chapter 7 - weapon selection

Sleek white interior with no sign of dust and three long desks cascading up.

Really high class and exactly how i didn't expect at all~~~. i guess it's worthy of being called 'The world's greatest training institute' . Heh~~

As i was lost in thought i saw hajin sitting in the edge seat of the middle row. You know, that seat is always known as the most average seat, even in my previous life.

Not gonna lie, i was going to steal that seat from hajin if he came later that me. But sadly i didn't know when he came. Like i said, i didn't pay attention to any small details.

Shin Jonghak sitting on the farthest seat back. With his eyes closed and his hands in his pocket, he seemed like.... he was a gangster or something.

Next to him was his childhood friend, Yoo Yeonha, chattering. you would've thought that, when a top 20 candidate was in the class everyone would stare at them but no, for two reasons specifically.

First, i don't think they even know anyone who's not on the top 10. Second, even if they knew who was top 20-30, they wouldn't know who i was. since i hated attention i never socialized with them, partially because i was busy.

Anyway, i don't care about that. All i care is no unwanted attention. since hajin took the first seat that gets least attention, I, took the second. Edge seat of the top row, just above hajin.

I was worried that hajin would recognize me but, i guess it was not needed since hajin was dozing off.

Currently it was 8:15 am, Class began at 8:30 am. since 15 more minutes left i started checking my status window. just to be sure of my growth in these 10 years.

You can observe any characters in 4 km radius . Overusing may cause headaches . Distance and the character being focused on is adjustable to reduce the pain.

—Reading

a holographic tab in you mind ,can be seen with eyes , letting you about everything you need know about a particular topic . Can be used to see what the character is feeling ,along with their stats.

—Allows you to change magic power to any other suitable power, can increase the temporary or permanent magic stats by breathing techniques.

— Allows you to store 20 points worth magic temporarily every 2 hours

- allows you to cover yourself/ anyone else/ anything else with a invisible barrier to protect it.

- water,fire ,earth ,air, light and dark are the main elemental powers . Branch powers of these do exist.

- only water, fire and air is usable due to low level of proficiency.

- you are able to control low level puppets made by you or attained by you .

A thunderous shout interrupted my observation of the status window. oh well didn't matter the rest was as the same anyway. I really didn't improve that much during these 10 years.

The instructor was behind the podium.

"Today's the first day, so there won't be any special training, but I hope you all did your morning training. Training is never wrong, especially in the morning when mana density is high."

Training?... don't even talk about it. I trained continuously these 10 days, no 10 years. and i'll admit that if i train a single more second i will go mad.

"Now, let's start with self-introductions. I'm Kim Soohyuk, the instructor in charge of you all for the year. My ranking point is 3850. World rank 9737. By the Association's classification, I would be high-intermediate rank grade 5. I think that's enough for my introduction."

'He finally ended that 'speech'. He must be really proud of his rank, as the corners of his mouth curled up to a grin. or maybe he just liked the students reactions.'- was what i thought as i looked around, and of course hajin was probably thinking the same.

"The first day will feel special. You might not have slept due to excitement and worry, or maybe you're feeling great about being able to improve yourselves. Heh, maybe you're happy to see your crushes again."

The cadets broke out into a small laughter. But the instructor froze his expression sternly.

"But Cube isn't the same as it was before. I promise you, there will be no time for relationships. In Cube, you will experience several real combat situations. Look forward to experiencing how fearful the real world is."

you know, i can't believe how everyone listen to this boring crap as though they were watching a movie. i really hate boring things.

"Next, Cube is objective. The only indicator of your success will be your grade. Guilds will only look at your grade. Thus, we will grade you accurately and strictly. If you under perform, you will be held back. Statistically, less than half of Cube's cadets graduate without repeating a semester.

Even then, you can only be held back up to two years. Any more than that, you will be expelled. If you can't become a Hero, you will become an agent or a mercenary. I take it that that's not what you want."

After giving the students a scare, the instructor paused and scanned the students' faces.

"I can already see a few faces I'm familiar with."

It was the same for me and hajin.

Kim Suho, Shin Jonghak, Yoo Yeonha, Chae Nayun, Rachel.

These five were the important characters I could see at a first glance.

Although there was another character called Yi Yeonghan, i didn't feel the need to worry about him.

Shin Jonghak sat with Yoo Yeonha. Since Kim Suho and Chae Nayun saw each other as rivals, they were distanced. Rachel sat alone, and Yi Yeonghan sat behind Kim Suho.

"I repeat. At Cube, you will need to confirm the things you've learned until now and hone your skills to be used in battle. There will be no kind training here. Remember that."

With that, Kim Soohyuk announced.

"Now get ready. What's scheduled for today won't take long. The first task is 'main weapon selection.' "

Finally!!!. the event i was waiting for. I have a few weapons in mind. These 10 years along with getting stronger, i also used many weapons to see which was the best.

"Any weapon you can think of should be here."- said the instructor, and, i already forgot his name.

"Stand in front of the weapon you want. We'll supply you with the training weapons. But don't look down on them just because they're training weapon. Their market price is 5 million won."

The 100 or so students of Veritas class stood in front of the weapon they wanted. while i was just looking at 3-4 weapons that i might choose.

"Choose carefully. Once you pick your main weapon, you won't be able to change it for at least 6 months."- said the meddling instructor.

Sword and spear were obviously the most popular choice. Kim Suho stood in front of a sword and Shin Jonghak in front of a spear. Yoo Yeonha chose the whip, Chae Nayun chose the bow, and Rachel chose the rapier.

As i was exchanging looks, contemplating between choosing a sword, whip or a dagger. the instructor, Kim Soohyuk asked something.

"Kim Chundong, why are you standing still?"

I knew who the instructor was saying that to. He was obviously saying it to hajin.

"Kim Chundong."- the instructor repeated as hajin just stood in a daze.

The instructor's voice fell low, and other students' gazes fell on hajin.

Hajin didn't like attention so he quickly walked up and grabbed his weapon. Sadly that only brought him more attention.
