39. The 67th student council

The 67th student council, today is their last day of their term.

The student council's members were busy tidying up their personal belongings. Every time they took something out, many memories of what they did in the past year immediately resurfaced, one by one.

Miyuki, Kaguya, Chika, and Yuu. They talked about it, whether it's happy, sad, annoyed, or angry. They retraced it all with a smile on their faces. It's one page of irreplaceable memory for them all.

Shuu also joined them from time to time. However, he mostly stood on the sidelines, watching them.

He remembered what kind of purpose and mindset he had when he joined the student council. Shuu did his job perfectly after he joined them and also went along with them all this time. Nevertheless, it's a fact that he was sometimes busy, unlike others, and didn't spend as much time as them on the student council. Shuu was grateful that they allowed him to do as he pleased without complaining.

But… There's one thing that Shuu missed. By reminiscing about the past, the rest of the student council's members, except for Shuu, realized one undeniable truth. They had realized just how many times Shuu had played and made them dance on his hand!

A seed of rebellion had taken place in their hearts and minds. The long-forgotten anger also resurfaced one by one.

"So this is how it ends. Is there any place we haven't looked?" Miyuki's voice brought them all together.

"There's one place," Yuu replied, and he went to open the hidden door behind the cupboard.

""We had something like that?!"" Chika and Miyuki simultaneously exclaimed. Then they rushed to check it out.

Unconsciously, Shuu let out a chuckle, looking at them (I guess some things never changed), he thought.

And so, after the final check, Miyuki closed and locked the door.

Then, as they were leaving, Yuu suggested an after-party, which was quickly accepted by everyone. They talked about trivia about deciding the after-party location.

It wasn't long before they realized Chika had stopped, and sniffles and sobbing could be heard around them. Following that, Kaguya was also influenced by her and unable to hold her tears any longer.

"Good work, everyone. Thank you for everything." Miyuki's words closed the curtain on the 67th student council of Shuchiin Academy.

"So, which family restaurant?" Shuu asked.

After everyone recovered and calmed down, the former student council members followed their original plan to have an uchiage. With Miyuki's recommendations, they were on their way to the family restaurant, but on the way

"Ma~, Shuu," a voice calls for Shuu. The other members could clearly hear the call as well. When they all looked to see who was calling Shuu, they noticed that it was an adult woman wearing a modest outfit. She was waving her other hand toward them while holding a shopping bag that was fairly full. Even though it was Miyuki and Yuu's first time meeting her, they felt a sense of familiarity.

"Mom?" Shuu looked surprised as he responded. While his response startled Miyuki and Yuu, it also helped them realize why they felt familiar.

Meanwhile, "Aoi-san" Chika called, waving back to her.

Aoi walked toward them and replied, "My, good evening, Chika-chan."

"What special day is today, Mom? for you to even go shopping yourself. Did I forget something?" Shuu asked as he took the shopping bag from her.

"No, it's nothing. I just felt like shopping today," Aoi replied cheerfully. "By the way, they're your friends?" She turned her attention toward the others.

"Katsuragi-sama" Kaguya greeted her. She was going to bow her head, but Aoi moved faster and signaled for her to stop.

"Yes, they're former members of the student council I told you about before." Shuu explained, "This is Shirogane Miyuki, our president. And the other one is my junior, the treasurer, Ishigami Yuu." He introduced them to Aoi. Following that, Miyuki and Yuu also quickly greeted Aoi awkwardly.

Aoi didn't mind that and smiled toward them. "Thank you for taking care of my son all this time," she said with a gentle smile.

""N, No, it's us who have been taking care of us all this time."" Yuu gave hurried, nervous-looking responses at the same time. Shuu could only facepalm while watching his reactions. Meanwhile, Miyuki was able to handle it more calmly.

"My, is that so?" Aoi chuckled as she turned her attention to Shuu. "Also, what do you mean by former members, Shuu?"

"It means, literally, that today our term has ended. We are all former members of the student council," Shuu explained.

"Oh, I understand," Aoi replied. "So you're all going somewhere to celebrate that, right? I thought it's rare to see Shuu with friends like this."

"Well, I can't deny that." Shuu shrugged it off. "And yes, we're going to have a closing party." He replied, then turned toward others. He was about to suggest they go first, and he would rejoin them after he helped his mother.

"Then why don't you invite them to our house?" Shuu flinched when Aoi suddenly suggested. "You never invited your friends home," she said with a bit of sulking.

"I have. it's–" Shuu refuted.

"Of course, Chika-chan isn't included in that," Aoi added first, which halted Shuu's tongue. She knew perfectly what excuses her son was about to spew out.

Even so, Shuu wasn't going to change his mind and was about to refuse her until he realized Aoi's gaze, her expectation eyes toward him.

(I guess I can't get away from this, he thought. Still, Shuu won't back down silently. "I don't mind," he said, putting his last hope in this. "But I don't think the others are comfortable with it." He brought in others to help him. "Besides, we had already decided the location, right?" he said. It's usually a perfect solution, yet Shuu failed to reconsider one thing. The resentment he built up and always hid all this past year was remembered and about to explode.

The student council members already spent quite a time with Shuu, and they understood that Shuu wasn't too keen on inviting them, which would make it even more perfect to rile him. ((((Chance!!)))) Even Chika thought the same.

"Of course, we don't mind. We are glad to accept."Kaguya said with a pure angelic smile, and with her leading them, they all agreed.

Shuu was stunned. He didn't expect it to turn out like this at all.
