Chapter 33: Second Trade War… (1)

~Third POV~

[March, X688]

2 years have passed since Mavis and Rou are both 15 years old of age as of the date of July X868 when The Second Trade War has officially begun.

In the beginning, it was when back then, feudal lords were fighting brutal battles over the right to control trade routes.

That year of X686 was the start of the Second Trade War of the Caravan.

Eventually into the year of February, X688 the Wizard Guilds signed up as mercenaries, and now wizards were caught up in the war, too…

Thus eventually the Fairy Tail Guild was forcibly dragged into this madness occurring with everyone soon to fight for their rights to trade.

A 15-year-old developed Mavis appears before the army of soldiers as her hand is adjusted at the chin seeing the formation before finally responding with her soldiers, "Pull your left flank back."

The Captain Knight in question was outraged by Mavis's sudden choice of action as he cried what was wrong with her, "Wh—what! What is this little girl talking about?! The enemy lines are just beginning to crumble! Now is when we press the attack! I don't care if you are a Wizard! Know your place!!"

Mavis merely points her finger at the map pointing out facts if she were her enemy as calmly as she strategizes the enemy's expectations, "If I were the enemy, I'd have reinforcements hidden here, behind this hill. I'd try to lure our forces to the hill, and then I'd strike. I'd also bring in more forces to the west and make my main push there."

The soldiers working for their feudal lords pale at Mavis's plans as the enemy as she turns her attention to the soldiers, "I can think of 49 effective strategies to counter that… but first, the left flank needs to be pulled back! Have them join up in formation with the central forces and watch carefully how the enemies react."

An aged-up Yuri expresses a sly grin seeing their Guild Master giving strategies complementing her skill, "Here she goes again! Our little princess without her prince charming…"

Precht in black armor raised an eyebrow at Yuri's remark with his own with a bemused sly grin on his, "What princess is at home on a battlefield? Don't let her prince charming hear that you know Yuri."

Warrod wearing a summer vacation shit with his chest exposed grinned at their antics, "But her analysis skills are really something else! Don't let Rou hear you Yuri otherwise we might have to send you to the recovery tent before even having the chance to fight!!"

"How about sending you both?"

"Ack!"

Warrod suddenly jumped up surprise with Rou greeting him from behind as he grew a tick mark as he continues, "You know I can hear your guys talks right?"

Warrod, Precht, and Yuri grin at this but only Warrod and Yuri replied, "Yup! But it's true though?!"

*BAM*

The two of them had their heads hit as smoke trailed off Rou's fist as they rub their head twisting his hand, "Just because it's true doesn't mean I'll allow you to flirt with her damn it!!!!!"

Like that, the two got up yelling dramatically at Rou words, "Flirt with her who would!"

Arguing right back with his fist raised threateningly at the duo, "Who the hell says she isn't flirtable!! You are saying she's not cute!!!"

"WHY YOU!"

"I OUGHT OF—"

Precht could only sigh at the three antics getting into a brawl and rolling his eyes at them, "Sigh… save the brawling for the guild you three. We have a war to fight."

Mavis just sighs but smiles at their antics despite the chaos happening shaking her head at the reason for agreeing to join, 'Sigh… I swear my Guild really is something to be proud of. And it really does please me that Rou defends me. He so sweet and considerate.'

Mavis soon smacks her hands together getting her head back in the game when she heard Yuri asking a question after the three settled their disputes, "Ahem… So? When will the Wizard Division see some action?"

Replying instantly to Yuri's question she orders her Fairy Tail members Wizard Unit participating in this Quest what to do, "Your job will be to stop the enemy's Wizard. I'd say there's an 85% chance of reinforcements coming in from the West. So careful out there!"

At this Mavis Fairy Tail members all cried out in cheers hyped up for the battle ahead of them.

"Right! Now we get to have some fun!!"

"Hm!!"

"Okay, ya jerks! Ready to roll?!!"

"YEAAAHHH!!!!"

Mavis feeling pumped up entrust her guild members to do their part, "Very well… I believe in each of you! Don't fail Fairy Tail!"

The Knight Captain was surprised to hear Mavis the one he looked down on because she was a kid was actually the Guild Master of a Wizard Guild, "You mean that little girl is the Fairy Tail's Master?!"

And soon the following scuffle involving Mavis Wizard Unit soon eliminated the other feudal lord's forces quickly and efficiently through her careful planning that led, her own members to victory surprising the soldiers nearby and Captain.

All it took was a few hours before everyone completed their battle against the enemy forces with some wounded or worse.

Fortunately, Rou works with the medic tents with his Lost Magic of Healing Magic to help ease the soldier's pain and fix up any weapons along with taking Wizard Prisoners as well as secretly taking down enemies to create Philosopher Stone and other Wizards Magic with his Archive Magic.

The battlefield was soon littered with corpses of their enemies making Mavis frown at the loss of life for this war…

"We won!!!"

"And look at how much money we made!!!"

"Go bring every bottle of wine we've got!!"

"Cheers!!"

