19 Chapter 19 : Retreat!!

Everit rarely engages in close-range combat with others. It could be said that he lacks experience in this area!

This isn't a secret. The main reason is his lack of a golden finger and limited energy.

The situation is dire.

Everit had no choice but to seek assistance from the sidelines.

'Shua'

Without any visible movement, it seemed the same as when Lucy was being pulled back by him.

Everit also felt his neck tighten as his cloak was pulled, dragging him back and narrowly avoiding Ward's fatal grasp!

Everit vanished once more, dodging the enemy's pursuit and attacks.

Ward's gaze searched for him, seemingly in vain.

So Ward turned to his brother, wondering why he hadn't reported this time.

Reed was in shock, contemplating at that moment.

Behind the distant stone, his three eyes widened!

In that instant, he caught sight of it!

Though faint, there was indeed a concealed figure who had saved that deceitful magician!

"Huh..."

He exhaled in shock, his heart filled with complex emotions, including surprise, admiration, and a great deal of fear.

What a cunning trickster!

His magic is deceitful!

His cane, too, is deceptive, luring people into lowering their guard before revealing a sharp weapon!

Even though he clearly had an accomplice, he continued to feign solitude and kept his helper concealed in the shadows!

Yes!

Reed recalled encountering this deceitful magician once on the street.

At that time, the opponent was off guard, so he didn't utilize multiple illusions.

Thus, he could discern an incongruity in the slightly distorted space next to this deceitful magician at a glance.

But back then, he didn't dwell on it, assuming it was an application of space magic.

Magic is magic, not trickery. He had wanted to expose it at the time.

However, looking back now, it was fortunate that it wasn't revealed then!

Otherwise, they wouldn't have a barrier to ensnare this individual, and Gavin wouldn't be present. If they truly angered this formidable individual, even the slightest slip-up could spell death for them all!

As for the so-called magic trick - turning cards into ice cream.

In reality, he merely handed the card to his invisible assistant, who then passed him the ice cream!

This is!

The truth behind that deceitful magician!

Reed pieced together all the clues!

Though deeply frightened.

It's certainly not too late to realize it now!

Reed shouted.

"It's two people!!!"

"There is another person hiding in the dark!"

"Gavin, those are all illusions!"

"There is no time for you to kneel there and rest now!"

"It is no longer the time for you to be willful!"

"Hurry up and attack them with Ward!"

Reed's chest heaved violently.

Them!

About to defeat one of the most powerful trickster wizards in the world!

Although they were enemies, at this moment, Reed was deeply impressed by Everit's strategy!

How terrible! It's so scary to think about it!

In other words, he has the means to observe the other party.

Otherwise, he could not imagine at all what kind of strong person it would take to ensure that he would not be tortured and killed by this person!

Gavin? Far from qualified!

In Reed's unconscious mind, he had regarded the three of them as challengers, challenging a powerful mage!

Excitement and fear made his face turn red, and he unleashed all his magic power, locking onto Everit's figure!

"Two people?" Ward tilted his head and grinned, "I see. No wonder you were able to dodge my attack with that strange posture."

"."

Everit pressed the tip of his tongue against his upper teeth, rubbing it left and right twice. This was a rare action that he did subconsciously, and he was also surprised by this Reed.

This guy is really smart.

He actually guessed two-quarters of the truth.

Ever since Everit joined Fairy Tail, there is only person who can gather this level of intelligence by just guessing.

But...

Appreciation is just appreciation.

In battle, his resolve remains unwavering.

Reed "exposed" him, attempting to persuade Gavin.

Three against one? A good idea, but you've awoken too late.

Everit clandestinely wielded magic to ensnare Gavin's heart -

Rage!

Stay enraged!

Sustain the anger!

Embrace the grievance!

Ultimately, defend your pride with all your might, valiant Gavin!

*Kacha*

Gavin's soul was already pockmarked with anger induced by Evelit, but now it lay utterly shattered at Evelit's hands!

His psyche fractured, his emotions shattered, resistance futile!

Gavin trembled violently, his body seized by uncontrollable emotions. Hormones surged like venomous eruptions, usurping his very being. He was wholly consumed!

It resembled an ordinary individual suddenly thrust into combat. Adrenaline flooding their system, their faculties diminished, their frame convulsing. Reason relinquished, emotions reign supreme!

Gavin shoved aside Ward, his savior, ten meters distant, eyes ablaze with anger: "Begone! I require no interference in my battle! Else, I shall end you as well!"

Ward, rebuffed by Gavin's refusal to cooperate, exchanged a bewildered glance with Reed.

Such a predicament was never encountered before.

Gavin typically dispatches foes swiftly or relentlessly crushes them.

Indeed, Ward had never collaborated with Gavin before.

Reed comprehended Gavin's arrogance surpassing his own. Once engaged, Gavin brooked no intervention, lest his comrades fall victim!

Yet, the exigency demanded unity; failure to unite would court demise!

He hadn't anticipated Gavin's indomitable pride!

Reed's vacillation prompted Ward to ponder whether intervention was prudent, potentially prolonging the conflict.

Alternatively, it might mitigate internal discord.

After all, Gavin's assault on Ward seemed imminent.

He appeared utterly unhinged, akin to a lunatic!

"You deceitful rogue! I'll end you!" Gavin charged furiously towards "Everit".

Everit raised his hand and fired.

The shot struck, though lodged in muscle.

"How resilient." Everit couldn't help but marvel.

"Your ten seconds are spent," he informed Gavin. "I shall commence counting next."

"Ten."

*Rumble*

In Gavin and Ward's vision, the earth convulsed violently, fissures tearing asunder.

They struggled to maintain their footing, combating the sudden weightlessness that engulfed them!

Peering below, they beheld molten lava, its scorching breath kissing their faces!

They hurtled down, following the vast expanse of the floor, descending towards the magma lake below!

Gavin and Ward instinctively crouched low, their bodies tensing. Their immediate response was to leverage the board beneath their feet, relying on their jumping prowess to evade the impending danger.

Even when one knows it's an illusion, how can they defy their instincts when faced with the sight of a flying sword, so vividly real it threatens to pierce their very eyes?

That visceral sensation, regardless of one's strength, would inevitably trigger an instinctive reaction when confronted with such a life-threatening crisis. It's the reliance on the five senses deeply ingrained in human genes!

Yet, when they perceive Everit as their enemy, it's this very trust that will ultimately betray them!

"Nine," Everit switched to a gust of wind, swiftly closing the distance to Ward. Raising Haven high, he aimed for the neck, marked with teeth!

"Whoa!" Reed exclaimed, taken aback.

Though he had callously asserted that Ward's demise stemmed from his own weakness, when considering their interests, if Ward were to fall and only the one-armed Gavin and himself remained, they would undoubtedly face annihilation!

Ward couldn't die!

He had initially planned to utilize his ability at the most crucial juncture.

But he had to ensure Wade's survival!

Everit suddenly felt a weight dragging him down, the magic surrounding him becoming chaotic, his power greatly diminished.

"Hmm?"

As doubt crept in, Everit promptly sheathed his sword and retreated!
