightning from his sword to strike 15 lizardmen, also killing them instantly.

29 dead, 21 left

[King's Blue], Nova created 2 small blue orbs on his hands and threw it in-between the remaining lizardmen, when the orbs grew closer to the lizardmen, they had a force pulling them right to the blue orb.

After all the lizardmen were forced in one place, Nova used [Dimension Slash: Nerfed], which is where he channels his gravity magic to his sword and slashes horizontally at his opponents. At its full power, it can cut through space and almost any magic. However, when purposely nerfed, it's purely just a horizontal slash which just cleanly slices the opponents in half.

(A/N: Still need Gravity Magic, Time Magic, and Sword Magic, i guess at this point, spell recommendations.

Nerfed Version: Just think about Yami's Dimension Slash, but without all the "slicing through space", it just slices opponents in half if they're not durable enough to survive at a long range.

Full Version: Yami's Dimension Slash, but is way stronger because it's gravity magic, instead of dark magic.)

Sinbad and Erza looked at Nova in shock, with their mouths slightly open and eyes wide.

He looked back at them and smiled, "You should close your mouths, before any flies fly in there" he said sarcastically.

"Wow..." Sinbad exclaimed. 'Finally... a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary!' All his life, Sinbad believed he was one of the strongest mages in this world, so he had no pleasure in fighting anybody he had come across as he had always won with ease. The only reason he gave out this job is because he didn't want to do it himself

But after feeling Nova's strength when they first met, he was intrigued, but after seeing some of his strength for himself, he knew he was right.

Erza walked up to Nova with a serious expression.

"You.. you're the strongest member in your guild, right?" She asked, worried for the fact that there may be others as strong as Nova if not stronger than him in his guild. 'How has Sabertooth managed to stay this low for so long with someone like him, this boy could definitely beat most of Fairy Tail singlehandedly..'

Although she had a lot of pride in being a Fairy Tail member, and wanted to believe that their guild was the strongest, she wasn't stupid enough to not see and accept when a mage is stronger than people in the guild she's in.

(A/N: Personality may be a bit iffy, but oh well, this isn't gonna be a 10/10 fanfic anyway, I'm just writing these for fun, I don't care about getting everything 100% right)

"Yeah, I'm the strongest in the guild, then the guild master is second in strength, then no offense to the members in my guild, they're not really much at all" He replied

"Wait, if you're the strongest, how come you're not the guild master?" Erza asking in surprise

"Being guild master is too much of a hassle, a lot of paperwork. and some other things. The only good thing about it is no one in the guild can go against you, but I already have that kind of position in the guild" He answered.

From behind Erza and Nova, they could feel a very large battle aura. Nova turned around to see Sinbad smiling and letting out a lot of mana.

"Hey Nova..." Sinbad said slowly

"Yeah?"

"How about a fight? You and me, no holding back?"
