Chapter 17: Macao Arc (4)

~Silva POV~

*Brrrr*

"Purple Bullets!"

*BAM*

Taking the sidelines again I see Macao taking care of the remaining groups of Mountain Vulcans as I made a head count of them over the last 2 days searching for these ungrateful stealthy ape bastards.

Using <Observe> to search for them was hard enough but the sheer cold of Mt. Hakobe is fucking unbearable to which I'm glad to have a <Ice Resistance> skill to defend me from the cold as well.

The perks of it being level 23 feeling less of the cold affecting me and maintaining myself to stay warm using my <Mana Reinforcement> helps warm my body up from the heat my Mana produces to recover any power to my cells to the damn frostbite in the process.

Just like the saying goes whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger which proves true to me. Especially getting this skill after helping Macao settle in one of the Mountain Vulcan's caves, we cleared out.

Skill List.

----

<Cooking> (Active) Lv.4/100 Exp: 0.9%

Description: When actively cooking any dishes, you create will be tasting with greatness in each of your cooking foods. The higher the level of this skill the more the cooking will be imbued with bonus effects.

-Once reached the max level you unlock the skill <Foodgasm>.

----

I got this skill cooking some food for Macao after having a day to help him recover his stamina and health. At the very least his more prepared and ready to fight with me scouting out the area with Mastema in the air.

At the very least I got some practice with it. Wonder if I can Erza to fall for my cooking by having it maxed out and eating her favorite strawberry shortcake?

Hmm…

Now I'm just tempted to try that idea out on all the Fairy Tail girls if only to see their reactions to it.

Questions to ponder truly…

That was when I got my thoughts cut off as I hear Macao's voice getting my attention, "Hey Silva!! We're done here!"

Blinking at this if my count is right it looks like the 20 Mountain Vulcans have been taken care of with Macao having me onlook out in case of those monkeys tried to attack from behind or sneak attack.

Which there were a few close calls when I was about to be taken over only to avoid and allow Macao to strike and forewarn him about others going from behind to take over his body only to die from fire.

And it only confirmed as I listen to the golden sounds of my abilities telling me I accomplished the job. That was when I heard the sweet, sweet sounds of the notifications popping up earning me my reward.

Finally.

[Ding!]

[Quest <Macao Arc!> Completed!]

[11,000 Jewels added to your person!]

[Lacrima of the Fire Dragon to your person!]

[Ricochet added to your person!]

[You gained 100 EXP!]

[LEVEL UP!]

[Add +5 Stats to Stat Points!]

[Which reward to pick:

-Blessed Random Item Box (Select)

-Cursed Random Item Box (Select)]

Smirking at this I can't wait to check it out, feeling my bag gained some weight from the rewards.

But first directing my attention to Macao as he began thanking me for my small amounts of help in the request, "I'll be a bit honest here Silva. I thought it was going to be tough challenging these Mountain Vulcans but with your Eye Magic searching them out it helped as much as I wouldn't like to admit. These Mountain Vulcans prefer stealth in groups to attack and Eye Magic certainly helps spotting them easily in the snow. Helps me think more about bragging this to my kid!"

Had to grind up my <Observe> skill somehow.

Raising an eyebrow at that Macao explained to me with a sensei-like expression failing to imprint on me twirling his finger but putting his arm around my shoulder getting the idea through my head, "It would make for an awesome story to tell my Romeo about how not only I beat those monsters single-handedly but as you as my witness! That will show those punks filling my kid's heads with their dumb ideas?"

I couldn't help but smile and shake helplessly at the man's antics but also somewhat glad at the same time.

It's only been a few days with this man, and I can already talk enough about his personality just going on a mission with him. He is a cheerful and loving person who cares deeply for his comrades, particularly his son, Romeo.

Following Macao I have to say seeing the show and reading it is completely different from being actually here to witness the events unfold.

It only makes me excited but fearful for the future of what's yet to come. All the dangers are realized to be true and accurate to reality.

Not like the color-tinted views I have seen before but actually breaking learning of the truth of what each character feels or has to go through on a personal level of these events unfolding… is unbelievable to me…

Yet so familiar at the same time.

I just expected it to be like the show that we spare our enemies but no… I couldn't be farther from the truth when seeing it become reality.

People can die and get killed on the job. And to my understanding of the current era of this generation lack of Healing Magic and permanent injuries were all too real and unfortunate things that could happen on a regular basis.

I'm just starting to understand making me gulp just seeing one of the Fairy Tail member's jobs and the work to go along with it to match.

Initially, I just thought if Macao was in trouble I would show off and try to impress people like those in fics.

Stupid.

Stupid, stupid, stupid mistake I thought that.

