"Are you really here?" Gray suddenly asked.

"Of course, there are so many dark mages up there, and I'm very scared," Everit shrugged.

Lucy remained silent. It was a risky move to speak, as it might provoke an attack.

The air cannon suddenly discharged.

Lucy, ever vigilant, narrowly evaded the attack. Seizing the opportunity, she swiftly closed the distance and confronted the mage.

With a flourish of her golden key, she commanded, "Open, Taurus Gate! Taurus!"

"Moo--"

Taurus, wielding a massive axe, understood Lucy's peril and wasted no time, delivering a powerful strike with his weapon.

"What?!"

The enemy clearly didn't anticipate Lucy's courage and was caught off guard! Taurus possessed formidable power, launching a sudden attack at such close range. They couldn't evade it, and each fell to the ground, struck down by his axe!

"Miss Lucy, I won't allow them to harm your delicate frame!"

Having vanquished their foes, Taurus regarded Lucy with earnest eyes.

"Thank you, Taurus," Lucy said, looking at him with a wearied expression.

Just as she breathed a sigh of relief, a smug voice reached her ears. "Hey, hey, hey, it's not wise to let your guard down like that."

Lucy was startled, but it was too late to evade.

Her shoulder took a mighty blow from a colossal hammer, causing Lucy to stagger forward.

And there are more enemies!

Lucy swiftly rose to her feet, though her body wavered. Clutching her injured shoulder, she was compelled to lean against the wall for support.

The assailant wielded a wooden hammer that fluctuated in size.

"Lucy, are you alright?" Happy flew over in a panic.

Lucy's magical reserves were depleted, and the sneak attacker seemed formidable.

"Happy, go find Natsu. I'll keep him occupied!"

The pain in her shoulder threatened tears, yet Lucy, who always remained resolute in dire circumstances, despite her magic being drained, steadfastly chose to shield Happy by confronting the rear threat.

"No, you can't keep fighting. You'll get yourself killed!"

Happy shouted anxiously, "Everit, you scoundrel, why aren't you doing anything?!"

Lucy suddenly recalled what Everit had given to her! She retrieved the card, recalling Everit's special instructions.

Enduring the pain, she summoned the last remnants of her strength.

Her legs spread apart, her left hand holding the card high, and her right hand open to cover her face.

"It's the card given by Everit!" Happy also remembered it and shouted excitedly.

But Lucy yelled over him.

"I am the wielder of dark flames. You fool, be consumed by the black flames!"

After uttering the incantation, Lucy and Happy awaited eagerly for the foe's defeat, their faces filled with anticipation.

Observing Lucy's confident and serious demeanor, the enemy promptly enlarged his wooden hammer, his eyes scanning the surroundings with great vigilance.

Lucy and Happy's expressions shifted.

"Hahaha, I thought there was some extraordinary magic, but it appears to be nothing!" The enemy laughed as he approached with his wooden hammer.

Lucy and Happy were in utter panic.

Didn't Miss Mirajane say that Everit could be relied upon in critical moments?!

"Everit!" Happy shouted. "If you don't show up, I won't go fishing with you ever again! You'll go fishing alone for eternity!"

"Happy, that's quite an exaggeration. I only occasionally go fishing and you don't want to accompany me," Everit's voice came from behind the enemy, and then Lucy and Happy witnessed the enemy fall without resistance.

Everit approached them, saying, "This incident teaches us that on the battlefield, we mustn't underestimate our enemies just because we've defeated them."

"Lucy, you have three bottles of potions in your pocket. The orange one is for external application, the red one should be for internal appliation, and the blue one replenishes magical power."

"Huh?" Lucy touched her pocket and pulled out three bottles of potions, looking puzzled. It was then that she recalled Everit's fondness for magic tricks.

"Thank you," Lucy said gratefully, then asked, "You were here all along, weren't you?"

"Not exactly. I arrived at the most opportune moment."

"The most opportune?" Lucy wondered.

"Yeah."

Everit retrieved a camera, reversed the technique, and played it back.

The image was projected into the air.

In the three-dimensional and restored picture -

Lucy struck a cool and confident pose, her expression serious and focused, as though casting a potent spell, but...

"I am the wielder of dark flames, you foolish one. I shall engulf you in the darkness." Devour them all!"

"!!!"

Huh?!?!

Lucy's mind went blank, then her blood rushed from her neck to the top of her head. Her face turned crimson within seconds, her ears almost bleeding from embarrassment!

"Ah?" Happy covered his mouth, smiling. "Does Lucy enjoy this kind of role play?"

"No!" Lucy collapsed and exclaimed. She still couldn't comprehend. She was completely caught off guard by Everit. What a joke!

"Delete it immediately!"

She lunged at Everit, but missed.

"I'm off to see Erza," Everit's figure vanished.

"Ah -"

Lucy slumped on the ground, her arms hanging limply, gazing up at the sky, her eyes devoid of their usual sparkle. After a few moments of silence, she let out a broken laugh, "hehehe".

She finally understood what Mirajane meant.

"Lucy, be cautious with Everit on this mission!"

"Though he's a dependable ally in times of peril!"

"But when danger's absent, he poses the greatest threat!"
