Unconscious Girl

Mysterious and Complicated person, that was Cana's first impression of Lucius. During the few weeks he joined the guild, she observed him due to her curiosity.

One thing she noticed about Lucius was when he started interacting with the other guild members. He was kind and sociable yet there was this feeling that he was restrained in his interactions like something was limiting him from getting too attached to others.

Although the guild already knows that Lucius was a noble heir, his origins was still a mystery. Like where were the places he kept mentioning? They were all unknown to the guild members.

This, in turn, strengthens their curiosity towards Lucius, especially Cana.

On one particular day, Cana coincidentally saw Lucius training in East Forest. And what she saw was ingrained deeply in her mind. She saw him carrying a large boulder whilst doing some physical training.

She saw how his face showed tiredness and pain but he endured. This got her thinking, why would he endure such brutal training that could be considered torture.

Yet at the same time, she felt some kind of camaraderie on him. She felt they were closely similar, they both are rushing in achieving their goals as fast as possible.

"Are you ready?" Lucius asked Cana who was standing beside him.

Cana nodded, "Yeah!'

The two were standing near the guild building as the two were on their way to do a job. As promised by Lucius yesterday, he will bring Cana to do a job.

" Okay, our job is to subjugate 2 monsters in a forest near Akane Resort. Luckily, there were no deaths yet. Those two monsters were just seen coincidentally." Lucius explained

"I see, then we need to ride the train then."

"No, we will go there in a different way." He said, "I've been there a few times due to some jobs so just follow me. Don't go too far from me when we fight those monsters."

"Eh? Okay...?" Cana replied, bewildered.

"Good, then let's go!" Lucius started walking followed by Cana. They walked for some time and arrived in East Forest.

"This should be okay..." Lucius muttered then turned towards Cana. "Stay close to me."

Cana was confused nonetheless complied and stood close to him.

A magic circle then appeared below the two and soon they disappeared into the forest. And a moment later, the two appeared in another forest.

"We're here"

Cana looked around and saw trees different from where they were earlier. "What kind of magic was that?" she asked curiously

"That's teleportation magic." Lucius replied the reason he used teleportation in front of another person was that he didn't want to hide it anymore.

Since in his few weeks of stay in the guild, he saw how they treat each other as genuinely family. So he decided to stop hiding some things.

"Whoa! That's the first time I've heard of it!"

"Don't get distracted, we are in an area near the home of our targets. Those monsters should be a few hundred meters away from our current location." Lucius reminded Cana, "Be prepared and remember to stay close."

Yeah yeah, come on!" Cana beamed

Lucius shook his head and started walking. Cana followed him closely while curiously glancing at him.

'He looks so serious now on our job compared to his casual self when in the guild. If I remember, he's been doing this type of job for a few weeks now. He's really amazing, on his 2nd day of joining, he already did a subjugation job. 'Cana pondered deeply while glancing at Lucius, 'He is also strong, I once saw him obliterating a 20-meter wide area in a single blast of his magic.'

The further she remembered about those things regarding Lucius, her desire to grow strong increases. Her admiration for him also grew, especially while recalling the training he puts himself in, just to get stronger.

"We're here, get ready..."

Lucius's voice got Cana out of her stupor, she looked around and noticed some figures on the front. About 20 meters ahead, there were two lion-like monsters sleeping basking under the sun.

The monsters were in an open area surrounded by trees.

"Can you use your magic to bind the two?" Lucius asked as he remembered Cana's magic was about cards. It's a versatile magic which is useful in many situation.

"I can"

"Then you go bind one of then we'll eliminate the other."

"But won't it be better if we bind two of them together?" Cana asked curiously

"We could but that would increase the chances of them escaping together as they can use their strength together to break out. Though my real reason is for gaining experience. It's your first time hunting monsters, right?"

"Yeah.. "

"Alright, then let's start."

After Lucius finished speaking, the two dashed towards the monsters and when they were near, Cana then grabbed some card from her bag then threw them at one of the monsters.

The card then changed into ribbons upon touching the target and bonded the monster. This in turn woke the two up, with the free monster swiftly lunging at the two.

Lucius got in front of Cana and enhanced himself with demonic power before punching the beast, launching it in the air.

He then glanced at Cana who nodded, she then grabbed her cards from the bag then threw a barrage of it towards the monster.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

Upon contact, the cards exploded which greatly damage the monster.

"Oh yeah!" Cana exclaimed cheerfully before turning towards Lucius. "Look, I did it!"

But Lucius didn't react as she'd expected, "Rule number one while hunting monsters, don't let your guard down." he said as he appeared behind Cana and creating a barrier, blocking the monster who was about to attack Cana.

ShA also noticed it and was shaken, if Lucius wasn't there then...she didn't want to think about it.

"Thank you..." she said softly

Lucius sighed, "Well, you did a good job but next time don't let your guard down." he said before blasting the monster with a ball of PoD which obliterated the beast. He also easily erased the other monster.

"Now you see how dangerous this type of job, one wrong step and you could die." Lucius said, "Come one, let's report to the job poster that we finished our job."

Cana nodded, still shaken by the close encounter. She followed Lucius closely as they traversed the forest.

After that they reported to the manager of the resort about the completion of the job. And then they decided to stay at the beach for a bit.

That's when Lucius noticed someone, unconscious on the beach. The two of them quickly rushed towards the person and saw it was a girl about the same age as Lucius (physically).

It was a girl with scarlet hair that reached her shoulders with tattered clothes. Her body was also full of injuries.

Upon seeing the state of the girl, Lucius quickly carried her in his arms and cast healing magic on her. Slowly, her injuries healed at a visible rate.

"What happened to her? I think we should go back now." He said to Cana who nodded.

"Yeah, we should consult master about this matter."

He nodded and stops beside Cana then used teleportation straight in front of the guild building. After arriving, he quickly rushed in while carrying the girl, closely following him was Cana.

Lucius saw Makarov on the bar, as usual.

"Master, I found her on the Akane beach after we finished our job. I'll go put her in the infirmary."

"Mm, we'll talk about her situation later." Makarov nodded and Lucius brought the girl in the infirmary then laid her down on a bed.
