6: Jan Chodkiewicz, 'The Demon Slayer'

-Ding!

- We have reached our destination 'Teleportation Station'!

I heard the car A.I.'s voice which awoke me from my sleep. Groggily, I looked around and realized that I had already reached the teleportation station.

*Yawn*

'Did I sleep for the last 12 hours?'

That was the only thought in my half-conscious mind as I slowly exited the car. Entering the Teleportation Station, I walked towards the restroom sign. In the restroom, I splashed some water on my face which woke me up completely.

Exiting the restroom, I walked toward a room without thinking and entered it. Inside the room, I waited for a moment and the portal opened. Staring at the circular portal a single thought crossed my mind.

'Wait, Where am I going?'

Because I just realized that I didn't know the way towards my next room after I entered the portal room.

I already know what you're about to say! Yeah, Even I'm doubting my intelligence at this point. Even the thought that I'm hallucinating crossed through my head as again confirmed that my intelligence had increased and not decreased.

I exited the room with a slight blush of shame on my face and walked towards the high tech looking bench and sat down. This part of the Teleportation Sation was the second-largest section which perplexed me.

Searching the path towards my destination from my current coordinates on my holographic watch, I realized that I was very far from my destination. Like on the other part of the galaxy!

***

3 hours later.

"Finally!!"

I exclaimed to myself as I exited the teleportation station. Some passerby people looked at me as though I was a strange creature, while others were just startled by my exclamation.

The current system I was currently on was a very famous battlefield some 500 years ago. This was also the death place of one of the strongest 3-star chaos humans.

It may seem like 3-star is not that significant since I'm already at 2-star but, you are gravely mistaken. The only reason I'm at 2-star is that my seal got removed along with the fact that I ate one of the most cheat items in this world. Being 3 star corresponds to being around {C-} to {A+} rank. From my current estimates, it would take me around 2 to 3 years to get to {C-} rank, if I keep ingesting cheat like items every day. All in all, it's super hard to get to that rank, more so because the higher you go, the higher the rank difference gets. At such high ranks, even a minor increase in rank like from {B} to {B+} is phenomenal.

Immediately after exiting the Teleportation Station, I took a public vehicle since it seems that the A.I. cars for tourists seemed packed with many people around that place. Also, I didn't have a reservation which is one of the things required to use any of such vehicles. The only reason I could ride the car back in Bilun System was that the place was deserted while this planet is crowded.

Exiting the hover bus, I walked for some time and finally, I saw a building that was painted only in black and white. There was a big sign in front of the building with 'Hall of Heroes' written on it. The building looked crowded with many people going in and out of it. I mixed in with the crowd and entered the building while various facts about the building kept flashing through my mind.

'Hall of Heroes' was a place that can easily be found on any planet which had become a war zone in the past. People of this world didn't fight their battles with space crafts because The technology wasn't so advanced to create large space battleships which could help them move as fast as a teleportation gate. Also, the cost of moving a large battleship through any teleportation gate was massive. So instead, Every race opted for a planetary battle instead of a space battle which was just needlessly expensive.

Also, putting the same amount of cash on mass destructive weapons like Mana Bombs gave a much better and more acceptable result than spaceships. So currently, you would only see rich kids boasting about space sips which they use more like a private jet than an authentic spaceship.

In short, Individual power plays a big factor in wars between races and where there is war, there will be deaths as well as heroes. These buildings which could be found on any planet, which has been a Battlefield in the past, was the government's way of saying that their sacrifices weren't in vain and also as a place for family members to withdraw any of their deceased valuables.

While I was still in the crowd, I slowly wore the hood of my hoodie which I had bought on my way here since the old one was torn at the back after I transformed into a demon. Hesitating for a moment, I willed the mana in my body and soon after, my facial features along with my skin tone and hair started changing until the black-haired, dark-skinned and handsome Lucas was no more. In his place was my appearance from my previous life. A white-skinned Asian looking man with an average-looking face.

Looking around to see if anyone had noticed, I walked inside the building. Inside, I saw a massive hall with a big black stone pillar in the middle which seemed filled with various writing all around it.

I tried to focus on the pillar and the next moment, It felt as though I had zoomed in since I saw the letters on the pillar and could read it without problems. I was surprised with how good my eye-sight was since the pillar was still quite the distance from me. I didn't dwell on my eye-sight for that much and split from the crowd and walked towards an old lady who seemed like a staff working here from her clothes.

"Excuse me, Grandma," I said to her.