Returning back to Fairy Tail Guild Mavis sits down at the barkeep's table viewing her members happily enjoying their victory from the earlier battle as she frowns at the scene.

Yuri leaning on the barkeep's table looks at her gloomy expression prompting her to question the issue, "What's the matter, Mavis? Aren't you happy we won the battle?"

Mavis sighs at this as she waves her legs back and forth finally replying to Yuri in a defeated tone, "I was just wondering how many lives would be lost on that battlefield today. How long must this war go on? I want to go back to adventuring…"

As she frowns Yuri shrugs at this before finally looking around before talking to Mavis after taking a drink of Ale Mug in his hand, "Ah… Say Mavis do you know where your boyfriend is? He should be enjoying the victory with everyone so any idea?"

As he says this Mavis blinks a bit before she sighs giving Yuri a heads up leaving in a bit in a defeated tone but smiling at him as she vanishes, "Sigh… Yuri, I'll be back I need to check up with Rou. He should be… I need my boyfriend's encouragement!!"

*Pop*

With a popping sound, Yuri smiles taking a drink of his Ale Mug and replying to no one as he looks up at the guild ceiling, "Ah! At the very least Mavis has her prince charming keeping her calm. Guess that early reward of spatial Teleportation Magic was worth it to her. Now… I wonder if I can get any lucky gal to love me like that bastard with his princess."

Situated in the Kingdom of Fiore, it lies on the southern coast of the country in Magnolia Town on the top of a small hill, near mountains, and in a woody area is a wooden home away from anyone going nearby.

The building is located on top of a small hill and can be reached via a staircase composed of large, flat stones, and flanked by two lines of similarly flat rocks.

Two rough pillars of stone are located before the stairs, with the one on its right, the taller, having a small doll sitting near its top.

The stairs are flanked by large rocks and by several small bushes; on the left sits a sign reading Fairy Tail Alchemist, together with the guild's symbol.

Behind the home's building seems to be a forest, and the headquarters is surrounded by several palms, with a pair of open-air sheds sitting on its left.

*Thud*

Landing down on the roof of his home as Rou lifted himself up to the sky leaving, he stares at the night shining with millions of lights of stars as he talks to himself, "War huh… it's never really a pretty thing. Even in this world or the previous humans will always be greedy creatures at the end of the day. Sigh…"

Sensing someone around the air via his Magic Senses he became alerted as stands while smiling as he recognizes the Magic Power landing on his roof he shouts out loud, "You can come out little Fairy! This mean old Spriggan isn't gonna bite ya know! Rawr…!"

"Hahaha!"

Laughing out loud as Mavis reappears seemingly out of nowhere using her Illusion Magic carrying a basket of food as she replies, "You know usually it would be the other way, around right? Back then when we were kids you would leave the basket of items when I called you the Gift Man right?"

Recalling the memory as Mavis places the basket and sitting down as Rou smiles remembering the good old days, "Hahaha… Yeah… I remember those times. Back then everything was so simple, right? Man, those times were really fun."

Mavis nods briefly placing her legs down next to him and spreading her toes as Rou wonders why she doesn't wear shoes curiously, "Say, Mavis? I always wondered why you're always barefooted. No shoes or anything any reason why?"

Curling her toes as Rou takes a piece of food out of the basket revealing to be a fruit Mavis gently smiles looking at her feet and replying, "Well… originally it was because of the words of someone in the past that hurt me… but that life is already long gone. But if anything, it would be the reason I want to feel free."

Blinking confused Mavis looks up at the sky clouds moving by the wind as it rushes past her hair flowing in the wind as she continues, "I want to feel free after everything that has happened. Everything from the good to the bad I want to feel it all to witness everything free as the wind."

Smiling at her answer taking a bite of the fruit as Rou replies to Mavis's answer contently listening why, "Sounds like a good reason as any to hear that. And here I just thought you had a kink for it always –Ack!"

*Bam*

The feeling of pain coursed through him as he felt Mavis kick him in the sides for such a perverted remark pouting angrily, "Ah! Out of all the reasons it had to be perverted one's!! Damn it!! Rou how did I fall for such a degenerate like yourself!"

Laughing at Mavis's reply as Rou tries to recover from the blow hearing her response to such a question, "Hahaha—Ow! Maybe it was the other way around? Maybe I simply fall under your spell because of how kind you are to others or how beautiful you really are."

Mavis merely turns around away from Rou's direction, but the noticeable blush of her expression is a dead giveaway feeling happy about the compliments that he believes she has for him.

This kind of situation usually happens when the two meet like this to fully express themselves to only each other with no one in the world watching.

The same feeling they had as they were kids to teens always talking and complimenting each other through harsh times remembering why they live and why they continue to do so for each other sake.

Things like normalcy or kindness to each other are times they live best for regardless of what the current state of the world they live in as the bond they formed together would always be their connection to one another.

Perhaps something more as the ages the two soon get closer to falling in love as the two remained silent stargazing for the night enjoying their moment.

*Shiii*

Unaware between the two small golden particles shine on the two indicating the use of True Magic shines the night sky as the two mistakes it for stars...