I couldn't help but shake my head at the idea. I was following what most MCs would do in those situations because I have this stupid mentality that I'm special and everything would go my way because of this or that.

No.

I may have the abilities of [THE GAMER] but that doesn't make me above the consequences of my own actions which would lead to my own death.

Something I got to see from Macao showing how dangerous the jobs could be really is even if it was a small bit of information from the show not revealing it to be nothing to the reader but a harsh reality wake, up call for me actually living here.

Getting experience from Macao just being on the sidelines along with listening to the veteran Wizard about some actions that needed to be done and valuing my own life on the line…

This was a wake-up call I needed to listen to and see from a veteran like Macao to see I can't take things like I have been doing before for granted.

This is soooo gonna suck when I fight the big threats.

Walking back with Macao through Mt. Hakobe tracks I decided to check on the status I got from the level up.

----

Name: Silva Knight

Class: The Gamer

Race: Human

Title: Fairy Tail Wizard

Level: 7 Exp: 0/100%

HP: 700/700

MP: 350/700

STR: 21+1= 22

AGI: 15+1= 16

VIT: 15+1= 16

INT: 15+1= 16

SEN: 15+1= 16

LUCK: 4

Stat Points: 6-> 11

Cash: 11,000J

----

Smirking at this I could use this chance to upgrade some stats of mine but considering how weak I am physically speaking I should probably boost that to at least 50 if I can help it. But then again LUCK and SEN could also need a boost.

Seeing as the plot is coming around, I think I need to choose which ones I would benefit the most in the future against Wizards that won't hesitate to kill me or my enemies in the process.

Hmm…

I'll think more about the subject when I get back to Magnolia Town. But then there's that item I got from clearing the quest. Walking behind Macao as he leads the way placing his attention for a way out I began to inspect the new items I got.

Taking out the item in question took the appearance of this Ricochet takes the form of a teal-colored shield greatly resembling a mirror. Two trident-shaped plates adorn the sides of the shield, and a golden ornament with two white wings adorns the top of the shield. With a symbol, I have no idea where it's from printed in white in the center of the shield.

I began to inspect it using my <Observe> skill to see more details about the item.

<Observe>.

----

Item: Ricochet

Rarity Item: A

Type: Shield

Description: As implied by its name, Ricochet reflects both magical and physical attacks. Any kind of attack is reflected back at the attacker in a mostly random manner.

----

Blinking a bit surprised by this I couldn't help but think what a useful item to have in my current situation.

I'll definitely be using this bad boy later that will be useful in battle. But when I look at my next item reward, I got I was understandably underwhelmed by it majorly.

What I took out was a small fragment of a rainbow-colored shard that belongs to a Lacrima tilting my head confused.

<Observe>.

----

Item: Lacrima of the Fire Dragon

Rarity Item: D

Type: Lacrima

Description: Raises the STR and VIT of the user by 15 when equipped. Only active during battle.

----

Still, that extra +15 of STR and VIT could be very useful when I need it. Best to equip it on my person but, right now, a nice hot bath filled with hot water for me is simply waiting to be enjoyed.

Although since Mt. Hakobe is somewhere near Crocus, I could use the chance to grind more before challenging another request soon.

Fuck it.

I'll just take the Daybreak Quest that was on the request board and take Virgo Key. I mean it will change the plot sure but I kind of need it more than Lucy….

Maybe…

Plus having a maid that is always available except for Sundays is pretty much great to have on my beck and call so long as I use my Mana.

And they are pretty secretive to their masters or clients holding their keys. But… looking down on my Rune Sword I couldn't help but frown needing a better weapon takes priority.

And I do have a better weapon my new shield Ricochet to help deflect physical and magical attacks will come in handy in the near future.

Seeing that Lucy hasn't come to Fairy Tail yet and it's only been about 3 days completed there is about 4 days left before she joins officially.

During Macao Arc, I remember Romeo saying it's been a week's time and I confirmed this with Macao being the 31 of June X784.

Guess it's time to plan before the big shit comes down. Since the plot begins around July – December 16 is my deadline before everything goes to shit after that.

In a sense I would have about 6 months to grind before the Tenrou Island arc happens. Doubt I would get strong enough in time to defeat Acnologia but at the very least I won't go down without a fight or stay behind in the Guild and wait for them.

Such tempting ideas… but for now though I have to get stronger. Best to be prepared for any possibility.

Maybe I'll decide when I finally arrive in Magnolia Town to make my decision on the matter. Till then I'll ponder the pros and cons of taking the Day Break quest as I am now or wait till, I'm stronger first?

Decisions, decisions, decisions eh…?

I'll open the Blessed Chest when I have my own time alone.