The old woman turned towards me and with a kind smile asked

"Yes, How may I help you, young man?"

"Ah! Well! Do you where I can... you know to claim by ancestors belongings? Heh... Heh," I asked with a dry chuckle.

The old woman looked quite perplexed and asked again.

"Oh my! Did I hear right? claim by ancestors belongings? For a battle that was fought over 500 years ago?"

The incident looked very peculiar from the old woman's perspective because people would usually come to claim the decedent's belonging only a few days after at the fastest and a few years after for the latest. However, seeing someone here to claim belongings after 500 years was the first time she had heard of.

But, instead of believing what the young man in front of her at face value, The old woman frowned and The old woman tried to confirm something.

"Young man, are you really here to withdraw the belongings of your ancestor or are you here to just try your luck and see if you can get anything useful? If you are here for the latter then, I advise you to return before I... "

"No, No, No. You're mistaken."

"I really am here to withdraw my ancestor's belongings."

Still frowning slightly, The old woman spoke again after a slight pause.

"Ok then, Follow me, Young Man."

I did as she told me and soon we reached the counter which was at the other side of the pillar and looked very empty.

The old woman again turned towards me and asked.

"Do you know the number or do we have to continue with a DNA test?"

Just like the old woman had said there were two ways to receive the valuables. One was through a DNA test while the other was a very unique way.

In this world, every time someone lists into an army, they are given a certain code number which they are not allowed to share with anyone else but their family members. These numbers are decided by a computer and are kept in the most secure lock with no one able to access the database, not even the president himself.

Why was this so random and unnecessary thing done? Well, it was because various people faked being the descendants of various war veterans and demanded to receive the deceased belongings. I might seem dumb at first but if you think about it, it will make a lot of sense.

Only awakened humans are accepted into the military. So the belongings of such individuals obviously contain various valuable magic equipment and mana stones. It is more so for the powerful awakened. So the military, after gaining a lot of criticism from the public, implemented this system. Also, a law was set in place that if anyone complains about someone not being the rightful owner of the inheritance, Then the number won't be of any relevance and a DNA test will be in order and the results for failing the DNA test has a very serious penalty. The penalty is to become a living lab rat for the government laboratories.

After hearing my answer, the old woman went behind the counter and asked

"What's the number?"

"Ah! It's this." I said as I showed her a hologram of a long string of hexadecimal numbers.

'43686f646b69657769637a'

The old woman looked at the number and started typing on a holographic keyboard. A moment later, she spoke up.

"Ah! Oh my! I guess you were really telling the truth. huh!"

*Twitch*

My eyebrow twitched after hearing that comment.

'Damn! Perceptive old hag! So you didn't even believe me one bit huh... Well, jokes on you because you are absolutely right yet you will have to hand me the belongings of one of the greatest swordsman of Chaos humans without question now.'

Yes, the above code is the code of the best swordsman of the Chaos Humans, Jan Chodkiewicz, who is nowadays famously known as 'The Demon Slayer'.

In my novel, I had made Jan Chodkiewicz to be the only human to have an SS-rank innate skill 'Sword Saint'. I had made him the pinnacle of sword talent in the entire universe and the only human to be able to bypass a whole rank and kill a 4-star or Demigod ranked Demon. Jan Chodkiewicz had created only one swordsmanship in his entire life and that swordsmanship is currently imprinted in his sword as a semi-consciousness. The sword in question is currently in a ring-shaped dimensional storage device which due to some Deus Ex Macina by me the author, is currently stuck in the handle of a throwing knife of another soldier.

As for how I knew the code for the 'Un-named' soldier was again because I was the author and to come up with the hexadecimal code, I had used the Chodkiewicz guys surname and changed it into a hexadecimal number. This wasn't the only case where I had done so, I had done for many more situations but the problem is they are a bit more complicated than the current situation among which one is especially troublesome but could in turn land me a wifu. Anyway, I'm not currently in the mood to be in a relationship.

***

I waited for about 10 min during which, unlike the time with the 'Fruit of Freedom' I didn't feel overly excited. Don't get me wrong, the excitement was there but not as much as before.

'Hmm, maybe it is because my Calm Mind skill got fully unlocked and reached D-rank.'

The old woman who was gone for more than 10 min after the last conversation, came from the back of the counter with a military duffle bag that seemed half empty.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." She said immediately after returning and handed me the bag.

I immediately opened it and inside there it was, A throwing knife with a rather abnormal handle, where you could barely make out the silhouette of a ring among the already welded metal.
