9 Chapter 9: New Totems (1)

Since every one wanted or say so in the comments for the MC to wield a pole arm. I spun a wheel of every pole arm weapon the I know of, like glaive, guandao, spear, pike, scythe, halberd, etch. Anyway I spun the wheel and landed on Spear so the MC is gonna use a Spear for his close combat in the future.

*November 16, Year 771*

* Morning *

After finishing my morning routine I returned to my room to think about some things. After I returned to my room, I sat down on the bed as I think.' Now that I have 50,000 Jewels in my hand I'm still short of renting an apartment.' ( In the anime Lucy's apartment rent is 70,000 jewels per month, so I assume that renting an apartment is around 65,000 to 70,000 jewels.)

And I noticed that when I'm fighting with the wolves I lack close combat weapons to protect myself from the enemies. I decided on having a polearm as my close combat weapon as they say " one inch longer is one inch stronger."

As I sat there I thought that the seith magic [ Human Possession] can maybe used in making puppets from the bodies of the dead like necromancy. But I quickly cancelled that thought out as I will be branded as a dark wizard if I did something like that.

After that I thought about sentry totems, sentry totems function like formation flags in cultivation novels. The difference is sentry totems can work on it's own or with other sentry totems, while formations needs many formation flags to take effect.

I decided to create a sentry totem after minutes of thinking about it. After I finished my thoughts I went out of the Inn to buy some fences to keep the animals in the Mage's Sanctuary from running around.

After walking around some time through the city I found a wood workshop and bought fences and fence gates at the shops. After I've got the fences and fence gates I put them in the Mage's Sanctuary.

After buying what I need I went back to the Inn where I'm staying at. After eating dinner, I went to my room and entered Mage's Sanctuary where I gathered up the chickens and rabbits then fenced them up.

After that I thought that It's time to replace my totems with better ones. I walk to the trees where I chopped one normal tree and chopped it in proportion with my totems which is 1 meter tall and 1 meter in width.

I pulled the corpses of the wolves that I've killed and drained their blood on five barrels where the biggest being the barrel of the Alpha wolf. In my memories there is a way to make the totems I make to become stronger.

In it is that I use the blood, bones and the internal organs of the creatures that I've killed, to temper the wood carved in the shape of the creatures head, then sealing the corresponding creature's soul into it.

After draining the blood I then pulled out the bones and internal organs of the wolves and put it in the barrels one by one. Good thing I'm doing it in the Mage's Sanctuary or I will be branded as a dark wizard right away.

After doing all of that I started to practice carving the heads of the wolves, after four days I'm finally confident in making the let's just call it Wolf pack totems. After getting a satisfying rest at the bed I woke up refreshed and immediately started preparing for the refining.

After taking deep breaths I've started to carve on the iron wood, and sadly I failed two times due the difference in the hardness of Iron wood and normal wood. After I'm done I put the finished product in front of me and nodded in appreciation.

The wolf heads look like a life-like silver wolf heads, after looking at my masterpieces some more I put them inside the barrels where I sealed the barrels lids.' I need to wait for one month to finished the tempering of the totems, which in outside is just 15 days since 1 day outside is 2 days inside Mage's sanctuary.'

After I went out I slept after eating lunch as it was tiring to carve on things like iron wood.

* December 6, Year 771 *

* Evening *

This past two weeks nothing much special happened other than going to another job, and finally renting an apartment. The apartment is in the same streets as where Lucy lived in the anime. I excitedly went back to my apartment.

After making sure that the door is physically and magically locked, I immediately went to Mage's sanctuary to check on the wolf pack totems. As I took off the lids on them I saw that the blood in it was already empty and only some dried red spots just remain of the blood and ashes for the other stuff in there.

As I pulled out the wolf pack totems, Seeing that they are blood red I washed them first. After washing them with water, I saw 5 brown wolf heads in front of me. Even though they are only totems they have fierceness all over their brown body.

The wolf totems look like the heads of the wolves that I defeated. After suppressing my excitement I quickly took out 5 lamps with one having cracks on it. The one lamp that had cracks on it is the lamp where the Alpha wolf soul is sealed.

After I took out the souls in it and sealed it in their respective souls the totems which only has fierceness seems to suddenly came to life.

The wolf heads now have not only fierceness in their auras, the adding of the souls added a blood thirsty aura on them. The one thing that made it even more terrifying is that the wolf heads have a reddish glow on where their eyes should be.

I cannot suppress my excitement anymore as I gazed on the totems, I yelled with happiness in my head. After refining these wolf pack totems with addition to my sentry totem that I've refined, while waiting for the wolves to finished tempering.

I should have now the power of a peak F-rank mage, with this new power I can now take on harder jobs and get stronger materials for my totems. Maybe even challenging a elemental magical creature.
