chapter 9- Anti-monster combat class

[Anti-monster combat training]

it was combat training class against monsters,not real monsters of course .they were mana puppets, but their appearance and destructive power were faithful to the real thing. They were also weaker than their real counterparts.

"We're meeting at the field in 20 minutes!"

A loud voice rang out in the classroom. I turned towards the voice. It was Yi Yeonghan. A Kim suho supporter, also the class president. Though I don't remember him that much.

Oval face, small gentle eyes, and a muscular body that didn't match his face. With this description you'd think he looks weird, but no. He looked strangely...normal, i guess.

After a 20 minute break, everyone from the Veritas class gathered at the Novice Field. With 100 people here, it seemed quite crowded. The cadets were sharing their half-nervous half-excited expectations with their friends, but I was alone. Both me and hajin were alone.

"Fuck..." - I should have atleast made a friend. I shouldn't be the same as hajin.

While I was swimming in my thoughts, the instructor, Kim Soohyuk, showed up.The cadets immediately stood in ten columns in front of him.

"I'm sure you all know what this lesson is about, so I'll announce the teams without explanation. Unless something special happens, this team will be the same until after the midterms."

Team formation. The cadets grew restless at the exciting yet nerve-wracking process. It was the most important thing for me where everything could go wrong. I cannot be paired with any of the main crew, or else I'll have to kiss my plan of blending into the crowd a big goodbye.

Kim Soohyuk announced.

"Team members will be selected fairly. Lower ranked cadets will be paired with higher ranked cadets."

Ah fuck.....I shouldn't have jinxed myself.

i was in a daze....., how was this possible anyway. didn't the instructor just now tell, that Team members will be selected fairly.

"this isn't fair!!!!!!. i want a refund!!!"- Mumble, mumble. Just then a voice came from behind of me.

"arin-ssi?"- asked the voice behind me.

"Yes?...oh it's you, Kim suho, right?"- ugh!!!! It's not that I hate this guy. It's just that, i can't be next to the Main characters.

"Arghhhhh, who is this guy."- spoke a voice beside Kim suho.

"Hey! You are making us late by every second!!!"- said a girl beside him.

"....you should hurry then, and stop wasting time." I said to the girl.

The girl was holding the other guy's hands and glaring at me. Just as she was about to say something to me. Kim suho interfered.

"Now, now. We are a team aren't we. We shouldn't fight against eachother but, together."

Both of them became silent for a while. Then they started praising suho for being a great leader.

Are they members of his fan club or something.

"We should introduce ourselves and move on. I am Kim suho. A warrior with a sword."

"Kim Lang, the second warrior, war hammer."

"My name is Paine Lian, I'm the sharpshooter of the team. I use a crossbow."

They introduced themselves one by one. It was my turn now, but just as i was introducing myself, a loud voice interrupted me.

"There's no time for chitchat. You should have gotten the coordinate and information of the monster you'll need to kill on your smartwatch. Get going!"- it was the instructor.

"... Arin crestaine, a supporter, using daggers." - I spoke only a few words because I wanted to move to our field quickly and just forget the rude interruption of the instructor. But it seems that they took it the wrong way, as the girl was just glaring at me like anything.

[Blackhump Octopus 29° 22' 32" N]

It was the same monster as hajin's team. As we were running through the field Unsurprisingly, everyone was doing their best to catch up to suho.

I could try matching him but, how can a rank 20 do that. So I'm gonna lie low.

We discussed a few things about the monster, how to beat it and our position.

Suho and Kim lang were on the front with me being behind them. Paine was behind me. Suho's and Kim lang's job was to fight the monster head-on. Paine was supposed to shoot the mini octo.

Mine was to protect Paine while she was shooting. Support the warriors when needed and, if possible do some damage myself.

"Hard being a supporter isn't it?" - Kim suho asked me.

"Quite an obvious question isn't it" -i said.

" how about we talk again, sometime later after this class?"

No thank you

"No thank you" -i said without thinking, or maybe thinking carefully.

"we've reached, should we kill it right away, suho-ssi?"

"Yes, we must hurry so that it will be easy for us."

Unlike hajin's team, where yeonha started explaining about the monster when they reached the target. This team just ran straight for it. They kinda looked like professionals like this.

The back hump octopus lowered its head after discovering us. It then pointed its cannon-shaped hump towards us.

BOOM!

A thundering sound rang out, and dozens of creatures shot out of its hump. Seemingly mushy lumps rained down on us from the sky.

Kim suho and Kim lang stepped aside, the baby octopus flew towards Paine and me. Without any delay, Paine shot all the projectiles.

some got through her but, that wasn't a problem since i cut them up. But why does it feel like its taking longer. is it because i replaced someone else.

i can't let suho's team be in the second because of me, i guess i'll help him a bit.
