19 Genin Years (II)
~~Timeskip~~ (One month)
It has been a month since I became a part of Team Eta along with Namaikina and Yoruichi and since then, we have been doing D-Rank missions along with some training whenever we have the time. After training for only a week, all three of us understood that none of us were ever going to become Genjutsu prodigies, which was a good thing since Yoruichi herself wasn't that good when it came to Genjutsu.
Thankfully, all three of us were adept enough to be able to stop the flow of Chakra inside our bodies long enough to break the Genjutsu and we were also adept enough to surge our Chakra pathways to disrupt the flow of the caster's Chakra… To be honest, normal Genjutsu was only a threat if you failed to realize that you were trapped inside a Genjutsu.
Dispelling stronger, but normal Genjutsu Techniques might be harder, but it too followed the same principles as its weaker versions… Just stop the flow of your Chakra for a moment, or surge your Chakra through your Chakra pathways, and voila! You are no longer trapped inside a Genjutsu…
"I am glad that I won't have to clean the stables anymore!" Namaikina exclaimed cheerfully when Yoruichi finally announced that we had finished the quota of our D-Rank missions,
"I never said that" Yoruichi deadpanned, making both me and Namaikina freeze in horror. Even I was tired of shoveling shit and painting buildings.
"But you just said…" I trailed off with a horrified look on my face.
"I know what I said, but we are simply getting a small break from these missions… I am a Chunin, do you think I like these missions?" Yoruichi snarked unhappily. "From now on, we will be taking Village patrolling missions and border patrolling missions for a month, but after that… We will be returning to these… annoying missions" Yoruichi finished her explanation with a sigh.
"So, how long do we have to continue this schedule?" I asked in an exasperated tone… I simply wanted to get over these useless missions, but there was nothing I could do.
"For at least 11 more months" Yoruichi answered with a grimace and Namaikina howled in despair before she slumped down on the ground. I have to admit, I was kind of getting the itch to do the same too, but I refused to act like a kid.
"It's almost a year… I am going to die of boredom" Namaikina continued to whine and I could practically feel her pain.
"I know kid, I know…" Yoruichi sighed while rubbing her temples, and while I wanted to point out that she was a kid too, I didn't want to get my ass kicked. It has been a month since we started to train with her, but the difference between us is still quite huge. While I have managed to learn how to enhance a kunai with lightning Chakra in the last month, I still needed some work on that to match her level.
"So, how about we get something to eat before we head back?" I asked, getting nods from both Yoruichi and Namaikina. I lived in an apartment with Mukchina and from what I know, he was also doing the same type of missions.
"Dumplings?" Yoruichi asked in a hopeful tone, only to get a nod from both me, and Namaikina. Dumplings were pretty cheap and tasted great, especially the meat ones, so we have started to love dumplings quite a bit.
After grabbing dumplings on our way back, we returned to our respective apartments. Yoruichi lived on her own as she could afford a whole apartment by herself and Namaikina lived in an apartment with Mira while Bakana lived at her Family compound. Mira was yet to receive a code name and she won't until she finishes her training. While Mira was still a Shinobi, she knew very little about combat…
~~Timeskip~~ (The next day)
"So, what are we doing today?" I asked Yoruichi, looking excited. Yes, I will be shoveling shit again in a month, but that didn't mean, I wasn't excited about the patrol missions. As expected, even Namaikina was excited and looking forward to the day.
"Well… I have two scrolls here… One of them is a border patrol mission and another one is a water distillery inspection mission" Yoruichi revealed two scrolls.
"Isn't the water distillery important?" I asked as I wasn't expecting the water distillery mission to be a D-Rank mission.
"We have a lot of water distilleries around Kumo and it's not like it is under attack… We simply need to go there and see if everything is in working condition or not" Yoruichi explained and after thinking for a bit, I nodded my head in understanding. "We will also need to take a sample of the water for the labs, but that's it" Yourichi added after a few moments.
Damn! She must have forgotten about that part…
"Which is going to be more exciting?" Namaikina asked and Yoruivhi seemed to ponder for a moment.
"Both of them are going to be equally exciting for the two of you, but I say we do the border patrol first… I know a sick place we could visit after the mission" Yoruichi finished with a grin, but I narrowed my eyes at her… I know the look in her eyes. She is most definitely up to something, but I don't think it would be anything malicious. I believe she is simply planning to prank us.
"Okay" Both Namaikina and I agreed with her suggestion.
"Alright, then we can do the water distillery inspection mission tomorrow" Yoruichi explained and all of us agreed. So, after accepting the mission from the mission hall, we made our way towards the border. The mission was pretty simple, we simply had to stroll around the edges of the village while keeping an eye out for anything suspicious, but Kumo was kind of inaccessible since the whole village was built on the mountains.
After strolling along the border for six hours, the next team finally arrived and after handing over the mission scroll to them to get our verification, we decided to leave, but instead of returning to the village, we decided to go to this sick place Yoruichi promised to take us…
