27 27. Demonic Dagger

Ben has returned to his guild with the 2 serpent carcasses, and they attract his guild mates' attention.

"Ben-boy, why're you taking these things here?"-Roubaul

"Well, they're rather strong, so I think you can make magic items from them. They also have a lot of meat, so maybe we can eat them."-Ben

"That's.... Sigh, whatever. You guys, dismantle those snakes!"-Roubaul

""Yes.""-Guild members

"They're serpents."-Ben

"It's the same thing."-Roubaul

Roubaul leaves the area and goes to the guild building. Ben follows the old man with Wendy, Bella, & Carla.

Ben then gives the job completion letter to Roubaul as proof of his finished job. Ben also narrates what happened in his job, in detail to Roubaul.

"The female serpent transforms when it gets angry? Hmm, I never know this type of serpent is capable of that."-Roubaul

"I also found a strange dagger in the cave. It has an ominous aura, so it attracted my attention. I couldn't identify it, so I bring it back for you to check."-Ben takes out the dagger that he wrapped with a towel.

"Hmm, it certainly has an ominous aura."-Roubaul

Roubaul takes the dagger with his bare hand. He flows his magic power into the dagger to identify it.

"Hmm, it's used to seal something with strong malicious power."-Roubaul

"Did you know what it is?"-Ben

"Possibly a demon. I don't know for sure, it can be other magical creature too."-Roubaul

"What should we do then?"-Ben

"I will strengthen the seal again. This seal has been cracked by something inside it."-Roubaul

The crack is the reason for the ominous aura. Roubaul assumes that the leaking aura affected the female serpent. It's the reason why she transforms and gets stronger when she's angry.

"So it can affect something that's exposed to its aura. It must be very strong."-Ben

"Maybe it will succeed to break out in a few months if it's left like that. The strengthened seal will hold for a few years before it will break completely."-Roubaul

"Can't you make the seal hold for a longer time?"-Ben

"I can't, I'm not a seal master. The best I can do is strengthen the seal. The only way to stop it is either by asking a strong seal master's help or kill the thing inside it. Both are very hard to do."-Roubaul

"How long will it break?"-Ben

"At least 4 years, and at most 5 years."-Roubaul

"That's enough, I will prepare myself for that time."-Ben

"You want to fight it? Ben-boy, why don't you let me give this to my friends, so they can handle it. Or maybe you can give this to the magic council, no need for the hassle."-Roubaul

"No, I will handle it. I have a feeling that this will be useful to me."-Ben

Ben already has something in thought when Roubaul said that it's a demon. With such malicious power, the demon should have curse power. If he fights the demon and scans the curse power, he'll be able to learn it too.

It's not just that though. If he can take the demon's power, he'll become a devil slayer. It might help with his organization problem if his hypothesis is correct.

If he becomes a devil slayer, then he should gain a Demon Seed. It will suppress his dragon seed from growing if he manages it well. It's his last resort to stop his dragon seed's growth and turn him into a dragon.

'If this doesn't work, then I will need to find God Seed too. God is stronger than Dragon, and Dragon is stronger than Demon. If a demon can't stop a dragon, then a god will do.'-Ben

Ben theorized that God = Dragon + Demon. So if he has all 3 seeds, they will suppress each other's power. Ben hopes it can neutralize the effect of the seeds.

A.I. Chip has warned him that doing this might have a bad effect instead of helping him, but he will gamble it. Besides, it's his last resort, he will still search for other cures that won't have a bad effect on him.

'If I can find a dragon, then I'll try to make them reside in my body, peacefully or forcefully. But the possibility is very small, so this is my last resort.'-Ben

Ben stop his thought and look at Roubaul again.

"Trust me, Gramps, I have thought of it carefully."-Ben

"I don't know why you're so adamant on this, but I will trust you. Still, if I deem that you're not ready when the time comes, I won't let you do it."-Roubaul

"Fine."-Ben

"Good, I will keep this dagger with me and keep it safe."-Roubaul

After he makes a deal with Roubaul, Ben leaves the building and goes to his house. He needs to rest after such a long day. He will leave the future to his future self, he just needs to prepare himself now.

The next day, Ben continues his research on raising his magic's temperature. Currently, he can only do it by putting more MP on his magic. So now, he needs to increase his mastery. It will allow him to raise the temperature with less MP than now.

"Hmm, I need some more books about temperature. Guess I'll go to a town."-Ben

Ben decides to go to a town, and he takes the girls with him. They go to Oshibana Town, where they take the delivery job. They haven't explored that town, so this is a good chance.

They arrive in half an hour, and they walk around the town on foot. They visit every place that they find interesting. Still, their priority is to buy books, so they visit almost every bookstore they find.

"Hmm, let's just buy everything. I have money after all."-Ben

Ben decided to buy every book, even novels, and magazines. He also buys all the magic books that he hasn't collected. Everyone in the village needs to be literate themselves, and they also need some entertainment.

"Ben nii-san, how will we carry all these books?"-Wendy

"Put them in a bag?"-Ben is unsure.

"You haven't thought of it, aren't you?"-Carla

"No."-Ben

"Hihihi, clumsy Ben."-Bella

"No, he's an idiot."-Carla

Ben finally buys a big cart to place all the books. His shopping spree makes all book store owners in the town cheer. Although he just buys 1 copy of each book, the number is still astronomical.

After they finished their exploration and shopping, Ben tied the cart behind his car. Then they go home because it's afternoon already now.

After they arrive in the village, Ben places all the books in the library. Yes, now they have a real library, not just Roubaul randomly takes a book out of nowhere. They use an empty building for the library since Ben starts to buy many books.

The library is just used for magic & science books. As for entertainment books, Ben places them in the guild building, so everyone can have access to it.

"Ben-boy, what are these books?"-Roubaul

"They're books for entertainment & news of the outside world. Novels, magazines, newspapers, etc."-Ben

Roubaul takes a magazine and reads through the book. At first, he doesn't show any reaction, but when he opens the pages with girls in the bikini, he starts to get absorbed in the book.

Ben hears Roubaul giggle a little, so he looks at the old man. He sees Roubaul smiling suspiciously & giggles like a crazy guy. So Ben checks what Roubaul read, and it makes him have a dark expression.

Roubaul feels Ben's gaze and turns to Ben. He sees Ben have a disgusted expression and realize what he just did.

"Perverted old man."-Ben

"W-what?! N-n-no, i-i just, I'm just curious on today's fashion, that's it."-Roubaul tries to defend himself.

Ben ignores Roubaul and leaves the guild building. It's not that Ben can't understand Roubaul's feeling. He's fine with that, he is a man too. But that perverted face & giggle is really a nono.

"I need to make sure to protect Wendy from that old man in the future."-Ben
